General Rules:

1. Have fun, and don't be a jerk. Arguments and emotions are of course expected in any Mafia game, but stay away from personal attacks.
2.

Read all the rules carefully and make sure you will be able to follow them. Unexpected things do come up, and in that case, let the moderator know as soon as possible so a replacement can be found, but if you just flake, expect to be barred from future mith games for a while.

3. No editing or deleting your posts.
4. No invisible text; no extraneous formatting tags. tags are reserved for the moderator.
5. When you're dead, you're dead. No posting in the game thread until the game is over, unless your role specifies otherwise. This includes "Bah!" posts.
6. No talking outside the thread, unless your role explicitly allows it.
7. No talking in the thread at night, even if the mod forgets to close it.
8. You are expected to read your Role PM in its entirety.
9. If you are modkilled for breaking the rules of the game, you lose.
10. Do not quote the moderator. This includes role PMs (though sample role PMs for all possible roles can be found in the next post).
11. Questions should not be directed to the moderator in the thread. If you have any question about the game, ask it by PM. If it is something that everyone needs to be aware of, the mod will make a public announcement.
12. The moderator is always right, even when he isn't. Accept the moderator's decisions, and if you want to discuss them, take it to private messages, or do so after the game has finished.

Important: Due to issues in past games, players are asked not to speak to anyone about the game until the game is over, even after you are dead. This includes posting information on your wiki page. Thank you.

Game Rules:

13. Votes should be in the following format:

Vote: Player

. Unambiguous misspellings will be counted as if they were correct. Unvotes should likewise be bolded. You are not required to unvote to switch your vote (but it is recommended for ease of reading).
14. Days will last a maximum of three weeks. If no one has reached a majority by the deadline, no one will be lynched.
15. Nights will last a minimum of 48 hours, and a maximum of 72 hours.
16. Players are expected to make a substantive post at least once every 48 hours (but are encouraged to post at least every day). Players not posting regularly will be prodded/replaced as necessary.

X-shot Vigilante

Each Night, you may attempt to lock up one other player. If successful, that player will be protected from one kill attempt, and also prevented from using any Night abilities. You may use this ability X times during the game.

X-success Tracker

Abilities:

Each Night, you may attempt to follow one other player. If successful, you will be told who that player targeted, if anyone. You may use this ability until you have tracked a player to a target X times - attempts that fail due to Blocking, Hiding, or targeting a player who does not use an ability will not count toward this limit.

You win when all anti-Town players are dead, and at least one member of the Town is alive.

X-success Watcher

Abilities:

Each Night, you may attempt to watch one other player. If successful, you will be told who targeted that player, if anyone. You may use this ability until you have observed a player being targeted X times - attempts that fail due to Blocking, Hiding, or targeting a player who is not targeted by anyone else will not count toward this limit.

You win when all anti-Town players are dead, and at least one member of the Town is alive.

Member of the Secret Eternal Order of the Magic Train

The setup was chosen by a semi-random method. Any role listed has some chance of appearing in the game, and it is possible that a role may appear more than once.

Night abilities will resolve in the following order of precedence:

Hider
Mafia Roleblocker, Jailkeeper (if two blockers target each other, both are blocked from using any other abilities - this includes the Jailkeeper's protection ability).
Everything Else

For the purposes of X-shot roles, if the player attempts to use the role, the attempt counts as 1 shot - even if the attempt fails due to protection, hiding, blocking, etc.

At least, that's our hope. You see, we here at InVy Inc. have noticed some slight irregularities in the makeup of the community. We can't quite put our fingers on it... it could be nothing, in fact. Or, it could be that the system has been infiltrated by a group of evil Llama haters who want to kill you all.

Orientation

Hello, friends. InVy Inc. would like to welcome you once again to your new home. We hope that everything is to your liking.

This orientation film is designed to guide you through the basics of your new life here.

On leaving this building - which you can refer to as the Community Centre for now, though I have no doubt with such creative minds there will soon be a clever informal name for it - you will be on a path which twists and turns and branches out to other buildings. There are, of course, a few public facilities which everyone will frequent - the Dining Hall, the Exercise Suite, the Entertainment Facilities. The majority of the buildings are private housing. Don't worry, these aren't your ordinary cookie-cutter houses. Each has been specifically tailored to meet your personality and any requests you may have had.

Trust is one of the cornerstones of Llamaville, and so we encourage you to practice an open door policy. To that end, there are no locks on the private suites. Of course, it is polite to knock first before entering!

There are a number of basic rules here in Llamaville, which I am sure you will agree are minor inconveniences at the worst, and which are in place to ensure the smooth running of society, so that you can focus on the more important things, such as creative pursuits, fun, and social togetherness. Our staff will take care of the basics of cleanliness, food preparation, mechanical maintenance, and so forth, and as the staff has been carefully selected from amongst highly skilled Ninjas, you will never even know they are here.

In addition to the personality matching, many of you have noteworthy skills which you may find useful in your life here. A printout of these skills can be found on page 84 of your handbook, under the curious heading "Role PMs"... a typo, I'm sure. Unfortunately, the list does not include the names of community members, but if something comes up that requires your skills, feel free to jump into action!

If you have any questions or concerns, please scream for help.

For a few minutes, the only sound in the room is that of the flipping of pages in a score of handbooks. As the new residents of Llamaville read, their brows furrow and their faces become more and more concerned.

Mafia? Lynched? This handbook is confusing. It is starting to become clear that Llamaville isn't the safe community experiment that most signed up for.

There's only one thing to do...

After the impromptu karaoke session, the residents of Llamaville head to their new homes, using the handbook's map (page 13) to guide them. The homes are not large, but definitely well furnished to each individual's taste. The beds are comfortable as well, and it's not long before everyone is sound asleep.

Everyone wakes soon after sunrise, feeling refreshed and full of life. They make their way to the Dining Hall. The first to arrive immediately screams in horror, and the slower ones rush up to see what is the matter.

On the floor, in front of a rather spectacular breakfast buffet, is a man in black. He is clutching at his chest, his hand covered in blood. Or ketchup. But probably blood.

His eyes are open, but he is clearly weak and struggles to talk. Some of the residents crowd around him, unsure what to do. If there is a doctor in the house, he or she clearly recognizes that this man is beyond saving. The man tries to talk again, this time getting out a few faint words:

"Must... the Mafia... stop... trying... kill you all..."

And then he is gone.

After a wonderful breakfast, the residents head to the Community Centre to discuss the unexpected death.

"Clearly he was one of the staff members. Ninjas, she said."

"But how did he die?"

"Killed, obviously. The real question is, by who?"

"Whom."

"Whatever."

"He said something about the Mafia."

"Yeah! And there was something in the handbook about them, too, right?"

"So some of you are Mafia?"

"'Some of you'? You could be Mafia yourself, for all we know."

"But I know I'm not!"

"That's what the Mafia would say."

"We're just getting paranoid now."

"Paranoid! Someone was murdered! I'd say there's plenty to be paranoid about."

"Well, what are we supposed to do about it."

"The community rules say something about lynching."

"Capital punishment? That seems pretty extreme. And we don't even know who did it."

"But maybe we can work it out."

"And kill someone?"

"It's kill or be killed, I'd say. Better the Mafia than me."

And so, after a completely realistic conversation, the residents of Llamaville find themselves on the path to lynching one of their own, in hopes that they can eliminate the Mafia threat before the Mafia kills them all.

Initiation

The discussions in the Community Centre last all day, with only two short breaks.

The first takes place mid-morning, when someone trails off in the middle of making an impassioned plea advocating the death of one "Llamavillain" or another and points at the window.

"What was that?!"

"What was what?"

"I thought I saw..."

Several of the Llamavillians head over to the window, and one of them shouts excitedly.

"There's a man out there!"

"Yes! And he looks strangely familiar..."

"You think so too?"

"I can't think of his name... oh, what was it... on the tip of my tongue... Glerk or something strange like that."

"Never mind that, I want to know what he's doing here!"

"I thought we were alone."

"Except for the ninja staff."

"Well, yes. You don't think he's one of them, do you?"

"The dead one was wearing a black uniform."

"Good point. So why is there a naked man running through Llamaville?"

As if on cue, two other figures appear, one man and one woman. Both are well-dressed, in stylish business attire. Curiously, one - the woman - is entirely in shades of blue, while the other is wearing only green. And it's not even Thursday.

The two stop just outside the Community Centre, where this Gork (or whatever his name is) fellow had just passed moments earlier. They look around, exchange a few words, and then the woman points and the man heads in that direction, while the woman takes the other fork.

The residents of Llamaville watch for a few minutes longer, but nothing happens, and no one is inclined to go chasing after the strangers in the heat of the day.

The second break is for tea.

Several options for the day's main "activity" are suggested, some gaining a good deal of support, but in the end a majority vote is clinched when someone suddenly holds up their handbook and waves it around excitedly.

"Look!"

"Sigh. What now?"

"The list! In the handbook. It has a list of Llamaville residents."

"What about it?"

"Look at it! Do any of you go by the name 'PookyTheMagicalBear'?"

"That's a funny name."

"You're one to talk."

"Shut up."

After some glancing around at nametags, and checking with the list in the handbook, the attention of Llamaville focuses on one person.

"Your name isn't on the list."

"I'm not? Well... I was a last minute replacement. One of the participants cancelled."

"Cancelled, huh? A likely story. You probably had him killed so you could infiltrate us."

"I didn't!"

"Well... you could have! It's as good a reason as any."

On waking the following morning, the residents of Llamaville find two more bodies to deal with. They are known by the names "Claus" and "inHimshallibe". The latter is just an ordinary person, with no remarkable traits or abilities, but Claus is carrying an odd card in his pocket.

"Wait a minute... where are Herodotus and Shabba?"

The residents of Llamaville are on the verge of entering the Community Centre, but stop and look around to find that, indeed, Herodotus and Shabba are missing. Some start to call out, while everyone spreads out and begins a search. The two are soon found tied to the railroad tracks.

"Railroad tracks? I thought this was an idyllic, secluded community. Why are their railroad tracks running behind my house?"

"There are two people tied to them, and you're asking silly questions like that?! Shabba, Herodotus, what in Mr. Llama's name are you doing?"

In the distance, the warning sound of a train horn can be heard, perhaps passing through another small village similar to Llamaville. Herodotus and Shabba raise their heads - slightly, as they are constrained by the ropes - and the others can see tears streaming down their cheeks.

"It was going to be so beautiful..."

"What was going to be so beautiful?"

"The Magic Train."

"The... ok, did you two find some wild mushrooms or something?"

"Just a few more weeks. The ritual is quite specific, it had to happen at a certain time. But now we don't have enough members..."

"For what?"

"The Magic Train!"

"Right. So, let me get this straight. You two and Claus were cooking up some mystical ritual to summon the...

Magic Train

. And now he's dead, so you're off to join him?"

"You don't understand. Peace on Earth!"

"Eternal Happiness!"

"People breaking into song!"

"An end to hunger, war..."

"This is so stupid. But saying we believe you, why are you killing yourselves?"

"We can't bear to live in a world with no Magic Train."

"You've been living in a world with no Magic Train for some time."

"But that was just temporary... Now..."

"Look, why don't you just select a new member? Then you can perform the..."

And so the rest of Llamaville leaves the two remaining Members of the Secret Eternal Order of the Magic Train to their fate. Which is squishy and gross and right on time.

Calculation

The second full day in Llamaville seems to go a bit more slowly than the first. Perhaps the excitement is wearing off for the new residents, or perhaps they have just decided to take a little more time in deciding on someone to kill. Whatever the reason, it is well in the afternoon before the discussions die down and sides are chosen.

Eventually, a majority settles on one Mr. Xylthixlm. One resident suggests that rather than killing him, they should just force him to say his name backwards and see what happens, but this suggestion is ignored. Before the group can lynch him, however, he utters one last plea:

"Wait! You can't kill me!"

"Why not?"

"I'm the programmer responsible for bringing you all here."

"What?"

"Maybe I could hack the InVy Inc. system and learn who the bad guys are!"

"Maybe you're scum trying to get us to help you hack into the system."

"But I'm not!"

"That's what scum would say."

"But I can prove I'm innocent."

"How?"

"Er... oh, right, I guess that would require me to die..."

"Exactly."

Inspiration

Good morning, everyone.

InVy Inc. is constantly working to improve life in Llamaville in any way we can think of. Unfortunately, with some of our creative minds out on other projects, we have noted a distinct lack of inspiration.

One suggestion was that we put all our efforts into finding and eliminating the negative influences of the Mafia group which may - we emphasize the "may", as the existence of such a group is not considered conclusively proven, in spite of the unfortunate events of your first days here - have infiltrated our experiment. This was, of course, immediately laughed at by the rest of us. How could we possibly deprive you of the satisfaction of solving such minor issues yourselves?

Still, when that is given as a serious suggestion, you know we're struggling here, and the idea we've settled on may, admittedly, be scrapping the bottom of the barrel of good ideas... nevertheless...

InVy Inc. is proud to announce the formation of the Llamaville Intramural Gridiron Association. La LIGA will compete against other fine football teams as we can arrange games. No doubt, within a few years of our expert coaching and training, you will be a dangerous football machine, more so because our research shows that the majority of local teams play an inferior "football", and wouldn't know a forward pass if it hit them in the face.

The sun is low in the sky when the citizens of Llamaville reach a decision by the narrowest of margins. As they prepare to lynch populartajo, however, they are interrupted.

"What was that?"

"You heard it too?"

"It sounded like... someone yelling. But far away."

"Someone could be in trouble. Maybe we should..."

"No. Let's finish this first. We've taken long enough reaching this decision..."

The noise heard is, indeed, someone yelling. They are not, however, far away, but rather in a basement under the Community Centre. In order to understand what they have heard, we must first rewind a bit.

"Yes, sir. The list is almost finalized. We had one last minute replacement, but..."

"Good. And none of them are aware of the true nature of the... experiment?"

"We've left little hints that there might be some evil afoot, while denying that there is any actual danger. We'll make sure to keep them paranoid and lynch-happy, but at the most they'll suspect we're incompetent and let criminals into their perfect little village, but they'll never guess that they are part of a television show."

"Good. And the video of this meeting...?"

"This is being recorded?"

"I record everything. See to it that this doesn't make its way to them before the end of the show. Unless it moves the plot along. Now, about the companion show..."

"And this is your crew of psychic monkeys..."

Monty Hall is touring the underground facility with Mr. Grey's assistant. He looks around at the rows of desks, each occupied by a monkey wearing what appears to be an antenna on its head. Monty Hall scratches his own head.

"Psychic... monkeys..."

"Yes, Mr. Hall. Obviously, you'll be far too busy preparing for the show to write your own material. So, these monkeys will figure out who the lynch will be, and attempt to type out a script for you. Between the thousands of them, they'll come up with

something

coherent."

"You people are... weird. But you pay well."

An hour ago...

"Where is my script?!"

A thousand monkeys make the same exasperated sound in response.

"I don't care if you didn't know who was going to be lynched! We're out of time!"

One of the monkeys stands up on its desk and throws down his antenna. The others continue typing furiously.

All the monkeys look at him inquisitively... or is it expectantly?

Some of the monkeys smirk. Some roll their eyes. Most of them shrug. They get paid either way. Cash, not bananas.

It is not quite lunchtime when the residents of Llamaville reach a decision. Of course, one shouldn't lynch on an empty stomach, so they drag roflcopter along, tie him to a chair, and dig in. Today's special? Ice Cream Burgers.

After eating lunch and dessert (at the same time!), they prepare the noose, but are once again interrupted before they can carry out their execution. One of the TV monitors in the Community Centre comes to life.

Good afternoon, friends.

We here at InVy Inc. would like to apologize for some of the unusual events of the past days, and also for our lack of communication regarding them. You see, one of the town's mascots, a llama named Arbuckle, escaped his... er, rather, he wandered from the field in which he lives a free range lifestyle of peace and tranquility, and before we could track him down he managed to chew on a couple of rather important wires cables. Now his hair is sticking straight out, and we've only just now restored communications, both with you and the outside world.

We understand that one of Llamaville's citizens was killed yesterday, and that you have found evidence that he was a member of some criminal organization with murderous intent. We are, of course, shocked, and are doing our best to work out how this could happen. In the meantime, we would like to reassure you that you are perfectly safe, and that the combination of multiple mysterious deaths and a rogue citizen with possible connections to the Mafia are entirely coincidental.

Not at all reassured, the citizens resume their lynch mob mentality, and string roflcopter up.

After he stops twitching, they search his pockets and find a slip of pink paper. The edges are burned, and after some brainstorming on its meaning they come to the conclusion that it was meant to be destroyed to eliminate any incriminating evidence, but roflcopter couldn't bear to lose it and so he pulled this scrap out of the fire. The line, apparently from a poem, reads:

Not settling for just karaoke tonight, the remaining residents of Llamaville - population now only half what it was 4 days ago - set up Guitar Hero, SingStar, and Dance Dance Revolution in the Community Centre, the latter making use of roflcopter's dead body as a playing surface.

Good times are had by most, but when it is Yosarian2's turn at the microphone, he starts to cry.

"What's wrong?"

He ignores the question, runs a hand across his face to wipe the tears away, and starts to sing.

Indemnification

It is a dark, stormy morning. Lightning flashes overhead, and if not for this light the remaining residents of Llamaville might miss the body as they rush to the Community Centre in an attempt to stay as dry as possible. However, as a flash illuminates the ground, one of them catches something out of the corner of an eye and tries to stop and turn. Given the water coating the grass, this of coures has disasterous consequences, and soon the entire population of Llamaville is on the ground, covered in water and mud and grass stains.

The one who started this mess pushes off of the ground and walks over to the body, ignoring the rain. SerialClergyman lies in a pool of mixed blood and muddy water.

"What do you mean they've already lynched someone else?! It's not even 9am!"

"The perils of doing live television, Mr. Hall."

"Well, I can't go on without my makeup. We're on HD! And that takes at least two hours. Not to mention wardrobe, and..."

An impatient Mr. Grey, already annoyed at having to take time away movie production to sort out this hold up on the television show, stands and tosses a folder on Monty Hall's desk.

"We have a contract, Mr. Hall. And I am sure you wouldn't want to break that contract... you know the consequences."

Monty Hall gulps. He looks away from Mr. Grey's cold gaze at the folder. He know what's inside. A photo that makes him ill to look at.

"I am glad we have an understanding. You have five minutes. I'll have my assistant notify lighting, I'm sure they will be able to work some magic and ease your high definition concerns."

Mr. Grey turns to leave. Monty Hall watches until the door shuts, then turns to the mirror above his desk and messes with his hair. He glances down again at the folder. Unable to resist, he reaches down and opens up the folder to reveal...



After puking in the sink, Monty Hall leaves his dressing room and hurries to the set.

zu_Faul hasn't made it to the Community Centre when the others decide that he will be the next to feel the noose tighten around his neck. He is still in his living quarters, brushing his teeth.

After scrubbing thoroughly, flossing, gargling with some sort of awful tasting liquid which claims to be just as effective as flossing, and wondering how much more effective both flossing and using mouthwash is than just doing one or the other, he dries his hair and dresses.

It is still quite early in the morning, and, unaware that the others are already awake and hungry for the blood of the guilty, he picks up the Llamaville Gazette - a collection of noteworthy news, comics, fake news, and classified ads. He circles a couple of ads - one for a knife, one for a semi-automatic - reads a funny story about the Nobel prize, and then tosses the paper aside, ready to face the day.

He is not, however, ready to face the lynch mob which has formed outside his door.

Confrontation

The production team of InVy Inc. is sitting around an elliptical table, tossing around ideas about how best promote the product going into the final episodes, when the door bursts open and a young man with a handheld camera rushes in.

"I got it! I got it!"

The crew has been trying to capture an actual murder on camera for their viewing audience, but in addition to the legal difficulties involved they have simply been unable to catch the Mafia in the act. Secret cameras have been disabled, tails have been lost (one was later found upside down in a garbage bin by the ninja janitorial staff, unable to remember how he had arrived there)... the Mafia sure know how to sneak around. So, naturally, the production crew is excited that they finally have something to show.

Through his window, the camera shows Kmd4390 is cleaning his gun. It is dark - the middle of the night. It is unclear whether he is about to head out to shoot someone, or if he just can't sleep. His face is lit only by the moonlight streaming through the window; the cameraman is careful to avoid casting any shadows.

There is a soft metallic sound as the front door is picked. The camera jerks around to see who is entering, but the intruder has already made his way inside. The view shifts back to the vigilante, who is now standing facing the door. The knob turns, barely visible in the low light but seen due to the changes in the light it reflects, and...

"Really? I guess we shouldn't be surprised, after everything else that has gone wrong, but... that's kinda lame."

Good morning, Llamaville residents.

By now, you have found the body. There are only four of you remaining. The most recent death is tragic... not only because human life is always precious, which is obviously the case, but also because we are rendered unable to showcase our latest invention, the Violent Entanglement Genetic Fulcrum - VEnGeFul, for short. The dearly departed was a test subject. Had he been lynched, he would have had the opportunity to trigger the device, taking someone else with him. Unfortunately, it only works with rope. Funny, isn't it?

No matter. There are four of you left. As you have no doubt worked out by now, one of you is evil. Our crack team of researchers have finally solved the mystery of how the Mafia have infiltrated your community, but...

The tape cuts off as one of the residents pulls the plug.

"We already know how. Invy Inc. let them in to play a game with us. The question is, do we want to continue their game, or make a stand? If we refuse to play, what are they going to do?"

Meanwhile, in Peru, charter and elvis_knits lead the final meeting in the Community Centre, asking the other two, PookyTheMagicalBear and VP Baltar, to defend their actions. Their "interview" is interrupted by charter making a discovery.

"Hey... where does that door over there lead? I've never noticed it before."

"Maybe it hasn't been here before..."

"Ok, now you're creeping me out."

"Just kidding. I think it's a library or something. Why?"

"I... don't know. Just a hunch. I'll be right back."

charter walks over to the door and pushes it open. The walls of the room beyond the door are lined with shelves, but rather than books they contain...

"Video tapes! Is this what I think it is?"

charter rushes into the room, grabs a tape, and brings it back out to where their morning greeting plays. He pushes the tape in and the screen comes to life with a view of this very room - only from six days previous. Rather than just four, there are twenty people on the screen.

"They've left us tapes of everything that's happened this week!"

"So? We were here the whole time."

"Yeah, but it couldn't hurt to refresh our memories. Maybe we've forgotten something."

"That could take forever."

"We've got all day. No point rushing into a decision..."

Across the country, millions* tune in to the show. Rather than being greeted with the traditional introduction involving Monty Hall, the audience is given something a bit more... dramatic.

He thought he had it all figured out...

Resolution

elvis_knits, PookyTheMagicalBear, and VP Baltar are all staring at charter, who is standing in the middle of the room with his fist raised.

It is many hours after the discovery of the video tapes. PookyTheMagicalBear and VP Baltar have been using them to try to prove their own innocence, while charter and elvis_knits have been playing over particular scenes which they feel are important in uncovering the truth. charter is the first to reach a conclusion, but when elvis_knits reaches the same conclusion he stands and with a deep, booming voice, says:

"I AM TREESTUMP."

A stark silence follows as the other three stare dumbly at him, while charter himself stands waiting for something to happen. Finally, elvis_knits speaks up.

"Er... what are you doing? That wasn't even a grammatically correct sentence, much less one that made any sense at all."

"It's my special gift. I'm a Treestump."

"Right... you're a treestump."

"I am! I say my magical phrase... which I guess I botched... and then I die..."

"You were trying to kill yourself?"

"But in a good way!"

"This should be good."

"I shed my human form, chop myself down so to speak, but retain the ability to communicate with you in spite of my stumpishness."

"..."

"And then, having proven my innocence, we still have a chance to find the evil among us. Because there would be three of you left alive, two innocent, one scum."

"That's stupid. Did the producers put you up to this?"

"No! I'm being serious here!"

"Look, it doesn't matter. I don't think you're scum. I don't want to lynch you. So it doesn't matter if you prove yourself or not. Can we just lynch VP Baltar here yet?"

"Oh. Fine."

"Pooky wants to vote Baltar lol."

"There, we're unanimous."

"Do you have anything to say for yourself, VP Baltar?"

VP Baltar looks back and forth between the three of them, sweat dripping from his forehead. He has exhausted himself, spending the entire day passionately defending his actions and trying to persuade them to lynch PookyTheMagicalBear instead, but it hasn't helped. The deck has been stacked against him.

With a sigh, he utters his final words:

"LOOK! THE TEDDY BEAR IS LAUGHING!"

Then he attempts to run away.

He doesn't get very far. Thousands* of fans have purchased tickets and flown to Peru for the live finale, and outside the Community Centre they are watching on large screens. VP Baltar throws open the doors to find that... a mob has formed.

The post-finale wrap up show is a huge disappointment for Monty Hall. For one thing, this charter guy won't stop talking about his magical Treestump powers. elvis_knits keeps sniffing his butt. She's very different in the flesh. Or fur, to be more accurate. And PookyTheMagicalBear ends every other sentence with "lol", as if it were a real word.

He had hoped to have interviews with the other participants in the game... but sadly, none of them are available. He isn't able to get any solid information about that from the higher-ups, but conspiracy theories are already popping up on the interwebs that the deaths were real and that Mr. Grey and his entire organization should be prosecuted. Monty Hall is already considering whether he should stay in Peru to avoid the legal mess sure to ensue. There's nothing left for him in the United States... Wayne Brady has taken everything important to him. Who knows... maybe a Peruvian Let's Make a Deal with llamas could work...

QuickTopic links, Night Actions, and Setup Generation info are now updated. I'll have some comments, but probably not until later in the week.

For now, I'll say that this was a fantastic experience as a mod. I checked for new posts in this game constantly to see what was happening, and of course the participation was great. We only had one replacement after the pregame, alexhans didn't just disappear and did let us know he was going to need replacement, and Pooky - one of the original 20 picked - was available to replace in.

Re: The Setup

The setup was largely inspired by various Open setups - Vengeful (both the Vengeful Townie, and the Traitor variation which dies with the Godfather), Lovers, Pie E7, several C9 variations (Bodyguard C9, for example), Treestump, probably some others - combined with a theme of "weakened normal roles". My first draft of the setup basically included a list of the most common "normal" roles, with the intention of picking 1-2 at random to keep at full strength and 2-3 of the others in weakened form (some of the weakened roles didn't make it into this setup, but might appear in some future game, or in an open setup design). I eventually revamped the thing to go with something more C9-esque.

The weakend Cop roles were meant to be roughly equal in strength, though the Vanilla Cop would probably have been a bit stronger. Ditto for the protection roles (not sure Hider would have been stronger, but definitely would have been more swingy). The rest of the roles were coupled C9 style with Vengeful Townie/Treestump, leaving the potential for either a lot of limited shot roles or a lot of "lynch do-over" roles (ended up getting a 2-2 split). The remaining non-train slot was mostly so I could truthfully claim that all the roles listed were possible and could be duplicated.

Happy with the balance... and the semi-open nature of the setup was successful in that "outguessing the mod" wasn't much of a factor while there was lots of room for strategy in the use of the roles and for fake claims.
