Meanwhile, in Peru, charter and elvis_knits lead the final meeting in the Community Centre, asking the other two, PookyTheMagicalBear and VP Baltar, to defend their actions. Their "interview" is interrupted by charter making a discovery.

"Hey... where does that door over there lead? I've never noticed it before."

"Maybe it hasn't been here before..."

"Ok, now you're creeping me out."

"Just kidding. I think it's a library or something. Why?"

"I... don't know. Just a hunch. I'll be right back."

charter walks over to the door and pushes it open. The walls of the room beyond the door are lined with shelves, but rather than books they contain...

"Video tapes! Is this what I think it is?"

charter rushes into the room, grabs a tape, and brings it back out to where their morning greeting plays. He pushes the tape in and the screen comes to life with a view of this very room - only from six days previous. Rather than just four, there are twenty people on the screen.

"They've left us tapes of everything that's happened this week!"

"So? We were here the whole time."

"Yeah, but it couldn't hurt to refresh our memories. Maybe we've forgotten something."

"That could take forever."

"We've got all day. No point rushing into a decision..."

Across the country, millions* tune in to the show. Rather than being greeted with the traditional introduction involving Monty Hall, the audience is given something a bit more... dramatic.

He thought he had it all figured out...

Resolution

elvis_knits, PookyTheMagicalBear, and VP Baltar are all staring at charter, who is standing in the middle of the room with his fist raised.

It is many hours after the discovery of the video tapes. PookyTheMagicalBear and VP Baltar have been using them to try to prove their own innocence, while charter and elvis_knits have been playing over particular scenes which they feel are important in uncovering the truth. charter is the first to reach a conclusion, but when elvis_knits reaches the same conclusion he stands and with a deep, booming voice, says:

"I AM TREESTUMP."

A stark silence follows as the other three stare dumbly at him, while charter himself stands waiting for something to happen. Finally, elvis_knits speaks up.

"Er... what are you doing? That wasn't even a grammatically correct sentence, much less one that made any sense at all."

"It's my special gift. I'm a Treestump."

"Right... you're a treestump."

"I am! I say my magical phrase... which I guess I botched... and then I die..."

"You were trying to kill yourself?"

"But in a good way!"

"This should be good."

"I shed my human form, chop myself down so to speak, but retain the ability to communicate with you in spite of my stumpishness."

"..."

"And then, having proven my innocence, we still have a chance to find the evil among us. Because there would be three of you left alive, two innocent, one scum."

"That's stupid. Did the producers put you up to this?"

"No! I'm being serious here!"

"Look, it doesn't matter. I don't think you're scum. I don't want to lynch you. So it doesn't matter if you prove yourself or not. Can we just lynch VP Baltar here yet?"

"Oh. Fine."

"Pooky wants to vote Baltar lol."

"There, we're unanimous."

"Do you have anything to say for yourself, VP Baltar?"

VP Baltar looks back and forth between the three of them, sweat dripping from his forehead. He has exhausted himself, spending the entire day passionately defending his actions and trying to persuade them to lynch PookyTheMagicalBear instead, but it hasn't helped. The deck has been stacked against him.

With a sigh, he utters his final words:

"LOOK! THE TEDDY BEAR IS LAUGHING!"

Then he attempts to run away.

He doesn't get very far. Thousands* of fans have purchased tickets and flown to Peru for the live finale, and outside the Community Centre they are watching on large screens. VP Baltar throws open the doors to find that... a mob has formed.

The post-finale wrap up show is a huge disappointment for Monty Hall. For one thing, this charter guy won't stop talking about his magical Treestump powers. elvis_knits keeps sniffing his butt. She's very different in the flesh. Or fur, to be more accurate. And PookyTheMagicalBear ends every other sentence with "lol", as if it were a real word.

He had hoped to have interviews with the other participants in the game... but sadly, none of them are available. He isn't able to get any solid information about that from the higher-ups, but conspiracy theories are already popping up on the interwebs that the deaths were real and that Mr. Grey and his entire organization should be prosecuted. Monty Hall is already considering whether he should stay in Peru to avoid the legal mess sure to ensue. There's nothing left for him in the United States... Wayne Brady has taken everything important to him. Who knows... maybe a Peruvian Let's Make a Deal with llamas could work...

OMG! Good game everyone!

That was a scary ending! VP, you made it pretty far. It was just how all your buddies defended you. Did you guys plan it all, with the claims? Was that spur of the moment or a big plan? It almost worked...

Looking back at my old scum lists is painful. I blame my love of bunnies. I was really hoping not to screw up the endgame... I didn't want to let down all the townies I stupidly helped slaughter.

Anyway... I had lots of fun. This /invitiational thing was such a good idea. I loved playing with this group of people.

For now, I'll say that this was a fantastic experience as a mod. I checked for new posts in this game constantly to see what was happening, and of course the participation was great. We only had one replacement after the pregame, alexhans didn't just disappear and did let us know he was going to need replacement, and Pooky - one of the original 20 picked - was available to replace in.

Well played all. It's nice being in a game with such good players. I'd rather have played longer, but it was fun to read even after I died. Fortunately the townies made all the right decisions, except Thesp. (Honestly I would have lynched Pooky instead of Thesp.)

really bad idea

. Particularly when the last link in the chain isn't a cop. If you confirm someone people think is scum, they'll just lynch you first unless you claimed a very useful role such as cop.

Yos: yes, I could have probably saved myself if I had defended earlier and harder. But then I wouldn't have sucked all the scum onto my wagon like a giant tar baby. I think pushing my lynch ended up hurting you guys way, way more than it helped.
