General Rules

2. Play to fulfill your win condition. If you deliberately go against your team for any reason other than to win the game, you will be modkilled at the mods' discretion.
   
3. A lynch requires a majority vote, or greater than half or the remaining players. Vote in the following format:
   Vote: Player

   Unvotes ARE required to change your vote.
   You may vote using abbreviated names if the abbreviation can only reasonably be interpreted as one player.
   
4. You may
   Vote: No Lynch
   , which requires a majority (or half if the number of players is even) to take effect. Relatedly, if a majority is not reached before deadline, day will end in a No Lynch.
   
5. When a majority is reached, day goes into Twilight until the mods announce the beginning of the night phase.
   Players are NOT allowed to post during Twilight if they have just been lynched.
   
   
6. "Bah" posts are NOT allowed.
   If you are dead, stay dead.
   
7. Do not communicate outside this thread without permission. You will be told if you are an exception to this rule.
   
8. Deadlines for each night phase are 72 hours from the end of day post. If your night action PM is not received during this 72 hour period, your role will be counted as having taken no action. If you have a power but choose not to use it, please send a PM specifying that you wish to take no action.

The Guardians watched their chosen warriors set off from the planet Oa one by one, hoping that they would be enough to stem the accursed black tide. But before all of them had exited the atmosphere, one of the Guardians suddenly noticed a shadowed figure hovering over their planet.
"Tell us your name, stranger, or be executed in the name of the Green Lantern Corps. We are mobilizing for war, and do not have time to waste."

The shadowy figure replied in a deep voice, "I am Ganthet, returned from far away to my homeland."

"Ganthet is not supposed to be back for weeks!", the Guardian exclaimed. Then the remaining good lanterns turned their beams to the shadowy stranger and shot him out of the sky. When his body hit the ground, acidic blood spewed everywhere, destroying the plant life around it. Although it was only a beginning to this fearsome battle, they knew a great foe had already been conquered.

Lex Luthor sat in his office on the 37th floor of LexCorp in Metropolis, flipping through company files as usual. Suddenly, the room lit up with bright Orange.
"YOU HAVE BEEN GRANTED THE POWER OF AVARICE," a mysterious voice said. And then a ring flew onto Lex's finger. He felt much more powerful suddenly, and also felt much more...greedy. Considering his current massive fortune, this was saying a lot. He was lifted up into the air, crashed out of the giant window in his office, and headed straight up to the atmosphere.
"Hey! Put me down, you stupid ring!" Lex protested. But it was no use. It formed a large suit of armor around him and transported him into space. Not long afterwards, a huge field of lights started heading his way. All the colors of the rainbow streaked across the blackness like brightly colored comets, both wonderful and terrible to behold. Without question, the leading lantern yelled, "He's an Orange Lantern, boys, hit 'im hard!"
And so they did. Shorty after receiving great power, Lex Luthor was turned into space dust by many huge blasts of light.

The atmosphere in the halls of justice was serious, but hopeful. Two heroes killed at night, and one, just a single one (but how many can be stomached, really, before one becomes the same monster one is trying to fight), tragically slain in the name of justice yesterday.

The greatest supercomputers known to man whirr and hum, the finest minds on the planet ponder and mediate, and yet what is to say that they can sift the immeasurable mass of information they see, sift it, determine the gems and the dross. Even the best and the brightest are humbled, seeing the task laid before them.

Still, serious but hopeful, serious but hopeful. The mantra percolates through their minds. And those minds focus quickly on a single suspect. Apokaylptika, they whisper. Apokaylptika, the whirr of the machines seems to chant. Apokaylptika.


First slowly, then as a mass, the heroes begin to move towards Apokaylptika. He barely seems to offer a defense, and the verdict is reached.

"Guilty," Hiplop cries, reaching out and grasping the shirt of the innocent looking man standing before you. "

Hiplop's hand tears away the suit and the shirt, revealing a familiar logo. A logo every hero knows. A logo that is burned in the minds of every child who aspires to put on a cape, every kid with powers that wants to change things. The cynical may scoff, the villainous may mock, but every heart knows a feeling of respect when they see it.

A red diamond. A yellow background. A large red S.

Hiplop stops, momentarily silenced by that logo, what it stands for. In the moment where he stands, open-mouthed, and stares, he is totally unprepared. Unprepared for the bright red beams that lance from Apokaylptika's eyes, unprepared for their force, the overwhelming heat. Hiplop is driven against the wall, slamming into it. Magically-strengthened alloys moan from the impact.

And then? Then he is amongst you. Faster than you can see. Faster than you can imagine seeing. Casual blows land like freight trains. Countering is impossible, dodging unlikely, the speed and precision betrays the skills of the wielder. For a moment, for a moment, everyone has to wonder. Earth's strongest heroes. Collected here. And together, are they worthy? Ten heroes are not so different from ten men, and are ten men a match for one... Superman?

Then a blow from behind. Magical energies crackle against his skin, and Apokaylptika screams. His skin boils and evaporates, revealing the metal bones beneath.

Metal bones?

Apokaylptika arm morphs, forming an energy cannon, and blasts his attackers anew. Heat rays fly from his eyes, incomprehensible energies scream at the end of weapons that didn't exist seconds earlier. Each one falls back now, Kast, Oversoul, zMuffinman. Friend and inHIm circle from behind, seeking to attack, but sensors catch their movement and send missiles screaming towards them. Everyone eyes him warily. If he reaches the computers, the computers at the halls of justice...

It is not to be. In a moment of distraction, CandleJack strikes. A powerful blow, shattering forcefields, and then the heroes are upon Apokaylptika.

Magic tears invulnerable skin, blows shatter unbreakable alloys, energy consumes that which can never die.

As one, you survey the torn remanents of Apokaylptika on the floor. They still move, weakly. You hear him gasp, his last words questions.

"Is this it? Is this the end?"

He sounds hopeful. Happy.

Unfortunately for Hank Henshaw, this probably isn't the end. Probably isn't the last. The technology he has fused with will never let him die, body returned time and again, strong as ever, ready to throw himself into combat. Leap into the heart of a supernova, plunge into the depths of a black hole, if but one single machine, one mote as infinitesimal as a speck of dust remains behind then Hank Henshaw will, against all his desires, return.

But it is

As you enter the earth's atmosphere, you increase your body-shields to full power to withstand the heat of re-entry. The few who happen to be looking up at the moment stare in awe as the multi-colored comet comes down to meet them. One observer in particular is especially wary of your arrival. Mera, Queen of the Sea, has noticed the disturbance, and rises from the ocean depths to assess the threat. Coming with her, though, are many dead and decaying remains of giant fish, ranging from sharks and whales to near-mythical creatures such as the ancient water-dwelling dinosaurs. Even from a thousand feet above the surface of the water, you can tell there is something wrong here. The fish and reptiles look exactly like the Black Lanterns, except less human (if that were possible).
"Look at the foul creatures following her!", one of you shouts.
"Our fight against the Black Lanterns has already begun?"
"Eh, leave it to me," a gruff voice assures.
With a mighty green blast, a huge hole is cut through the sea of black, vaporizing their "leader", Mera.
But the beasts do not halt. Suddenly, you realize that your fight was not against the Atlantean queen, but against the monsters that were apparently not under her command. The monsters scatter, realizing they stand little chance against flying threats. You will have to look elsewhere for the source of this plague.

When you finally reach Metropolis, your destination, you are all shocked speechless. There is hardly a city block in sight that is not swarming with Black Lanterns of all races, abilities, and ages. And standing in the center of it all stand three shadowy figures, who appear to be the leaders of this terrible mindless herd. Actually, I think I understand where the confusion comes from. We're not using the "Golden Rule", from what I can tell. When you were not able to beat the Black Lanterns yourself, Ganthet helped you program your ring to choose someone else (who ended up being Lex Luthor) to represent the Orange Lantern Corps for 24 hours. You definitely plan on getting it back, along with plenty of other rings.

So you can imagine how long it took me to write those. And that was after getting the setup worked on by at least 7 different people. It was a blast, though, and I think it was well worth the time and effort.
On a less positive note, some of you guys really need to learn to just play the game. There were a lot of questions and setup speculation and attempts to outguess me that took a lot of time and ended up leading nowhere. I don't recall seeing any game as a player where there were modkill-requests on 6 different players, for instance. Sure it's part of the game in a way, and I am obligated to answer questions like that, but halfway through this game, town was doing terribly, because many players were not focusing on just catching scum and cult by what they said about other players.

My Thank-You's:
1) Dekes. This guy was invaluable, and a lot of times he did his work in such a way that you didn't even know I wasn't there. A couple of times, I had my internet connection die for days, and a couple of times I was too busy to even log on for a day or so, and he was almost always there to pick up the slack. I'm not exactly sure where he disappeared to at the end of the game. Sometimes it seemed like it was the Dead QT. At any rate, when I needed him, he was there.

2) GreyICE. He helped a ton with the setup, role PMs, and some of the PR in the Dead QT. Yeah, we needed a lot of that this game.

3) The other guys who looked at the setup. ReaperCharlie especially, but there were quite a few people who at least gave it a glance and gave their $.02. No, ReaperCharlie didn't make any huge changes to the setup, but I knew he would catch something if it was really awful.

4) All the players, of course. Even the ones who cried "bad modding" every time their team was doing badly. Yes, you know who you are.

And what would have happened if I had downgraded an upgraded ability?

Let's not get into that. It would take a long time, and I don't think anyone cares that much.
