When the last remnants of Salvatore Panucci's mob were removed from New Catania, the citizens believed they were entering a new era of peace and prosperity. How wrong they were. Organised crime, like nature, abhors a vacuum. Just over a year had passed since the last of Panucci's goons had been lynched, and a familiar report greeted viewers of the Breakfast News- another prominent citizen had been found dead in an abandoned warehouse, his body riddled with bullets.

But on the bright side, at least the citizens knew exactly what to do!

1.)
This game begins with day. Day one will start when everyone has confirmed via PM. Any group which has an ability to communicate at night may also communicate before the first day begins.

2.) During the day you can vote for a player that you think should be lynched. Votes must be in the form Vote: Player otherwise they won't be counted. Players do not need to unvote when switching their votes, but it would be appreciated. All votes and unvotes must be in bold. It is also possible to vote no-lynch.

3.) When a player (or abstract concept) reaches a majority of votes, they are lynched. I will reveal their role, and the game will move into night. No discussion takes place during the night, except amongst roles who have been given specific permission to do so.

4.) This game will have automatic deadlines of two months for day one, and one month for all days thereafter. There will be no extensions, save for those caused by my being unable to access the site for a short period after the posted deadline. Should the deadline hit without a majority being achieved, there will be no lynch.

5.) No talking to other players, dead or alive, outside of the thread, unless your role specifically permits it.

6.) Once dead, you stop posting. A bah post is fine though.

7.) If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

8.) Try to post as often as possible. Treat the game as a committment. If you go inactive, you will be replaced.

9.) I'll try to post votecounts as often as possible. Feel free to ask for a votecount at any time.

10.) Do not make verbally abuse any participants of this game at any point. This is a game, and I will not tolerate childish insults. Any personal attacks will result in punishments-up to and including Modkills.

11.) Do not in any way quote or fakequote your role PM. This is a modkillable offence. Any attempt to ascertain another players' role from the wording of their PM will be dealt with likewise.

At the end of a long and tiring day, two candidates had emerged for lynching. With the setting sun acting as a reminder to the townspeople of their desire to return to the safety of their homes before nightfall, a consensus emerged that the one known as

was the most likely of their number to be involved in the killings.

As twelve of his friends and neighbors attached the noose to his neck, Seraphim had two thoughts. 'What did I do?' was the first. 'What's going to happen to all the beer in my fridge?' was the other.

There are many answers to the former. The answer to the latter is that they were taken by various members of the lynch mob, who searched his house for indications of ties to criminal organisations, but found nothing but a month's supply of chilled beverages. Ah well, when life gives you lemons...

Right. Here's the situation. According to the way that night actions were submitted last night, Claus should not have died. The militant and Shanba kills were kosher.

In order to mitigate the detriment to town caused by the mistake, Claus will be turned into a Tree Stump for the remainder of the current day. This means that, if he so wishes, he will be permitted to post in thread and supply his opinions and investigation results if he has received one, but he will be unable to vote, and will not count as a living player for the purposes of the number to lynch. At the end of the day, he will revert to being a dead player, and all the usual rules apply (except that he will not be permitted a bah post for obvious reasons).

I say this from a position of not knowing who Claus chose to investigate, or if any other roles which might exist have interfered with his investigation.

I hope everyone is OK with this compromise- to my mind, it mitigates the impact of the mistake on the town, without unfairly penalising antitown elements by leaving him alive and confirmed.

Felipe was very much like any other urchin growing up on the streets of Medellin. He spent his youth playing soccer, and trying to avoid getting killed by the rival gangs who fought for control of the drugs trade in the city. Then, when he reached his teens, he joined one of them. Secretly, he loathed the entire business, and was delighted when he got assigned to a cell scouting out a small American town as a possible base for a move in the lucrative US market. He thought it would be a much less dicey proposition than dodging bullets at home. He obviously hadn't figured with the locals' preference for rope.

Hoopla

was a well-respected and long-serving member of the New Catania ambulance service. As of last night, though, it seems he's attended his last emergency. Hoopla was known for his sense of humor and playing Peter Gabriel songs as he sped around the town en route to one accident or another. The ironic killings division therefore awards top marks to whoever it was who caved in his skull with a Sledgehammer.

Less well known was

Elmo

. A quiet kind of chap, the most remarkable thing about him was his death- blown up by a hand grenade cunningly concealed inside a pineapple.

Few people wept for

Skitzer,

who was known as a lying, thieving piece of crap... to his friends. Few realised the efforts he'd made to clean up his act in the last few years. Well, now they'll have to clean up his blood, after he was brutally decapitated.

The life of a criminal can be exciting and glamorous, especially for those at the top. Pablo Solis Vallejo, for instance, is known to own several villas, at least one yacht, and to have flunkies at his beck and call.

For those further down the foodchain, though, the criminal life is most likely nasty, brutish, and short. Such was the case for one of Vallejo's entry-level operatives,

who was found by his landlady, lying in a large pool of blood on the floor of his dingy appartment. His throat had been cut.

Fonz, why didn't you replace adel into the colombian team? Putting her in the Florida team in a stage where the game was a bunch of lurkers and Yos was kinda boring. Also, unless you gave the scum some handcap you're not telling us, I disagree with the way you handled the miskill - you basically gave the two scum groups one extra kill by keeping me dead day three - They should have been forced to spend a kill on me, just like they would if the mod error didn't happen.

I take it as a point of principle to replace the players in the same order they flake. Anything else just leads to lots of OGM.

The idea of this setup, basically, was to punish lazy assumptions. So, there were both two cops, and two millers. On the scum side, the 1-shot doc was added to protect the first cop to claim- which would punish scum if they then assumed the cop would be protected indefinitely. The vig I actually put in to help the scum by speeding up the game with extra nightkills. I basically wanted to demonstrate that trigger-happy vigs are detrimental unless their accuracy is particularly good.

A word on the SSK situation- I hope people can see the rationale in stumping the cop, giving the doc his protection back, and leaving it there. Any further action I could have taken I feel would have further distorted the game- in particular Ecto's suggestion that i 'bump a townie up to cop' which would have basically confirmed that player. Since the doctor died the next night anyway, we can assume that the mistake cost the town one investigation, at most (since the scum who killed the doctor would presumably have either done what they actually did, or targeted the cop, had the protection gone through).

Whoever targetted me. They would have lost their kill to the doc the first time anyway.

Now imagine they'd used that kill for a crosskill. Removing the kill from one scumgroup just benefits the other, since they get the benefit of dead cop, and lose the risk of crosskill.

Basically, any mod intervention just ran the risk of distorting things more. My intention was just to mitigate the direct effects of the mistake, rather than try to counterbalance it.
