Sorry for not being here, I'm pseudo-V/LA due to the fact that yesterday my ISP decided to block Mafiascum at my house. I can see it at work and I can catch up here, just unfortunately, I won't be as active as I would like to be.


@Sudai - It's not RVS if you have a reason. I wasn't trying to delay the start more than the fact that it's summer and maybe our last person had some RL stuff going on, and might have not known that we were ready to start.

I actually have been busy this week. I'm in the military and I'm about to head out for my 3rd watch of this week. My friends had their second baby on Weds and I was the babysitter for their older son, and on top of all that I had my Physics final/last class last night. The watch I'm on today is 12 hours with no internet access so you won't here back from me until around 6 pm or so my time (GMT +1).

I have been reading along though and have posted my thoughts as we have gone. Unfortunately, it seems that's not enough, but I do find it contradictory that HeadHoncho is coming after me when he only started posting legitimately a few days ago.

I would think that a black card (the opposite of white in the game) would be mafia.

In the whole of Magic, just like chenhsi said about the 5 color spirits and humans, there are 5 color slivers.

What you just said about the scum being slivers is quite an assumption to make when you think about the whole line of Magic: the Gathering cards.

Do not assume that I do not play. I have been playing for close to 10 years now, just because most people I know prefer to play casually together rather than in a regional tournament DOES NOT make us less knowledgable. So quit this ad hom attack on those of us who do play casually.

Anything that distracts unduly from the people in this specific game is not a good idea, and I think focusing a bunch of attention and posts on the other games falls under that.

None of which really makes any sense. Firstly I don't really get why Zwet playing 'different than he normally does' would be ANY kind of defense for Zwet, since normally you are a townie. Whoot didn't do any speculating at all which would help figure out town power roles, he yammered about magic cards. Along with some of your later posts assuring the town that the whoot lynch was definitely justified I get a strong CYA vibe.

I'm guessing that you haven't really played with Zwet. He definitely has a playstyle all his own. I have played quite a few games with him since joining this site, and I normally have a very difficult time reading him. This game though he was just acting very different from other games that we have played, and anyone else who has played with zwet extensively probably saw what I saw.

Did you happen to forget that this game is based on Magic: the Gathering? So Whoot "yammering on" about magic cards is definite speculation in my opinion.

I also did mention the fact that my ISP did block Mafiascum for a bit at my house, and I could only reply or post from work, but apparently you missed that too? Just fyi, I'm an American in the United States Navy and I currently live in Sicily, and my internet service at home is Italian. Sometimes I can get to the sites I frequent and sometimes I can't. Currently now, I'm able to get to MS at home, but during that time period I was not.

I really don't know how I can prove that I'm a BP. It's what I am. It's why I'm not on zwet's train. This technically is a 36 person game, is it that hard to believe that there may be 2 BPs? Especially when people can switch to a different "realm"?

My case on Head Honcho

Bear with me, it's long because I'm rewriting this all for our newer players as well as everyone who doesn't want to read back.


1. In post 202, Head Honcho said that I went through all of Day 1 without saying anything.

Since our game was the last to start, I (like mostly everyone else) decided to catch up on the other two games. I helped explain some flavor by looking up the card that zwet said he was, and I also stated that zwet was playing differently. Obviously for those who haven't played with zwet, they will jump all over the ass of someone who states that, but he was, at least for me.



2. In post 207, Head Honcho asks why I would make our game a lower priority than others.

He jumps on me because I wanted to know what was going on in our interlinked realms.



3. In post 210, he accuses me of avoiding posting.

It seems odd to me that he is all over me about reading up on other games, but not all over anyone else, which is why I said in post 211 that he was strawmanning very much (which turns into a bigger issue later on down the line) and I asked him where I avoided. He completely ignores this question.

I also did post that I was having some issues with the ISP at my house, which can also be found in the V/LA thread.



4. In post 218 on page 9, he replies to Slicey's meta read on me and that's it for him posting about me for awhile until page 16 in post 395.



5. In post 339, I quote Head Honcho saying that whoot would be a good candidate, and I read him in iso and didn't see any place where he said that whoot would be a good candidate. I asked him to show us where he said this, and he ignores this question too.



6. He finally comes back into the game and starting his push on me all over again with post 395. He says he dropped the push on me because I made the point about strawmanning, which he was (refer to #3 for more info).

He also says that he kept his vote on me because of a post I directed at whoot. He doesn't understand how noticing that Zwet is playing differently could be any type of defense for him. He was acting quite a bit differently for me, and I wanted to point that out also because of how closely alike my role is with his. He also doesn't understand why I saw whoot as speculating or "yammering on about magic cards".



7. In post 411, Head Honcho still doesn't understand where he was strawmanning. He says he was very clear about how he felt about the whoot lynch. I didn't see much of where he was clear during it, but he sure made the point afterwards.



8. He also seems very overeager to read my meta. If he wanted to see all the games that I've played in, all he'd have to do is read my Wiki page. They are all listed there including my alignments.



9. I state why I feel the way I feel about Head Honcho during our 1v1 which starts with my post 444, and it's strawmanning because you were trying to build a case on me for reading the other games when mostly everyone else was doing the same thing. Even after I explain myself, he keeps repeating the same question over and over which is why I was getting frustrated.



10. In post 456, he starts speculating in his first paragraph about what I am thinking, which is completely wrong. He also continues his ad hom attacks on me (I stated his earlier ones during our 1v1). He also brings up everything about Zwet, which I stated why earlier in this post and in my latest postings of the game as to why I didn't delve further into that.



11. I also do not care for how quickly he bounces around his vote. I did state earlier that it definitely seems like he wants a lynch, as long as it isn't him. It also bothers me that he feels the need to call attention to himself via post 492, and how he is just asking people to vote for me when his case on me is so weak.



12. In post 499, he restates his previous post and then calls me out on misrepresenting him. In everything, I think there is one point that I did misrepresent him on which was the point of him only starting posting that recently, and I admit to that. It was my fault. He hadn't been around much at all, and I had thought he just started posting. Other than that though, he has been misrepresenting me moreso than I have him.

I definitely am starting to think that Slicey may have been lying to us, and that role may be more than a "one shot vig". Obviously Bogre can't answer for Slicey's actions, but it's my thought process currently.

Chances are good that the two mafias this game are Slivers and Volrath's underlings. I'm willing to believe this since it doesn't make sense flavorwise to have two different groups slivers in the same game.

There have been a couple independents in the game like the cult and star-crossed lovers. Maybe he's not mafia or town, but of his own faction?

It could definitely correlate with why he was active lurking, but then again, Bogre hasn't been back at all.

Yes, I believe so, it was interesting that Chenhsi would claim Orim after Starbuck had done so. I believe he was GIVEN that claim despite it either being a real role or it was given to multiple players as a fake-claim. He said he didn't notice Starbuck had made that claim when queried rather then saying he'd copied it from her.

I'm less convinced on Chamber since he knew the back-story and probably would've made up an En-Vec/Dal role if he knew we were looking for Il-Dal/Vec roles.

First, I want to point out the connection that Shotty points out between my claim as Orim and Zwet's Cho-Manno. I almost think he helped me here without realizing it. Now, I didn't read any of the back story before, but I would like to link you all to this article. That article links my claim to Hanna (HH's flip) and to Cho-Manno (Zwet's flip). I would think that this alone would prove me, along with me catching chenhsi. Although, I can understand where I can still be seen as not close to confirmed.




Second, Everyone that has flipped town has been human or elf (typically the good side in a fantasy style story of war), but they have also been able to help in some way (just read the text of the cards here. Also, with the fact of HH flipping as a multicolored card, that pretty much semi-clears Bogre for me.

It does not fit in with the theme at all. I started googling about Squee and I came across this article article on the official Magic site, and a few things popped out at me.

"Market research had shown that Squee was the most popular member of the Weatherlight crew. But he was simply comic relief whose biggest joke seemed to be that he just wouldn’t die despite how many stupid things he did."

Also in this article, states that he accidentally killed Ertai (Boxman's role), and more or less betrayed the Weatherlight crew.

According to this article, under functional reprints Zakeri's claim is a functional reprint of Samite Healer, which is not a named role. Like I'm Orim, Samite Healer, and he's just a whatever low brow Samite Healer. And as you have said is a non-legendary, where the rest of us are legendaries.

I play a lot of mafia games that are themed in such a way that knowing a person's flavor name is practically an alignment detection in itself, usually with so few possible claims to make that it would be too easy to break the game on a day one massclaim. I sort of feel Safeclaims are a mandatory part of the game because of this, and since this game appears to be structured similarly. I felt it was weird for someone to ask why third parties got safeclaims.

And No, I don't have a safe claim.

He seems to go out of his way here to state that he doesn't have a safe claim.



Zak's talk about the scum/scum teams

@Boxman 72: I think it's more of a scumtell to try and focus on the other games, since I think it's unlikely that there would be scumteams split across parallel universes right out of the starting gate.

Definitely seems like Zak was trying to motivate others to NOT focus on other games, if I had not been following along with the other games, I would NOT have caught chenhsi using my role info and helped that town get a win.

Okay, considering the flip was of scum, I'm retracting everything I said yesterday about thinking there's only one scum team per game. This basically throws out everything I had against Chenshi and a few others yesterday.

This means there has to be two factions in each game, one of which is most likely town. It Kairyuu's right, and they're pulling scum from other games to outnumber the town, Then that would mean that there's likely only a single Mafia Scum group. Also, wouldn't that leave one scum alone to fend for himself in one game while town wins the other if they bum rushed just one game that way?

Still trying to lead us down the wrong path.

Really? I thought it still fit in with the context of the nightkills. We know there's a Tempest Mafia A And a Tempest Mafia B thanks to Chenhsi's flip and what Tar said Percy's flip was, and there was two nightkills last night that both seem scum aligned. There's also no claimed vig apparently, so one of the mafia had to kill the other (Percy) while the other's shot missed (which probably landed on Starbuck).

This is after chenhsi's flip. We have quite a few nights with only one kill.

Percy died on Night 1/
No kills on Night 2, both aimed at me?
Then we have 2 kills on Night 3! X and Papa Zito.
HH dies Night 4.

With the fact that there were 2 kills on Night 3 makes me believe that someone was laying low.

I think it was mentioned in the rules somewhere that a faction can only win if all other factions are dead/ removed from the game, i.e. town can only win if all mafias and serial killers are dead. Different mafia factions (A and B) I would assume also have to kill each other before they can win as a result of this rule. I can't find where it says this though.

Pre-edit: Ah, I found it, rule 21. Although it doesn't really do anything besides imply that the mafias have to kill each other.

Why would Zak go out of his way to mention this?

I didn't notice Chenhsi claimed the same card Starbuck did. If it weren't for the fact that he seems to have admitted to being scum, I'd be convinced Starbuck was the one fakeclaiming. This makes this a little easier for us.

first of all, I think everyone trying to make guesses by which scum is grouped by is just going to lead us in circles, and it has been. There's sufficient argument that it could be based on color or on creature type, but right now it all looks like a debate on religion for how far it's gotten us.

The fl flip supports the color theory, but doesn't really denounce the creature type theory. All in all, It hasn't changed my mind about Whoot1234's stance as scummy.

I Protected Starbuck night one because I Trusted slicey on the Meta Clear of Starbuck way back when after he said it.
Then I found out I only had one protection to give.

Why didn't I notice this before? This is completely WIFOM because Zak knows at this point that I'm a BP and that protecting me wouldn't have mattered either way. It's an easy way out.

My ability states to put a "-1/-1" counter on "This player" and that "This player" would be regenerated for that night. It also warned me that a player with 0 toughness dies.

I figured it meant I was a poisoner/Doctor, in that I could protect anyone, but they would die if I protected them too many times, but on night two when I tried to use my power, I was told that it was a one-shot.

This ability DOES NOT match with your card!

Your card that you claimed says that you prevent damage not that you deal damage!



Also, I definitely think if you were a One-shot Doc that it would say so in your role. The fact that you claim that it didn't doesn't sit well with me.
