Why should a theory be judged based more on who's suggesting it than its own merits?

I understand that answer, but it's better to go for theories from players acting more protown than others? It doesn't mean ignore holes in a theory because the theorizer seems to be a good guy, but you have to take it into consideration.

I suggested that all the scum are likely slivers. He suggested there is likely 1 sliver group and 1 volrath group (of whom metallic sliver belonged). I claimed a pro-volrath card/character so in his theory I'd be likely scum. Zak than came along and said "I think shotty is town so his theory is right.". That's a terrible argument.

Misrepresentation. Coming from someone who I don't think is trying to mess with our heads is just one of the theory's Merits, I've already explained in 828 what the theory's other merits are.

Chances are good that the two mafias this game are Slivers and Volrath's underlings. I'm willing to believe this since it doesn't make sense flavorwise to have two different groups slivers in the same game.

Why would 2 groups of 2 slivers not make sense flavourwise?

well, from my understanding of the story, the slivers only have a single hivemind. From the scumflips we have so far, while both are slivers, it's important to note one of those slivers is an infiltrator flavorwise, and is part of a different scumgroup than the the one that is just slivers. It just sort of clicks better.

I do realize that we might be screwing ourselves over by following these theories, since it's basically just "outguessing the mod", which is why I haven't switched my vote, but this just makes too much sense, really.

The timespiral mafia(one of whichs role was to switch games people are in) was comprised of slivers. This means, if we assume at least 1 of the remaining mafia members is a sliver, that at least 2 groups of slivers already had the potential to be against each other in attempting a win. In what way is that different from both starting in the same game.

Because if the person is already seen as scummy, then theory will be seen as scummy.


@Zakeri - You only refer to our game in 880, what about the other games flips?


I was just thinking about something while looking at Bogre's card. Could the game be creatures vs humans? I haven't gone back yet to re-read and see if this is true. All of our mafia/independents could be creatures, and the town could be humans.

This is somewhat PoE, which is to say I have been trying to get a good meta read on Bogre's role, and I don't think semioldguy or slicey would want to replace out of a scum role. Also, it turns out that almost all of the townie reads Slicey brought up on people I found scummy at the time have been pretty accurate. Sudai seemed vaguely scummy to me and he and chenhsi did kind of ignore eachother. And chamber's reaction to Zakeri's 'shotty or chamber' post rubbed me very much the wrong way.

I am open to being convinced of another lynch.

I am not especially concerned with the specifics of the card you claimed, as I imagine if you were a sliver you wouldn't claim it.

Vigging me had nothing to do with my response. As I said it was about the way he painted shottys argument as truthful based solely on the fact that he felt he was town. Imo anyway. I mean why mention the theory bit at all if all he was doing was responding to the question asked?
