I maintain that Lie Detector ("Sigmund Freud" in Stoof's game) is a role which has previously existed, and consequently oppose its nomination for Best New Role.

Well,
I
know that as well (I know I have personally seen a Lie Detector way back when in ScumChat, and there was also a Lie Detector in Simon Mafia which was not nominated for the 2007 Scummies), but I presume that is something for the judges to consider.

I guess I could go back through the thread and include oppositions to nominations. *shrug*

Yeah, I can't remember the game, but there was that one where someone lie detected BJ and he was outed as a liar. He was town, obv.

I wouldn't bother. The judges can read over this thread for more data (which is assuming none of them will have read it already, something I find unlikely).

Thanks for that updated list! I've been way too busy to keep up with this thread this year... But
when you get done
as you work through the pages, I will copy your list to the first post, with credit. :D

I think it depends. If it's an opposition like "nah, the scum didn't play well, the town just sucked" then it doesn't belong. In this case, I think that the nomination itself is invalid. How can a Lie Detector be the best NEW role if it is not NEW to begin with?

The award description does say "new or adaptation". Using Freud as the flavor might qualify the role even if the post restriction - "works only if unrevealed" - isn't new (which I'm not sure about.

Also, malthusis - IIRC, Lain Iwakura was nom'ed, seconded, and thirded a few pages back, so I believe the correct word is "sixty-seconded".

I don't know what the hell the "Leonidas" Award is supposed to be for, but there are nominations for it. I put it under "Goodfellas" for now until there is more clarification.

Leonidas Award, as I recall, is the current common title for the proposed "best performance in a losing cause" (aka "Cassandra Award"), though I need to check that.

Thanks. This should be updated, although there were some "joke" nominations I skipped, and a few nominations for Scummies (such as "Best Bus," "Best Use of Emoticon," and such that I did not bother to include).

I technically believe Elmo is pointing out the bizarre claim/gambit I made since my general play in that game was not that good. That claim was the only thing good I did in that game. Here is the link to my claim of
Obnoxious Drunk
(Super Saint)

http://www.mafiascum.net/forum/viewtopi ... 69#1212869

PM elmo for more details in case he didn't see this but I believe that's what he meant since my overall play in Satin doll was subpar

I'm going to nominate a competitor for one of those categories however, and I know he deserves the scummy more than I...

Nominate:
gorkat
Award:
most enjoyable game, mini
Game:
The Neighborhood
Summary:
The set-up included a GF and a miller but no cop, a note-writing mafia spy, and a nosy neighbor. The balance was perfect... skill seemed to play a part at every turn. And the game was high-tension from start to finish. I've played a few very good minis, but this one was the best by far.

Um not to toot my own horn but you dropped a second from Guardian's list:

EDIT: Also thanks for getting the list up PJ, that's a lot of time there.

I had accidentally included the Empking "QFT" as seconding the Ythill nomination for Best Individual Play (Scum) for The Neighborhood. I'm supposing "Neighborhood" (i.e. the Hood) = "Gangland" in my mind.

Updating shaft.ed. I didn't drop anything from Guardian's list because I didn't use his list (since he was missing the nomination of Assassins in the Palace II, despite the fact that his own alt account had done the nominating, so I didn't really trust his list at all).

Edit: Also, when you reference
anything
(even a nominating post that was forgotten),
please give a link
. Compiling all that took probably four hours, by the end of which time I had very little patience to bother finding links for things that were not linked to for me.
