Zindaras is taking a midnight walk on the woods. His thougs are lost far away as his mind is filled with sadness for the absence of his beloved Spectrumvoid.
Suddenly, his awareness is brought back by a strange feeling of danger.
He looks around and sees nothing.
- Is anyone there?
His question is answered by a sound of breathing. Not human breathing, more like the open-mouthed breath of a dog.
He looks in the sound direction and sees a pair of big, evil, reddish eyes staring at him.
He starts to slowly walk away from whatever is standing there, trying to convince himself it must be his imagination.
- No, this can't be happening. Not here, not now, not with ME. I'm probably on bed having a nightmare. When I look again it won't be there anymore.
He looks back again and the eyes are closer and closer to him, approaching slowly, but faster than he was walking.
He decides to walk faster.
- No. Why ME? It's not fair. I play so many games, everyone loves me. Why not with a bad player, or a spammer? This is all Dead Rikimaru's fault! I hate him! I hate him!
At this point he start to hear the footsteps of the monster. It is obviously moving faster now. He looks back again and is able to see the light of the full moon shinning from the thing's sharp, long teeth.
Now Zindaras really starts to run.
- Nooooooo. Not today! Please God, let me llive to see Spectrumvoid one more time! I promise I will never be scum again! Noooooooo.
At this point Zindaras is running as fast as he can. The thing could have easily caught him if it wanted, but there is much joy in the predator/prey game. It runs just fast enough to keep our hero in sight.
By now Zindaras is getting tired and losing speed.
- No. Why am I even trying to escape? There is no point. I will never outrun that thing. These are my last few moments and all I can do is entertain that monster.
As Zindaras' disposition to survive disappears his strengh to run disappears as well, at a certain point he can't stand anymore to walk and let his body fall to the ground. While he stares the moon the monster's running sound stops too, and he feels the it start to slowly approach.
Zindaras closes his eyes.
- Ok, I have no chance anyway. If you are going to do it, do it fast.
Goodbye, cruel world...
When Zindaras feels the hot breath close to his neck he automatically faints. Good for him, at least he didn't have to endure the pain of being eaten alive. What a lucky guy...
Wikipedia wrote:The Kübler-Ross model describes, in five discrete stages, the process by which people deal with grief and tragedy. Terminally ill patients are said to experience these stages. The model was introduced by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in her 1969 book On Death and Dying. The stages have become well known, and are called the Five Stages of Grief.
The stages are:
1. Denial : The initial stage: "It can't be happening."
2. Anger : "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or anybody perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
3. Bargaining : "Just let me live to see my son graduate."
4. Depression : "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"
5. Acceptance : "It's going to be OK."
Kübler-Ross originally applied these stages to any form of catastrophic personal loss (job, income, freedom). This also includes the death of a loved one and divorce. Kübler-Ross also claimed these steps do not necessarily come in order, nor are they all experienced by all patients, though she stated a person will always experience at least two.
[i]"Dead Rikimaru is... well, dead. When the lights came back on, he was found turned inside-out, somehow. Disgusting, really. Anyway, he was "Dead Dead Rikimaru" (Self-fulfilling Prophecy)".
