[Dead Rikimaru]

Jedah is the youngest out of the three High Nobles of Makai – the demon world, one that was always distressed about the future of his world. He believed that if it was left under the rule of Belial, the master of the Aensland family, it would grow old and begin to decay.
Jedah considered Belial to be an abomination, and actively sought out the opportunity to kill him, but was betrayed by his friend Ozumu, the gourmet eater of souls, and sent to a trap at the gates of Makai where he was consumed by the power of the gates.
One hundred years later Jedah is revived by the same power that once destroyed his body, and looks in disgust at the horrible world around him. He then decides the only way to salvation is to unite all souls - including his own - into one being: the Shintai, only then would world violence and conflict be ceased.
Using the soul of his betrayer as a cornerstone for a new dimension: Majigen, Jedah summoned the most powerful beings of Makai and outside in order to feed Shintai and make it strong enough to take over all realms of existence.
This is not a battle for your lives, this is a not a battle for your souls, this is a battle for existence as we know it. This is Darkstalkers Mafia.

II - RULES

1- VOTING

Votes must be in bold. (

It’s not necessary to unvote, unless you really don’t want your vote to be in any particular player.

2- LYNCHES

A Lynch occurs once a simple majority is reached.
At deadline the player with the most votes is lynched.
If at deadline two players have the same number of votes the lynch is decided by a duel (something like scissors/rock/paper). Duels do not apply to endgame situations.

3- DEADLINES

Basic deadline is 30 RL days after the start of a Game Day. After there are 9 or less players alive deadline is 3n, where n is the number of living players.
Don’t worry, deadlines are negotiable. If the town needs extra time, it will be given.

4- BAH POSTS

Once your death scene is posted it’s game over for you. Don’t spoil the fun for the others.
A “Go team!” post is acceptable, though.

5- COMMUNICATION

Do not discuss the game outside the thread unless you are allowed by your role pm.
If your role allows you to discuss the game remember to ONLY do it at the Night phase.

6- POST EDITION

Don’t edit or delete your previous posts. Do not use invisible text.
At the moment you decide to cheat you are already declaring yourself a loser.

7- NIGHT CHOICES

Night choices must be sent before deadline.
After deadline choices are either random or nonexistant, it depends on the mod’s mood.

8- PM QUOTING

Don’t quote any PMs by the mod.
Winning condition for town is: “You win when all threats to the demon world have been defeated, even if you are Resting In Peace. ”

9- PEACE AND LOVE.

Respect the other players.
It’s just a game, it’s not worth starting “real” fights because of it.

10- DOUBTS

Any question you have or mistake I may have made feel free to pm me.
I will try to make at least one vote count per page.

III - POLICIES

1- ACTIVITY CHECKS

Once or twice a week I will be sending activity checks to all players who haven't posted in the last 72 hours.
If you receive an AC please don't feel offended, this is my way of keeping the game alive by making sure all players are still around.
Simply opening the AC PM is enough to inform me that you are still around and playing. No need to answer the PM.

2- PRODS

Prods will be sent by request of other players, or if an AC PM is not opened several days after it has been sent.
If you receive a Prod PM you are expected to post ingame. Answering the PM is not necessary.
If a player has not opened or has opened but ignored the prod several days after it has been sent I will start looking for replacement.

3- NIGHTS

To avoid metagaming over Night replacements I may be sending activity checks to players without nightactions before I start a new Day.
Again no answer is needed, just opening your PM already shows that you are alive.

IV - INSTRUCTION MANUAL

What's Darkstalkers?

This sitehas the best, most passionate description.
Your role pm contains a link to the Wikipedia article on your character. If you need more, Google is your friend.

How accurate are the roles according to CAPCOM canon?

All characters and powers are based on the storyline, but were formatted to fit the roles of a twelve-player Mafia game. Game balance takes precedence over canonical accuracy.

What are RIP and BIH?

RIP stands for "Resting In Peace". It's the default place for dead players.
BIH stands for "Burning In Hell". The name was chosen just for being the popular opposite of "Resting In Peace". Dead players are sent there when their souls are being used for any purpose by other players.

What are ranks?

Ranks represent different levels of power among darkstalkers. Some abilities may not work against higher class characters (explained in the role pm).
Ranks in the game are B-Class (lower), A-Class and S-Class (higher). Only darkstalkers have ranks.

Can ranks change?

Some characters are able to have their ranks increased by their actions or the actions of other players. If you can increase in rank and are supposed to know how it's explained in your role pm.

Can alignements change?

Some characters may have their alignements changed by their actions or the actions of other players. Win or loss will be affected by the player's alignement on endgame.

Can win conditions change?

Some characters may have their win conditions changed by their actions or the actions of other players. Win or loss will be affected by the player's win condition on endgame.

How do duels work?

Duels work pretty much like rock/scissors/paper, so it's luck based.
I will request a certain number of choices that the duelists will send by PM.
The choices will be compared to define the winner.
The winner keeps playing and the loser is dead.
In case of a draw nobody dies.

Why must games always start with day? It seems so counter-intuitive. How are we supposed to figure out who will kill someone in the future when they haven't even killed someone yet. Besides that, the very notion of justice seems to suggest that we should not punish someone for crimes they only intend to commit. They actually have to at least attempt to commit the crime before we can punish them for it.

I will not place a random vote. I think the entire system of beginning games with a day is flawed, and has a negative influence on the game of mafia. Starting games with a day forces players to babble about nothing for pages on end until someone does something irritating enough to get lynched over. This usually has nothing whatsoever to do with them being mafia. Most day one lynches that do end up getting scum are pure luck.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much we can do about this. I'll try and keep up with the vast amounts of drivel that are sure to be generated today, but don't expect me to participate in it. If I see something worth commenting on, I'll comment on it, but beyond that, I'll keep my participation low until we actually have something to base our votes on.

Neither does truely randomized voting. Random voting based on completely irrelevant things means its actually based on something and can be a sign of something. Choosing random numbers means no info is gained from the vote.
