Also,
addendum to partial claim: I have an unusual role, one I am familiar with, but I don't recall ever seeing actually used before.
Hated is a modifier to it. So if you see me claiming Doctor or Jailkeeper or even something obscure like Motion Detector that I've played with before, lynch me. It's *possible* I saw it in a game many years ago, but definitely nothing recent.

Also, I absolutely
love
my role, and will likely use it in a future modded setup.

Lynch this with fire.
Nah. Par for the course as far as Pine's concerned.
Pine's town Sly's town man this game's shaping up to be great.

Now all we need is Toogeloo Boogeloo to get in here and we get to have a real party.
Actually, this kind of derp partial claiming is pretty weird for me. I just happen to have had weird roles in all three games we've played together (afaik).

Hold up. Before the flavor train leaves the station, my flavor is also an obstacle to getting the laundry done, and I'm Town. EP actually tells me to fuck myself in my role PM. So let's not rush to a conclusion here.

I am considering the utility of a mass flavorclaim here. I would like to invite discussion on the topic. I see pros and cons.

I agree. I joined in on Desperado for the lulz and pressure, which he's responded well to, but you can't have site meta which both demands Millers claim and blanket hates Miller claims. It encourages evil mods to create real Millers just to fuck with us. This site is already pretty imbalanced between its Towngame and Scumgame, Town doesn't need the extra ding.

How is conditional doublevoter a scum role? It makes no sense for scum. Scum can just make sure they're off mislynches and get an extra vote? Nah. Not a scum role. If you think it's a fake claim, go that route, but arguing it is a scum role will get no traction.

That's a pretty rare scum role, and he'd probably just claim doublevoter if that were the case. No need to complicate a straightforward role that is more often Town than scum.

I'm completely cool with Gerry, Sly, or Pine being lynched... can we get one of them to L-1 so I can hammer pl0x?
I've said a couple of times that I haven't read the middle few dozen pages. Not sure I intend to, at this point. Maybe if I'm bored, but I'm presently current with the game and don't really need to go back.

I agree with Creature regarding the meta issue of beetlejuicing...it has always been a lame tell, and is usually NAI.

Okay, look. You people are way overcomplicating this. The interpretation is maddeningly simple.

LYNCH ACHIEVED - Was it on Town? If yes, was Sly on it? If yes, points reset. If no, point gained. Was it on scum? If yes, point gained. If no, points reset.

Two points gets him a doublevote.

Tammy is probably a Towel. I say "probably" because I haven't played a game with her in either ever or a long enough time that I don't remember it, so I have no meta reference. Her experience level is sufficient for me to be wary of an initial TR. That said, she's probably a Towel.

I know the above is confusing and contradictory.

PEdit: Tammy likes Skyrim, this makes her lockTowel. Disregard hesitance above*.

It's really not a reach.

When someone refers to town as they (the way i read it) it catches my attention
"They" is often used in the conceptual third person.

As in, when talking to your estranged second cousin, "Hey Jeremy, when you call all your family assholes, they tend to resent it." The speaker is included in the "they."

This detour into grammar weeds has been diverting, but stupid.

Guys.

Creature wouldn't be this hard to lynch if he were Town. It would be a total no-brainer to justify lynching Town!Creature. We're not seeing any significant resistance, we're seeing interest elsewhere sans commitment. That says scum to me. I want to hunt off the Creature wagon when he flips scum.

Well, maybe 'several' is exaggerating, but there are a suspicious number of people not expressing TRs on Creature who are suddenly very interested in lynching anyone but Creature.

Desperado is Towel for his tunneling on Sly, and his Towelish backing down from it. I don't need more, but he and I are generally seeing things in much the same manner (not counting Sly). Different reads, similar approaches. He's gamesolving. You're trolling. The fake stuttering thing and leaning on the whole 'cute anime girl' motif looks extra contrived.

The Zach counterwagon smells bad. I especially don't like how eager Creature jumped on it.

This is a better one:

Quick unofficial poll: who would support a Nacho flashwagon? If we can't lynch Creature, and Sly is Town, let's do this. There's been a lot of talk about Nacho but no action.

I'll be here pretty much all the way to deadline.

PEdit: I am not interested in Gerry. It's a bad wagon, and a CW to Creature.

What.

If he's not giving complete results then someone can out and then ????? lynch him for not giving complete results.
So he tells us Town actions on the target, and conceals any scum actions, all while scum merely have to avoid his leashed watch. They could also use it to frame someone.

A bad or illogical attack on scum actually helps them, because it discredits the legitimate attacks on them.

You'll notice that, with three active wagons, the only one that is being seriously pushed is the one that is on scum, but SOMEHOW can't get enough votes to seal the deal?

Honestly. If Creature were Town, with 2.5 hours to deadline, scum would be CREAMING THEIR PANTS for the free excuse to "compromise on a deadline lynch OOPS IT WAS TOWN WHY DID YOU MAKE ME COMPROMISE"

explain it.
Well, given that what I just said is mostly an opinion-based assessment of your general activity level, that isn't an especially fair demand. I can't point to a particular post and say THIS RIGHT HERE when I'm talking about larger patterns, now can I?

I can, however, turn that right back around on you, and demand that you prove me full of shit by citing examples of you making logical deductions, identifying pertinent facts/making observations, or attempting to gamesolve. The difference is that while it is almost impossible to prove the absence of something, it is SUPER EASY to prove it exists.

Ball's in your court.

so umm no this doesn't make sense but keep pluggin away bud
How is Creature the compromise? The Creature wagon predates both the Sly wagon and the Gerry wagon, and has been the only consistent one. It's also the only one that has any real LIFE to it. The Sly wagon has been dead in the water at 5-6 for ages with nothing new or interesting, and the Gerry wagon is the "I dunno, maybe?" wagon.

Creature is the only viable wagon that has a solid foundation.

This right here is the important thing. If Creature were Town, scum would have an absolutely free shot at him right now. There wouldn't be a whisper of consequence. The fallout would be "Oh it was a deadline compromise, bad decisions were made."

Instead, he's scum and they're desperately clinging to vanity wagons and counterwagons hoping to wait out the clock.

Criteria for the above: Bolded are the people who are being inflexible about their vote, who seem to be ignoring the deadline situation and just whistling their way to deadline. People given a pass were the people who have expressed hard reads excluding the other viable wagons, people who have been moving their vote around to adapt to the situation, even if their vote is stupid, and people who have been actively and repeatedly justifying their vote. SAD, for example, appears to be the true believer on the Sly wagon, while the others are mostly ghosts parking their vote. Same for Desp on Gerry. The entire Creature wagon, not counting scum!Nacho, has been consistent and ardent.

Read my ISO for more details.

PEdit: First of all, Watcher is a very common and useful scum role. Second, this is role madness. My SRs are Nacho, drealmerz, Maria right now. I get a sneaking suspicion of Andy, but I'm electing to ignore it for now.

But this is quite true, too. If Nacho flips Town, my suspicion of him will transfer to Desperado. There was some shady shit at day's end, where the scumteam was super reluctant to bus Creature.

That said -

My role has been done before, I just haven't seen it used, or at least not in a long time. For the record, I quite like my role, and it's a doozy.

Reviewers lately are skewing towards Townsided.

I think that there are a healthy amount of scum PRs, and there is at least one negative utility Town role (Hated) to balance it. At least two, if Desperado's Miller claim is legit.

Wait, so red are scumreads? If so, bullshit on McMenno and Gerry. Gerry was a CW to Creature, and McMenno was like the first one on Creature, and stayed faithful the whole time.

Disagree. The reluctance and resistance to the completion of the Creature wagon was extensive, and only broke at the very end.

You seem to be suggesting that McMenno bussed from the start, out of the blue, and hung on stubbornly even when the Creature wagon seemed to fall apart multiple times, and when switching over to an alternate compromise wagon at deadline would have been practically free of suspicion.

I don't buy that assessment. Scum bus, but they don't do it for zero reason, they don't tend to do it quietly or stubbornly, and when it doesn't seem to be working, they look at other options.

Time for a full readslist.

Strongish TRs on SlySly, Gerry, and McMenno.

Medium-strength TRs on Desp, Zach, Fire. Maaaybe SAD.

Andrius is still a special category.

Tammy and Toog also a different special category.

SRs on Nacho and drealmerz. My SR on Maria is actually weakening a bit, though she's not out of the woods.

Who does that leave? Just Nosferatu, I think.

lol

why are you pretending like you just started playing mafia yesterday
I'm not.

Here's the thing - bussing for no reason and out of the blue just doesn't happen as often as it's talked about. A teammate is a valuable resource. Distancing occurs, but it's a big waste to eliminate a teammate. If you completely sacrifice one out of the blue, it's got to be dramatic enough to earn you a ticket to endgame. Claiming a guilty on a teammate, for example. Counterclaiming them. You don't do it quietly and stubbornly.

The other way to bus is for Towncred when things turn against your buddy. There's motion towards their lynch, so you jump on and ride the wave. Again, it's better to do this vocally, or at least obviously.

McMenno was quiet, early, and stubborn. That wasn't a bus.

In post 4686, Toogeloo wrote:Pine, Scum don't wait to the very last minute to bus a Goon if the only thing that is needed is their votes to complete the lynch. No chance in hell scum were completely off Creature's lynch when it was a 3-way between Creature, gerry, and Sly. In fact, if anything, the early departers of gerry and Sly onto Creature are your best bets for scum, as are the people who parked there and didn't stay there. If anything, the last votes on Creature in the waning hours of the day phase are all town.

I'm also completely open to the idea that the scum team might be completely incapable of leading town around by the nose, and were likely amicable to the plans set by the louder voices.

Also, if Pine is hated, I doubt scum have a 5-man team. Hell, Pine shouldn't be allowed to live simply because he brings LyLo a day earlier, and a 5-man team also closes that LyLo gap.
My Hated status specifically does not function in LyLo/MyLo

I also do not expect to make it to endgame. My PR is too juicy.
In post 4692, Ser Arthur Dayne wrote:Wait a min...

If Pine said he's not hated in lylo... isn't that unfair from a mod stand-point because it allows the town to know when it is lylo?
Not really. Town almost always knows when it's LyLo, for one, and it's not like there's a mod announcement. Either the lynch happens or it doesn't.

I have cut back on my current games so I'm not overloaded.

This game made the cut because I like you people.

Well, some of you.

Mostly just Andy. And sometimes Sly. Also Nacho when he's not scum.

Yes, I do. I have made that quite clear.

This is not a matter of me being inflexible, it is a matter of "I don't find your argument convincing, and you haven't actually varied it, just repeated it a bunch of times." If you want to convince me that McMenno or Gerry are scum, make a case on them that doesn't suck harder than my grandmother's 50s-era vacuum.

I got Desp as town.

I was curious as to your case on Nacho.
I also have Desp as Town, with the reservation that if Nacho flips Town, some of the suspicion moves to Desp. A lot of the day-end shenanigans with Creature were quirky behavior from both of them, but I was TRing Desp and SRing Nacho before it, so I stuck with my gut.

So I look at this. Bolded is dead town or MASONS.

There's got to be scum off the main wagon not doing anything unless we're thinking that THE ENTIRE SCUMTEAM bussed Creature which would be ballsy since that's 3-4 people chilling on THE wagon.
Literally everyone on your (Sly) wagon could be scum except Maria.
drealmerz is doing some low-impact crap here that's basically opposite of everything I know him for - even if he disagrees ONLY on game theory or is scumreading me despite THE WORLD saying no (Strahd) he's going to be screaming his lungs out regardless. I think he has a decent chance to be scum.
Zach is a scumread for everything I've said before.
Nos is another low-impact says a few good things and disappears.

Toog is a mason. You're town.

Fire is leaning town but I would be 0% surprised if he were scum. I've basically based this entire read on his attitude. The I DONT APOLOGIZE was basically what he said to me when we were talking about being force-replaced and I was like "yeah no I was an ass" and he was like I DONT APOLOGIZE. So I think he's likely town.
The distractability away from the Creature wagon only really makes sense if scum were mostly trying to stay off it until the end. The "Oh fine" attitude of Nacho deciding he didn't have a choice but to bus is a key point in the case against him.
In post 5477, SlySly wrote:
In post 5473, Andrius wrote:Same, re: Desp.

I know.
And then I started thinking about why Nacho busses Creature and commits suicide as scum.
That would actually be moonbeams.
Like, some things are NAI for him. Defusing the Tammy/Andrius was just a NACHO AS A PERSON move so I don't see that either way.

I'm having trouble because his heart isn't here but he's also not pretending it is.
Look how different these are...

this is what i mean by you being inflexible

nacho flipping town shouldnt shift any suspicion towards me at all,
it should be a wake up call that your interpretation of what happened is wrong

especially if you are townreading me right now
1 I saw similar things from you and Nacho.

2 Prior events suggested that you were Town and he was scum

3 Scum are unlikely to both do the same scummy things at the same time

4 This suggests that one, but not both of you are scum

5 If Nacho flips Town, that means my initial read was wrong, and it's probably you instead

6 Nacho isn't flipping Town, so why are you stressing?

7 Even if he does, you claim to be Town, so why are you stressing?

Dude, I don't coast in all of my games for the sake of one. I've been really active here in comparison.

Just shut up, Desp. The entire premise of me being scum is dependent on me hard-bussing Creature, which doesn't happen. Ever.

Randomidget and Creature were gladiated at the time, and someone (I forget who) had a claimed guilty. It is not the same.

I challenge anyone to find any game in the last three or four years where I hardbussed a scumbuddy without similar circumstances. Bussing is a HIGHLY overrated tactic.

Yeah, you keep demanding I admit that you're the correct one in our philosophical difference on this, and you keep failing to make any kind of persuasive argument.

Bussing isclever and revolutionary when people aren't expecting it. Site meta now expects it. It even over-anticipates it, to a degree. Sticking by your scumbuddies is a stronger strategy, and I think most people know it. Nacho certainly does. Early hardbussing makes no fucking sense in the present meta.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying it shouldn't.

Yeah, after the middle of D1 or so this game slowed right down to a reasonable pace. This is PINE saying that, and I've been crusading across the site for less egoposting, more conciseness, and against bloated games that are hard to keep up with. D2 has averaged less than seven pages per RL day, which isn't unreasonable for an active Large. You've been active lurking, an allegation which your prompt and informed reply supports. Honestly, that fact more than anything Desp has said makes me wonder about the validity of the Nacho wagon.

Tally ho, folks, drealmerz is the correct lynch today!
