I'm beetlejuicing because while I have this game bookmarked on my main, it takes a significant amount of willpower to log out and onto this account when I have only one game for it. Trust me, I'm reading, and I still think with that small response randomidget is the best lynch for today. But both of our heads have other priorities besides this game.

Why don't we lynch scum so that the real vig can shoot one of their scum-spects? There's an outside chance that there is no vig at all. But we can't rely on "directing" the vig shots because the scum can influence the vig to shoot townies anyway.

It's not about the shot; we lose a lynch if she shoots someone tonight (unless we have a JK who stops a kill) (but since we're directing the shot we can just use it as a second lynch anyway).
It's about the fact that there's a potential for her to be confirmed town tomorrow. And the fact that we don't actually gain anything by lynching her today as opposed to tomorrow.
As Flum says, worst-case scenario is that the scum shoot the same person Matsumi does and we lynch the vig. I was on V/LA for most of the night phase. And I wouldn't have studied midget's wagon too hard even if I wasn't because it would be a waste to do it and get killed. I thought I would have plenty of time to do it today. And almost all my posts today were made during university classes so I didn't have time to do anything deep except point out the obvious, such as, "DON'T LYNCH 12 HOURS INTO THE DAY PHASE!!!!"

Really I found studying the wagon before randomwagon got lynched to be very illuminating. It revealed that the wagon was on a townie.

Most townies want to make sure a wagon looks good before a lynch. Wagoning Matsumi looks very good right now. It looks so good I wouldn't be surprised if she's being bussed. I will give 0 fucks if Matsumi is lynched and flips town.

Shadow the Hedgehog is an action computer game for the Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube. Despite its apparent targeting at a younger audience, the game undeniably touches on issues of race, often in an unfair way. Shadow is a black character, as are the main villains of the game. While Shadow is essentially the 'hero' of the game, it is not straightforward. Players are given a choice as to whether to be good or evil.

Unlike his counterpart 'Sonic', Shadow, the main character of the game, is not an archetypal hero. He is portrayed as an 'edgier' character, having suffered amnesia and therefore having difficulties with his own sense of self. Most importantly of all, whereas Sonic is blue, Shadow's fur is that of a distinct black. Whereas Sonic would appear on the covers of his games with a big grin on his face, Shadow appears on the cover art with a definite sneer, most notably holding what appears to be a large gun. In the game itself, when Shadow first acquires his firearm, Sonic utters,

Why is this? Because Sonic is not black? Sonic Team, the creator of the game, are definitely making a point here. Firstly, Sonic is implying that it is not in his character to use guns, does this mean it is in a black persons nature to use guns? In all the many, many Sonic games, Sonic has never once used a gun, but in giving the first black character in the Sonic universe their own spin-off game, they immediately pick up a gun and don't even question the morality of its usage.

Secondly, unlike a normal Sonic game, the player of 'Shadow' is given the choice as to whether or not to play through the game as 'good' or 'evil'. Why is this? Never once while playing as Sonic have we had the chance to be evil. However, once we switch to Shadow, his black counterpart, many of the games' objectives are in fact, to do evil deeds. Is it a mere coincidence that the 'black guy' has the ability to become evil, while the 'white guy' (or in this case blue) does not?

The bad guys are rather unsubtly named 'The Black Aliens'. Within the story they have come down to Earth and are causing havoc on the world they're invading. If this is not a swipe at immigration laws then I don't know what is. At once the soldiers of Earth (all of them are white) go to war with these black aliens. If a player decides to side with these soldiers these 'black aliens' can be killed. However, to side with the aliens, you are not able to kill the soldiers, merely knock them to the ground; either that or simply destroy lifeless robots. The evidence is clear here, you are allowed to kill 'the blacks', but you aren't allowed to kill 'the whites'. Is the life of a white man really that much more significant than the life of a black man? Were the actions of the 'Black Aliens' to be performed by human they would ultimately considered as 'terrorist', therefore by this rationale every terrorist must be black.

While all the characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe have their own distinct personalities (Sonic being the 'cool' one, Knuckles being the 'brash' one, etc), Shadow on the other hand does not. He is confused and alone; he is essentially a black man in a white man's world. When the 'Black Aliens' come to his Earth, he naturally fears them.

"Get out of my sight, disgusting black creatures," is just one of the many racist remarks he himself utters, despite the fact that he is black himself. Only when the story progresses and Shadow realises that he may be of the same origin as the black aliens, does he call their wickedness into question. Is this a knock by Sega at the 'average' black man not staying true to his roots in today's white oriented culture? It seems likely.

At one point in the game you are forced to decide between siding with the 'Black Aliens' or the evil 'Dr. Robotnik'. For those not familiar with the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, Dr. Robotnik is essentially a fascist dictator with aspirations of world domination. Now, while the black aliens are doing 'evil' deeds, Dr. Robotnik has also performed, and continues to perform deeds just as evil. Let us imagine, for argument's sake, that the Black Aliens and Dr. Robotnik are as 'evil' as each other; why so then, is Dr. Robotnik's cause portrayed as the 'hero' option while the side of the 'Black Aliens' portrayed as the 'evil' option? Is it because Dr. Robotnik is white?

The first quote was pre-lynch, and the second was post-lynch. The second post is fake as fuck, considering he a) knew there was a wagon on rm, and b) apparently understood why it was there.
Then there's his vote on us, which is pretty shitty! I've been calling him scum all game, pretty much alone, and have voted him a few times. Saying that we're avoiding voting him in favour of anyone else is complete bullshit when I've already tried building a wagon on Majiffy to no avail.

My reason for Majiffy was similar. More specifically, both Reino and Majiffy tried to make the people on the midget wagon look as scummy as possible.
The midget wagon wasn't really that suspicious in my opinion. At least not to the extent Reino made it out to be. How would the town on it have known someone would quick hammer.

This is idiotic, how many people have actually given reasons for wanting reinoe lynched? It just feels like we're going down the path of least resistance now and lynching the guy who can't fight back.

I actually quite liked Fluminator's posts on day one, and looking back at his iso I'm reminded why. His reasons for voting randomidget (here) are well-established and he doesn't just let it fester on the wagon; he prods rm trying to get him to post more. I also like the warning he gives when rm gets to L-2, I think it shows that he wanted to give randomidget a chance and not just push a mislynch. Overall I'd say Fluminator's intentions here were town.

Spoiler: Thoughts on Doublade's position on the wagon

Their reason for voting rm was really weak, and doesn't actually make sense; the fact that rm's rvs vote was on Doublade is meaningless. It's also a strawman because instead of asking rm what he might've meant by "don't like what he has been posting," he ignores it and attacks the part of rm's argument where he says that Doublade has been lurking. This is also their only post of substance on day one. Overall scummy.

Spoiler: Thoughts on aphix's position on the wagon

This is aphix's vote on rm. His vote is because rm is ignoring a question of aphix's. What I dislike about this vote is that he doesn't give rm a chance to answer the question, so it looks like an excuse to jump on the building bandwagon (this vote of aphix's was within a page of the 2nd and 3rd votes on the wagon). Also, he reinforced his vote on rm later (here), but outright refused to answer me when I ask him what he found scummy about this post of rm's. Overall aphix looks like scum opportunistically pushing a mislynch.

I like his explanation for why he voted for rm (here). He also tries to get Majiffy to get a read on rm, which I don't think Alc would do if he was scum pushing a mislynch. However, he doesn't ever explain where his randomidget town read (link) comes from or where it went. I do like his body of work on day one, though, and overall I think he's town.

Spoiler: Thoughts on SXTLHGaiden's position on the wagon

First calls rm scum here but doesn't vote him until much later (four pages later, to be precise). To me this looks like town who isn't quite sure about their read. I don't think it's scum testing the waters because the rm wagon was already at L-2 at this point and there were no other votes between Gaiden's initial attack and their vote four pages later. Overall I say probably town.

I was going to do day two, but this took me way too long to write and it's past 4am already. I have tomorrow off so I'll get to it then; I want to analyze both the Majiffy and Matsumi wagons.
One thing I wanted to mention though (I was going to put this in my d2 stuff) before I forget about it: Doublade said in the twilight of day one that they found Matsumi suspicious. However, they didn't show up until after Matsumi claimed, and the first thing they said was "unvote matsumi now". What I find suspicious is that instead of being an active proponent of letting Matsumi live (like me and Flum), she took the back seat and never mentioned Matsumi again; I believe she was letting me and Flum do the heavy lifting while she sat back and laughed. Right now, Doublade is my top pick for scum, but I want to wait until I can get to reading day two before deciding whom I want to lynch.

Right now I think it's Gaiden and either caled or Alc. I'm going to be pissed if the two biggest lurkers (Gaiden and caled) turn out to be scum together but tbh it'd make sense with the way this town has been ripping itself apart all game.
I doubt caled would vote for Alc at this juncture if they're buddies as it'd pretty much guarantee Alc's lynch. Plus lolNKA.
Flum and Alc is technically possible but I kinda doubt it.
Still have to confer with Mantis but I'm leaning toward lynching Gaiden today.
