So somehow I just beat a zergz that was diamond in everything except 1vs1, and he was platinum in that. And I'm just gold.

But wait more than 30% of people play Terran.

So that would probably be technically accurate?

Personally I think Zerg is the hardest to play at around my skill level, they have the slowest anti-air and similarly slow invis detection so it's easy to cheese them, and in addition they have to know how to use queens well and manage their larva so they're both getting drones and not getting completely overrun.

At pro level i really want to say that terran's easiest and protoss+zerg are about the same given the number of different races in GSL spots and such butttttt it takes so much work to get up there as ANY race that that I don't think it matters which is easiest when it's going to take hundreds or thousands of hours of practice to get that good as any race at all.

No, this is insane. Friggen crazy GSL zergs.

And I THINK low-level diamond would be a lot lot different than higher level diamond, even with the masters league now it's basically 80th percentile to around 98th, which is a gigantic difference skill-wise.

So apparently the matchmaking system DESPISES me and Fate.

Me+Fate: 2VS2BRONZELEAGUELETSGOWINZ
Matchmaking: Lol, nope.

Match 1: vs two platinum 2vs2 players
Match 2: vs one platinum and one DIAMOND 2vs2 players
Match 3: vs a gold group of 2 players

What is this I mean really now.

Everyone enjoys micro more than macro, why do you think there are so many games like Zealot Frenzy and Star Battle and Bunker Wars where the only macro is choosing which units to get?

Personal experience+the number of people that play custom games in WC3/Starcraft but completely ignore the actual Ladder part of it.
I have absolutely no factual evidence for it whatsoever if that's what you're asking.

Got to silver league, then BEAT TWO PEOPLE WHO WERE BOTH DIAMOND IN 1VS1 IT WAS THE MOST MAGICAL THING I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED.

I KNOW.

I found another site with links to GSL vids for anyone who wants to see one they missed, throw me a PM if you want the link.

...I really should buy a season ticket sometime to support them but I wind up not watching a lot of the matches : /

Hopefully they'll keep up all the tournaments during summer when I won't have to worry about 8:30 classes I need to wake up for and get to.

So Tonights/this mornings GSL matches were pretty awesome IMO, watching both terran players do nothing except mass barracks units and get their faces stomped in because of it felt pretty amazing. Zenith has absolutely no chance of beating oGsMC though, I'm hoping for MC vs. July finals.

I was planning to get the season ticket for whatever season starts after the semester is over but last week my computer just completely stopped working with gomplayer streams, and there's pretty much no tech support for the english version of gomplayer : /. Recently I've been using the VLC media player and rearranging the SQ link to make it work, but it's a pain in the ass and I don't know if it would even work with the HQ stream.

Aaaaaaaand gom decides to fuck me over and make it so the VLC links don't work either as of last night. Seriously, why would they fix that when the people using it PRETTY OBVIOUSLY can't get their shitty player to work, or they'd be using it instead of using ridiculous workarounds to try and watch the matches.

So I've been messing around with other races since it can't demote me with the ladder about to end, and have discovered that I am terrrrrible at zerg.
Anyone play zerg and have some advice for spending minerals faster? I've been massing speedlings with my extra larva but it would probably be better to get a few extra queens and take risky expansions for the extra gas, maybe even get another hatch or two in my main/natural. Any suggestions?

So the mafias went from seriously the worst game ever all the way up to a one-man-standing town win over the course of 4 games. Would have been even MORE fun with more people but I'm pretty okay with how it went down.

Man the last FFA I played I got attacked by all three other players consecutively on Metalopolis.
I held off the first attack (from terran) and went and murdered half his base, then got attacked by zerg and barely held it off (and he left the game right afterwards), then less than a minute afterwards the final player (protoss) comes in with a 150+ supply army and decimates my main, and then I just hopped around with expansions for 10 minutes before he killed them all.
I was sad.

Yeah the only real thing that lower levels can do to mindgames is fake expand and hope that their opponent expands too or doesn't make as many units so you can cancel it and just make a bunch more units out of nowhere, and that only works if they're scouting a lot- not mining gas after building it or making a fake tech structure won't actually affect what most people do until you're up pretty high on the ladder. (im not that high up as plat for instance)

Beating Terratron and getting the first score achievement was worth it for me, it was pretty fun- There are actually 3 levels of the Lost Viking score achievement though (which I didn't know until after I got the first one) and I'm not nearly good enough at it to get those.

It took me a while but I eventually beat that on Brutal with a fairly mixed army (decent number of carriers+void rays+ dark templars, stalkers, and about 6 colossi) and tons of photon cannons, when the nydus things appear make sure you target them down first, they'll absolutely maim any photon cannon defenses with never-ending broodlings if you don't.

And my laptop is finally back up and running so STARCRAFT TONIGHT.

We almost went 5 wins out of 5 games but the last one had two zerg that kicked our ass- it's a pretty nice consolation prize thouggh.

There's definitely improvement, but also a lot of players still in bronze/silver.
And being hilariously bad and winning anyway is much more fun than being good.

The GSTL games "tonight" are awesome, one back and forth game with void ray colossi vs. infestors and a bunch of ultralisks and one void ray with 60 something kills, and the next with the same protoss making 5 nexuses at his opponents base for shits and giggles while murdering everything he had.

I made bad decisions beforehand (ground mission instead of air mission, no perdition turrets) and never beat All in on Brutal.
GOOD LUCK.

Oh wow this Boxer vs. Rain game.

It's like 45 minutes long half-map and still going.

I enjoyed watching it why would I be raging >.>

Professionals doing things that typically happen at skill levels a million notches below them is always hilarious.

Also Boxer vs. MVP finalsssss. Should be pretty good games.

I will proooobably be at MLG Raleigh considering that I'll be living in Raleigh and everything then.
Someone (Reck) should probably remind me about it a few days beforehand.

But I'll GO to the MLG and SUPPORT ESPORTZ as said on the previous page.

And also I think I saw the match you're talking about and liked the ridiculous hour long 12 minute one better so Ha.

So I just turned on the gom stream to see if any games were still going on and some of the commentators are streaming them playing starfox 64 on it instead.
Which is pretty awesome really.

Yeah I got my spectator pass today and will have a pretty decent couch in my apartment assuming it's like the one I had in the same apartment complex last year.
Reck kinda sounds like the better choice though considering he has 4 couches compared to my one.

GODAMN MLG RALEIGH DAY 1 WAS SO AWESOME.

I enjoyed every single game on the main stage. It was like Code S-Interesting games edition (none of that TvT drawn-out silliness)

Also yeah that's Reck.

I'd like to but I'm fairly sure that trying to run teamspeak and a SC2 4vs4 at the same time would result in my computer comitting suicide.

oh i kinda thought that you had to use teamspeak since it's the teamspeak tournament but it just says to please use it and that it isn't a requirement.

vent I think would work?

Get a few maruaders. Stimmed marauders can kill ultras retarded fast given how much easier they are to get.

Ghosts are also good but maruaders will make the zerg call terran op before leaving.

Considered not buying this until I actually buy+make my new computer buuuut this is one of the only games I've been looking forward to in a while so screw that. Plus taking 5 minutes to load something will PROBABLY motivate me to hurry up with choosing parts for it.

if anyone wants to play then bug me by PM or with the ingame messaging, I'll probably be just playing through the campaign for a while.

yeah finished the campaign earlier today and it was pretty meh. The later missions were pretty fun but it felt a lot easier than the WoL campaign, the primal zerg could have been done better and probably still kept to the lore of the original starcraft stuff (say they break off from the swarm after the overmind dies and evolve as individuals on Zerus, only real thing you'd have to change is getting a replacement for the ancient one) and kerrigan went from dumb lovebird to BETTER GO BE QUEEN OF THE ZERG AGAIN with pretty much no thinking it through or internal conflict.

Don't really recommend it unless you're going to play at least a little multiplayer (which will probably be worth it but I haven't bothered yet) until the price drops a bit.

So I'm actually excited about this again, a bunch of the old great korean players came back from another league to the GSL so MC and MarineKing and Soulkey are all around so far and apparently San dates all the way back to Season 1 of pre-HoTS SC2 too!

If you want to watch the full vods I got this current season so PM me =3
