With the accentuation of professional ? Sounds like a rage for me ...

EDIT : Plus this guy is one of the most respected player of all time so it's really uncalled for.

I enjoyed watching it why would I be raging >.>

Professionals doing things that typically happen at skill levels a million notches below them is always hilarious.

Also Boxer vs. MVP finalsssss. Should be pretty good games.

Nothing like skipping Code A entirely. Money was on DRG to get that slot, some were even saying Gom was conspiring to let him have it by sending Boxer (supposedly out of shape) and MVP (already Code S). Too bad MMA is too damn baller for that.

The Code A spot will probably be given to Ret, Sjow, Slush and Kiwikaki (Idra and Sheth will refuse) and Naniwa and Huk already have code A/S.

Otherwise it's still the same problem. The bracket system is very rewarding for players who are getting spanked in pools ... So retarded ><

Sooo MVP and Bomber invited to Raleigh.

MMA probably won't get an invite again, (it'll likely be 2 Code A/Code B players now). Hopefully SlayerS can send him out - he's seeded 2nd in MLG now.

MVP getting invited bumps Sheth into the pools now, since MVP was the 8th seeded player after Anaheim. coL will probably try and send DRG, try and get him more points for NCs, since right now he has to fight through the Open Bracket.

Pools looking good so far:

Group A

[P] NaNiWa
[T] SjoW
[P] Huk
[Z] Sheth
[T] Bomber^

Group B

[T] MMA
[T] SeleCT
[P] iNcontroL
[T] BoxeR
[T] MVP^

Group C

[Z] IdrA
[Z] Ret
[Z] HayprO
[P] Socke
Korean Invite #3

Group D

[Z] SLush
[P] KiWiKaKi
[Z] LosirA*
[T] TLO
Korean Invite #4

* - Guessing he probably won't come out, seeing as IM didn't send him out to Anaheim.
^ - Guessing their approximate pool placement.

If LosirA doesn't show, that would move mOoNan into group play, and put BoxeR into IdrA's group again.

P-Edit: Otolia, the system is to protect the top players who consistently come out to MLG. You need to stop looking at MLG as just 6 separate tournaments and start looking at it as a circuit, culminating in the NCs in November. MLG needs to build "stars" of their league in order to make it marketable, and they don't actually benefit long-term by all of these Koreans coming out for 1-2 events. Also, the Koreans coming out in rotations screws up the way the system is intended to work, as these players might actually be putting up respectable results OR the foreign players who make an impact might actually be making deep enough runs from the Open Bracket to actually get a chunk of rank points. The problem is several players had outstanding performances at Dallas, and then come Columbus, the league exchange program came into play, delaying the amount of time it would take for any of them to actually fall.

Also, Ret will probably refuse a Code A spot as well, he's already tried his hand at it.

I think the brackets should be more like the up/down matches, where the people who do worst in their pools are forced to play open bracket, etc. Because I just don't like the system where you can not win a match in pool play and yet still get auto-seeded into pools for the next tournament.

I mean that 4 seeded players per pool is too high. 3 should be enough and limits the pain of seeing drewbie getting spanked like a baby >< Then you can have 2 players coming directly from the Open Bracket / Loosers bracket which is far more rewarding.

There is no "right" solution. The Koreans sweeping the top spots mean that players only gain/lose 30ish points on each other usually. The pools wouldn't be
that
different if the Koreans weren't playing, but they'd be moving. Also, the system works better when there are more events, as the changes are more frequent. Assuming that Sundance gets his 100,000 subscriptions (I had made an awesome post that apparently didn't process on TL, but it boils down to - trade in some old fucking games and buy a gold subscription dammit, for ESPORTS), he's said something along the lines of 24 live events. Even if 10-12 of them are in an NA circuit, that still gives a lot more events for movement to happen and the pool system all of the sudden serves the purpose it's fully intended to.

Ret was in Korea and left. I doubt he'll take the slot.

I thought I heard any "invited" players points don't count toward NC, that they only count if they come on their own dime. And MMA can't be invited back. Can only recurring invite someone if they won the competition.

MMA is ranked second in rank points right now. Unless MLG isn't telling anyone that - but they don't have the Rank Points published anywhere.

I want to, but there's no way I can justify dropping the cash and work time just to spectate an event. If I was still with an esports news site, I'd totally be there.

Someone (Reck) should probably remind me about it a few days beforehand.

The VoDs for MLG are out!

My favourite game of MLG Anaheim starts at 1:24:25 here (MMA vs Boxer G3).
