FABLES MAFIA

based upon characters highlighted in the fables storyline MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS which I HIGHLY recommenrd checking out.

GAME, PLAY AND CHARACTER HINTS:
* This game has some complicated or non-standard roles. If you are unsure about what you are allowed to do, etc., ASK ME.
* Beware! There are built in game consequences for missed actions.
* Some of you may have abilities related to your role that need to be or are enabled by another player. Your character description may or may not reveal all of the details to you.
* Every single character either has a power/role that can help their side, or has the possibility of gaining one during the course of the game.
* Dead characters will show only affiliation (color) and abilities at time of death. (i.e. If young Billy dies before the wizard tells him the magic word that allows him to become Captain Marvel, he’ll show as Billy, Vanilla Townie, not Captain Marvel, Earth’s Mightiest Mortal, Town Super-Hero.)
* Some of you, make that MANY of you, risk severe consequences if you CC or share information unwisely. You have been warned.
* No one is invincible. No one is perfect. There is no 100% anything.

--------------------
THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS!

Yesterday, Mayor PC declared an emergency and put Fabletown and the Farm in “Lockdown”. Rumors abound and everyone is anxious to hear his official statement this morning. PC steps onto a raised platform hastily erected for the occasion and holds pieces of a wooden soldier up to the light of cruel dawn.

“Yesterday morning” he announces in a grim tone, “we discovered that Fabletown has been infiltrated by forces of the Adversary! The Adversary has apparently begun a campaign of war by assassination. We know that he has other agents in place here in Fabletown.” He pauses to dab a single, manly tear of sorrow and anger from his eye with a monogrammed handkerchief, and then empties a sack of manikin-like wooden parts on the platform.

“This wooden soldier” he continues, “was glamoured to look like Hobbes. It was discovered by... well, for obvious reasons I won’t go into that, but we were unable to capture it intact to question it. Until further notice, be alert for behavior that seems different. However well they may be magiced to look like one of us, the Adversary’s soldiers won’t be able to act like one of us for long.”

As the murmurs of fear begin to circulate among the crowd, he raises his voice and confidently states “We are working on various ways to root them out from among us. For the next few days Fabletown and The Farm are in ‘Lockdown’ and a sunset to sunrise curfew is in effect.”

PC takes a moment to look at the sea of frightened faces before him. “It’s going to be a rough few days, my friends. But we have overcome the wiles of the Adversary before, and we WILL get through this!”

For a moment, such is his charisma, the crowd believes him, and cheers... but then, remembering the grave danger they face, they begin to split up into small groups for security, and to ask each other hard questions as they try to discover who they should trust.
--------------------------------------------------------

ALL STANDARD "IM TOO LAZY TO CUT AND PASTE THEM FROM ALL THE OTHER GAMES" RULES APPLY.

You all have experience playing mafia games, so I do not feel the need to have an expressed written list of how to play this game and what not to do.

-------------------------

The town quickly decided to try to cut off the threat from the source, so they
UNANIMOUSLY
decide to lynch the person in charge of this whole thing.

and with a dash of his pen,
Grimmy The Mod - Bill Willingham - Creator and Author of Fables
- has been written out of this story. Things can only get worse from here now that the Deus Ex Machina has been removed from play.

Day 1 has begun.
with 12 alive, its 7 to lynch.
Preliminary deadline axe shall fall on January 22nd, unless something occurs to change this.

GOOD NEWS AND STRANGE NEWS

GOOD NEWS FIRST

we have a replacement for Malpascp

Ellibereth has joined the game, and the role has been sent.

I will extend the deadline to January 29th to give the game time to recover.

Strange news.

I couldnt even find this thread anywhere. I had to go to the replacements area to find the link I posted for this game. If anyone has sent me any PMs other than to request for Malpascp to be replaced, please REsend them, as technical difficulties on my side have been playing Havok with this site for me.

Thanks again to Ellibereth for replacing.

Deadline extended by yet ANOTHER week, and the this will end on February 5th, one way or another. (if a lynch is not reached, it will be a No Lynch.)

Mod note on the last Kpaca vote:

I thought about this for a bit before deciding to not count the vote.

Albert posted a couple of hours AFTER I announced the replacement, and even noted in his post about the deadline extension I wrote in MY post, so his not acknowledging the new player instead of Kpaca cannot be modified in favor of a lynch.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Albert disagrees with my decision to not count the vote and has asked to be replaced.

On a personal note, im disappointed by this as I was looking forward to some Alberantics this game, and i guess this one will be the highlight of them.

If the required amount of votes are not reached, then the day will end in a NO LYNCH.

with all the pushed of the deadline, this got lost in the shiffle.

The town gathers together in the great library of fabletown, where it appears all of their fortunes have been written in the great book of fate. They decide that
MONKEYMAN- HAKIM
must die this day, and they gather the ropes near the great tree in the fabeltown office to hang him.

But As
MINA - RED RIDING HOOD
- goes to put Hakims neck in the noose, a great burst of flame hits Monkeyman, and Mina, too close to the target at the time, also dies a fiery death.

So the day ends with TWO deaths, and the game
appears
to be cracked wide open...

So I am leaving the thread OPEN in order for everyone left in the game to vote as to whether or not they want to continue.

I apologize to the group for not thinking ahead and COMPLETELY changing the original format. while there ARE some changes that may still make this game worth playing, I will not blame anyone for wanting to abandon it now.

Please VOTE in the thread to either PLAY or LEAVE. if we have enough players left, we can continue, but if not, we will call it a day and all of you will be free to pursue other mafia opportunities while I pursue other gaming opportunities elsewhere.

Again, my apologies.

One final note in the voting process...

While there are many simliarites between the clockwork game and our own, I have modified roles in a number of ways that may still make this game worth staying for.

Also, please keep your "votes" to simply Playing or leaving, in case the others wish to stay. No reason to break the game further for them.

Then thegame continues...

but sadly, without the presense of Jazzmyn, who has decided to leave the anarchy within the boundaries of Fabletown.

so, with her regards,
Jazzmyn, Rose Red

It began with a sudden build up of clouds and a hard rain. “An unexpected confluence of warm, moist air and cold, dry air.” or so the television weatherman described it. But that couldn’t explain why the rain fell on only part of the city, or why most of it in feel on just a few square blocks. Clouds as thick as cotton that looked solid enough to walk on, swirling and rolling... flowing like rivers down to some secret sea. Some folk, those more imaginative, or perhaps more chemically stimulated ;-) than others swear they saw shapes in those clouds... shapes that man was never meant to see....

Then the winds started to blow at street level. The temperature dropped 40 degrees in 4 minutes and kept falling, until, within half an hour New York summer heat was transformed into arctic winter. The rain turned first to sleet, then transformed into falling bullets, hail shooting down from the heavens as if a thousand machine guns were targeting Fabletown. The winds gibbered and shrieked, howling and screaming like two voices trying to deafen not only one another, but the world as well, by sheer volume and consistency.

That’s when the power went out, not that it mattered. If anyone had been brave or insane enough to look up, they would have seen the night sky lit as bright as day by lightning flashing back and forth from cloud to cloud like electric swords in the hands of master swordsmen dueling in a terrible, yet beautiful display of skill and reckless abandon. The thunder and wind grew louder, until it became impossible to hear the person next to you screaming in your ear... impossible, even, to hear your own screams. A cacophony of sound as if all the fireworks in all the world were going off in the ultimate firework grand finale.

Indoors, watches advanced half an hour while outside, an eternity passed. It was no longer hail shooting from the clouds, but icicles, twelve to twenty inch daggers of ice as hard as iron and as sharp as glass, flung from the apocalyptic clouds as if they had been sent to kill every living thing on Fabletown’s streets. But no one dared to so much as poke their head out through an ice-bound door or shattered window.

The clouds and winds beat against each other, elemental titans locked in mortal combat. And then, if a tornado could scream, if a hurricane could laugh, it might have sounded like that. Through ears stuffed with fingers, heads hidden beneath blankets or pillows, even to those that cowered within closets, the sound came. First a feral cry, fading away like distant thunder... then cold laughter lingering as the winds began to die down. “It’s good to get that finally settled between us, don’t you think?” the wind seemed to mutter.

As quickly as the terror began, it passed. Ice daggers turned to hail, then snow, then a gentle rain that evaporated to mist. The clouds broke up and melted away, evaporating as the morning summer sun brought warmth and light and life and hope back to the world. Amazingly efficient, city workers managed to have power restored by dawn.

It was peaceful again. Soon nothing was left to prove anything remarkable had happened in the darkness except the memories, and the broken windows, and a streetlight leaning at an impossible angle with its spotlight hovering over the frail looking body of an old woman who at first glance seemed to be sleeping peacefully. A closer examination revealed she was frozen solid.

Fabletown gathers together in the morning, look for support and comfort, grateful that there is a day to make plans in and for; grateful that, no matter how dark the night, there is always supposed to be a dawn; grateful that they aren’t the one lying there, flash-frozen. The residents of Fabletown meet to discuss what action they need to take today now that
MordyS - Frau Totenkinder
is no longer around to offer them her support.

But things have gotten even stranger. As the residents of Fabletown ponder their fates, they notice even more things. First, for some reason, the sun is clearly visibile in the mundy sky, but the section of the city where Fabletown lies remains unlit. There are no visible cloud remaining in the sky, yet the skies above remain gray. Heading back indoors, the town gathers in the office to see that last nights events affected them more than they knew. Scattered along the floor lie peices of
Gerhard Krausse - The Magic Mirror
, shattered beyond repair, yet its frame remains unmarked, but ice cold to the touch.

Suddenly, the voice of the Hanging Knight echoes throughout the halls of the Fabletown office, putting a chill into each member of the town.

"The Spirits have been awakened! Beware Their Power!"

Everyone is at a loss as to what to do next, and try to gather their bearings to prepare for the scariest day to come. Each member walks nervously looking over their shoulder, and occasionally they swear they see the faces of those who have passed recently. What will the day hold for our dear fables?

Lets find out.

Day 2 has begun

with 7 left alive, it will take 4 votes for a lynch.
Deadline ends 2 weeks from now.

The town gathers in the near drakness to decide who was responsible for the deaths last night. They look towards Sociopath, and they notice something strange. What originally looked like a gleam in the eye of
Vulco the Crow
, was actually a tiny shard of
The Magic Mirror
. They decide this must make him responsible for the death of their beloved bardic mantlepeice, and as such, they gather the ropes and hang him from the next branch of the tree in the Fabletown Office. Vulco tries to wiggle free from his noose, but to no avail. Suddenly, the rope snaps as his neck has grown from the size of a crow to the size of a weathered old woocarver. With the gleam in his eye being fanned by the flames of Hatred,
SOCIOPATH- (SON OF GRIMMY) - GEPETTO
, prepares to unleash his wrath on the resident, until he realizes they had a second noose already prepared.

So with the death of The enemy, the town prepares to try to rest...

but for some reason...the clouds have not dispersed, and the echoes of the dead have only grown louder...

how will this affect the resident of fabletown tonight?

we will have to wait and see.

Grimmy

The day begins with a howl of Despair.

Sanhora - Beauty
was found butchered last night. The town can sense an overwhelming rage stemming from one of them, but this person is apparetnly simmering just enough to not get noticed...for now.

it also appears that the spirits that haunted the town last night have been abated, and have passed on to their next realm of existance.

But for five of you, your existance is still in danger.

As such, it will only take 3 votes to send the next player to their death

Despite the night lasting eight days...

Noone was able to get any sleep. Thye were all too busy watching one another so nothing much happened, except that Starbucks made a shittaki load of cash this night.

The Final Day begins

With Four alive, its gonna be 3 to lynch.

Good luck and my apologies for the delays.

Grimmy
also apologizes for an overly insane game which became more complicated than it looked.

Note: if the votes do NOT lead to a lynch for ANY reason by deadline, it will result in a no lynch.

Deadline will be in less than 10 days. This day will end next friday at 2pm EST. (March 19th, 2010)
(if requested by the majority, an additional week will be added to the deadline)

Grimmy: Is it definitely the final day, or was that a mistake?
Overlooked this the first time.

with the amount of players, its most likely that this will be the final day, but anything can and usually does happen when I run a game, so nothing is set in stone. If there are still enough people left alive to keep the game running for another "day" period, look forward to seeing the title
The final FINAL day!

The crowd bickers throughout the day, most ofthem pointing to whom they wish to see dead that day. Finally, Ellibereth decides that enough is enough and is about to...

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

the five o'clock bell rings. everyone takes off thier hard hats and calls it a day.

and because
1) it amuses me to do so and
2) i couldnt find the clip i wanted the first time, I post this in its stead

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGlBIod-cPg

The final (most probably nearly definitely) night begins.

PM me with questions and night actions asap.

(the sooner we can put all this behind us the better)

AS A TESTAMENT TO THE ENDURING WILLS OF ALL FOUR PLAYERS LEFT ALIVE, NOONE DIED LAST NIGHT, AND THE BATTLE OF WILLS CONTINUES YET ANOTHER DAY...

While I applaud all of your efforts to continue this game, I still apologize for everything that has gone to **** during this experience.

As a funny note of Mod Stupidity, I sent RAYFROST a note about submitting a night action, and when my work filter blocked his pm reply, I asked him to re-submit it another way. I finally went to a public library to be reminded that he was replaced.

Moral of this story - Im an idiot and im sharing cause i thought it may amuse you.

Moron of this story - Moi

Long Story short- The new day arises and its still 3 to lynch

Short Story Long- Anything by Dickens*

The day has begun...again.

oh my grimmness...

in the words of The UFC's Mike Goldberg

AND ITS ALL OVER!!!

The group does not want a repeat of yesterday, so they decide to see just how BLUE they can make our dear little Danakillsu.

Not even the Witching Cloak dana was wearing could prevent the drowning methods perfected in Salem. but as Iecerint holds
Danakillsu - Little Boy Blue
- down in the water, Ellibereth notices that Blue's last breath got frozen in place in the now chilled waters of the fountains.
Following the stream of Ice,
Ellibereth- Clara
tries in vain to torch
Iecerint - Lumi
, but is stabbed from behind by
DrippingGoofBall - Rodney
.

Somewhere, they can hear the spirit of Gepetto laughing as Lumi and Rodney signal the invasion of Fabletown. With all of its major players eliminated, the town falls quickly to the forces of the Emperor, with the rest of the Mudy world to soon follow...

Congrats to Iecerint and DGB for winning the clusterf*ck that was my Fables game.

My thanks to everyone who played, and my apologies for those who were dismayed by the partial break in the game.

Now I wil sift through all the hate mail I will receive over the next few days. I need some food first though.

Note: If you look at the website that had the original version of the game, we could use an influx of new blood, so I would love to see any and all of you there for some more offsite mafia games.
