Fundamental:

• This is a game. Have fun.

General Gameplay and Etiquette:

• You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
  
• There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.
  
• If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline. If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline your night actions will be randomized. Please note that no action is a random possibility.
  
• Any player with a Night action may instead submit a “No Action” PM to let the me know that you do not want to perform your expected action that Night phase.
  
• After all players have confirmed, there will be a 24-hour period for any group(s) with the ability to night talk to confer. There will no night actions allowed during this period.

What's the reasoning behind the order of the list of players? They're not alphabetic, nor sorted by chronological order of sign-ups or confirmations.

When the thread was first opened, I'm fairly sure the list was alphabetical, but there were two names missing. Checking back after about 30 minutes, the two missing names were added but the list was shuffled when confirmations came in.

Yeah. It was a mod error and a pretty bad one. I left off the names because they were on a separate list. The reason that they were on a separate list is probably pretty self-evident, I think. I panicked a bit and tried to obfuscate the player list to confused Hoopla, but the mistake was already made. In retrospect I probably should have replaced Hoopla but it was possible that someone else saw it, so I wasn't sure if that would solve anything.

So right now I'm feeling that this game is compromised right out of the gate and I'm very sorry about that. However since you've all already signed up for a game and set aside time to play it, it seems like a waste to close this thread. If everyone is willing I can re-send out some new role PMs to everyone and essentially re-start the game from scratch. Whether or not I'm just re-distributing the old setup or using a new setup will not be made public.

So if anyone wants to opt out, I understand. Just let me know either in thread or by PM. I'm going to leave this thread unlocked and I should have new role PMs out by the end of the day (EST).

As the sun slowly sets, the majority of the town is strongly fixated on Peabody as their choice for lynch.

Feeling safe after successfully uncovering and lynching a filthy rotten no-good Communist that was hidden amongst them the town went to sleep and rested peacefully. As this humble narrator got ready to unfurl the flag and hoist it upon the flagpole, he found that those meddling Heathen Commies had painted a hammer & sickle over the stars and bars. Gah! Their evil deeds are escalating!

Oh, and another murder has been reported. Citizen mathcam, friend to all, was viciously murdered during the night.

Well, the first clue was Lance Corporal Danny DiPietro hoisting an unmolested American flag in it's proper place. He pulled the lit stogy from his mouth and tapped some ashes from the end.

"I've solved your little problem" he said.

The remaining living members of the town excitedly rushed up to him to learn more. Ignoring the corpse of Dr. Charter lying murdered in the street.

"Tell us, Mr. DiPietro, are we safe?"

"Yeah, I killed the last commie. This town is safe, but I'm moving on to the next town... A vig's work is never done."

Notes from Mod:

First off, I think that the scum team did an excellent job. Up until Day 3, CyberBob and Hoopla were far removed from just about everyone's main scum list and they looked like they were about to cruise to an easy victory.

Their first roadblock was the influx of new players. The replacement of CoCo, Vaya, & le Chat basically changed the entire landscape of the game in one fell swoop and what were once lynchable townies were replaced by really good pro-town players. It's kinda surprising to note that they were the 3 surviving pro-town roles left standing.

As some of you may have suspected, the new setup was thrown together quickly after I realized I screwed up. Oman helped me by suggesting that I tweak an existing open setup. I started with Weak M.D. setup as a base and beefed it up.

The scum team was strong and had potential to make 2 night-kills. But they grew considerably weaker whenever a member was picked off. Peabody may have just been a Goon, but after he was lynched, it forced the remaining two mafia members to give up one of their extra abilities to make the kill. Since the roleblocking abilities was more immediately helpful, the anti-doctor ability never got used.

I agree with CyberBob's comment in the Green Room where he thought he & Hoopla over-fakeclaimed. A townie claim might have made the difference. Also, I'm surprised that they didn't go along with the no-lynch idea. They could have potentially gotten 2 kills at night to win the game (though DDD's vigging of Hoopla or CyberBob looked to be a given). Still, could have had another day with a 3 person endgame.

In retrospect, I'll probably remove the "notification about being blocked" from future setups. For some reason it made Debonair Danny DiPietro's roleclaim legitimate, which was a bit weird since there wasn't any corroboration from any other townie. At the time I included it, I figured it would create town confusion over how a doc's protection failed without being blocked.

The Coward role was more of a commuter than a hider. I regret the confusion. I probably should have listed the role mechanics upon death, but I made a decision early on, then stuck with it.

I hate to say it, but I probably would have voted Raskol at the time, too. More so when he was teasing the self-hammer.

I think you knew you'd get lynched for the mind change SerialClergyman. But the game turned out better for your lynch. It was an incredibly good self-sacrificing pro-town play.

I never learned who it was. Good riddance, I guess.

I was a little sad that le Chat disappeared. He was a little green to the conventions of this site, but I think he had potential to be a really good player.
