Uh... what?Substrike22 wrote:A pure strategy play is to put a player, during RVS, at L-2?
Also, I have no idea what reaction hunting is...
What I was trying to do, was that I saw that 2 people were voting for the same person. If we killed the person who they were voting for and he/she was a citizen, it is highly likely that the 2 people are mafia. Also, if the person we voted for was mafia, then good! See what I'm doing?
And could someone tell me what reaction hunting is? I'll take a guess... Is it posting a really short post and then watching how others react? (I think....)-

Terminology's sort of confusing, but I can assume what they mean.
L-2 means 2 votes on him/her? Or 2 votes left to make a majority?
Hammering means mafia rapidfire vote on one person?
And is the deadline final? Or since 7 people are playing, once someone gets 4 votes.-

Thanks. And when CML says someone isn't voting, is that person not allowed to vote?-

Does not-voting mean they voted no-kill?-

The reason I asked was that in the list of People, who they were voting for, and such, there were only 7 people, with 6 on the list of voting, and 1 on the list of not-voting. Then I wondered why the other two people weren't there.-

Is this how long/how in depth a normal game of mafia goes? Wow, loving this. Except for the part that I'm sort of confused XD Oh well, that will pass. I hope-

Haha, I laughed at your "unless it's a brilliant 'I'm a newb" strategy" comment. That would be exactly the thing I would love to be able to execute... But XD I can't.
Ps. My computer doesn't seem to like it when I post a lot. I'll be posting a few small ones back to back. Sorry about that.-

@ Equinox. By confused, I mean how people deduct so much out of so little. I sort of get it, but then again, for me to completely get it, I should be able to make those deductions (or at least some of them) by myself. And occasionally the abbreviations. Which I can check on the other website thingy.
@ Banana Stickers. Like I said, I'm sort of confused as to what all of you are deducting. I'm sort of waiting for something really important, or something that I can REALLY understand. Something I can relate to. Sort of like you, I'm not quite sure what to do yet. No-one seems quite suspicious. So I unvote.-

Not that I don't have an opinion, I just don't have a large enough opinion. I don't really quite understand what all of you are saying and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. So bear with me-

HUFF
Finally, sifted through all that text. Here's where I stand.
I have townie/scum opinions on 4 people and slight suspicions on the others.
Bananastickers: You asked me for my opinion. This in my opinion wouldn't be the action of a mafia member, because you don't want new information. However, this could be a disguise, because as most of you know, I'm pretty much a newb, and asking my opinion would mean almost nothing. So for now, I think Bananastickers is townie.
(again long posts not working)-

Substrike: You also asked for my opinion (albeit sort of pushingly). Like Bananastickers, I think you are townie as well. I am a little bit more suspicious of you because you are actively voting and Bananastickers is not, but that's just a hunch based on a whole load of nothing.
My next opinions of people could be totally wrong: I just want people to know that I am trying to do something here that explains where I stand.-

skn: She's posted a long list of her opinions on other people. This, I find, is more scummy than pro-town in my opinion. Giving ways to suspect others would get attention off of yourself. Like I said though, this could go the other way, meaning that she's townie, and trying to help, but my feeling with her other posts included make me think she's scummy.
Pizzaplate: Quite active, contributes to discussion. he's made also a long list of opinions, but he's also made quite a few posts one why he's suspicious of certain people. So he seems less scummy than skn, but still scum. I think.-

Others: I'm pretty much neutral with others partially because I can't find anything, and partially because I haven't gotten around to thoroughly analyzing their posts. I just keep my eye out for Equinox because he's the most experienced here. And MiTC seems slightly scummy, because in my past experience, mafia try to defend their 'innocence' a lot harder than townies do.
Hope that clears some misconception up with me. And still not voting until I can get some good information or find a good piece of evidence. (or read one)-

I thought I said this, but my computer doesn't let me post a whole lot of text at once. It has like a 5 line limit or something :l. So that's why I posted several. It's one whole post just cut up. And the posting suspicions on certain people make you less scummy, not more scummy. I just found the list of all people and whether or not they're scummy in your opinion made you more scummy.-

Sorry if I was a bit confusing in my post. What I meant was if you posted a lot of information on one person, it seems to me that you are more scummy than someone who gives a wide overview of the playing field. I think.
And with skn27, honestly, I think you are innocent. As of now. Sort of like you, I didn't realize that the whole game (heck, even the first day phase) was going to go into this much detail. Wow. Especially because this is a newbie game, I think you are a townie just trying to defend yourself and I think you are surprised (just like me, sort of) that people are analyzing your every movements and thoroughly going over everything you say.
(by the way, this long post is because I'm on a different computer. I'll try to do this for all my posts, but it's not guaranteed)-

Mm. I guess I'm too open to things. Even in debates, I find it hard to take a side. But really, that sentence I said (next could be totally wrong) was really an afterthought. All of what I said in my post makes up my true feelings, it's just that I always have that sinking doubt, or second thoughts. But they are still insignificant compared to what I actually said. I just wanted to be completely open to other thoughts. Maybe I shouldn't be so open anymore.
P.S. Waffling, and pre-empting. Huh?
pre-empting = saying that they're wrong before saying them?
waffling = beating around the bush?
@ skn Your welcome.-

Definitely suspicious of MiTC. Especially that he's not trying to defend his lack of activity. I want to see how he responds when he finally posts again.-

skn, that's exactly what I'm thinking. He HAS logged on on Monday. So I really want to see what's going on. But I think it'll be easier to judge his scumminess on his reaction when he finally posts. Or what he posts.-

Oh don't worry I haven't vanished, I've just been a little too busy to really pick at everything, so I haven't been able to formulate any new opinions. My top two suspects would be....
I don't know actually. Like some of you had said, skn's behavior could be both classified as newbie acts or scummy acts. Personally though, she's done almost what I would have done. Except I've been a little too timid to do that XD.
So I trust skn, and think she's a townie.
Other than that, my opinion (as of now) has nothing else to say.-

Welcome drmyshottyizsik. Good luck catching up on all this... info! D: Especially if you're a newbie.
Not too much time right now, will digest all this new info and post again later today.
And once again, welcome drmyshottyizsik:) And what should we call you in short form? Is drmy ok?
After Equinox's post:
I have something to ask you about that post, but I'll ask you later because it might ruin what you are trying to do.-

skn27 I agree. It's quite easy to feel sympathetic to people in the same situation as you. Which means I think skn27 is innocent. She has done voting just like I would have, but like I said I was too timid. Which won't happen anymore.
About MiTC and shotty, I was trying to read shotty and give him a fresh card, but I finally realized (that I'm really stupid? ) that shotty would have the same role as MiTC so if MiTC was suspicious, shotty should be as well. So since the deadline's coming up, I vote shotty.
Vote: Shotty (or whoever is replacing him/her)-

@ Equinox I gave shotty a fresh card because I was being stupid I had mistakenly thought that shotty would be a completely new player. Then I realized that he was the same role as MiTC.
And yes, I figure that since I am townie, that people thinking how I am thinking are also townie.
... Ragnarokio and boberz bandwagoning seems strangely TOO suspicious to BE scummy. But still, bandwagoning is always a suspicious act. Like I said on one of the first few pages, bandwagoning is a good idea of scummy acts. While back then it was RVS (which I had no idea existed ) now, it's closer to the deadline. And Ragnarokio is also defending boberz. So... I'm not changing my vote yet.-

Whoops sorry guys. I was just sort of busy, so I figured that if the heat's off me, I could just sort of concentrate on other things in life for a bit. Not completely ignore this though, it's just that I've gotten two jobs now so I just kept up with this, but not enough to formulate a good opinion. Anyways, I'm not changing my vote. I'm going to stand by my views. I find bandwagoning suspicious. (I know it isn't always scummy, but in my eyes it is)
Like everyone else is saying, we need MORE data than just ways of people talking, because newbish talk and scummy talk is so similar. And this is a Newbie game. So I'm not changing my vote.-

PHEW man my mind is overloaded. Warning you, I will have almost 8 or so posts in a row (:l) because my stupid computer doesn't have the cpu power to post large walls of text.... But I'm getting a new laptop in a month, this game (will it?) might take as long as that so yea.
Anyways, also, my mind started to become more tired and wander more as I got to the last few people. I'm quite busy now, but tried my best to analyze things. Things just got a little fuzzier near the end.-

Starting with Banana Stickers. Your second post stated that you were glad that things were moving along. However, someone did point out that this seemed townie already. (skn, I think?) But you replied to that by saying that it was just an afterthought and either town or mafia could have said so. By saying this, you made me think that you were townie, because if you were scum, you would want people to think what skn (or whoever the accuser was) was thinking.-

In later posts, you do things such as wanting to know opinions (which scum wouldn't like because people's opinions could include accusations to one's self) and giving tips to others, which you could have just left the experienced players to do. By your post 8, you analyze thoroughly some miniscule data, which seems to me as what a townie would do: why would scum analyze things that normal people might and could leave out?-

Lastly, your last post attacks boberz. You are not afraid in this action, which means you are not afraid of what people might deduce from your attack. Like people have said, not being afraid of what people think of you is common townie behavior. Overall, Banana Stickers is off my radar, and I think you are townie. One done, many more left.-

Next I viewed boberz in iso. (iso = isolation, correct?) One thing that grabbed my attention that seemingly passed by everyone else's radar was the fact that he read himself as scum while going over everything. It wasn't so suspicious until boberz analyzed other things quite well. If he's such a good analyzer... Quite suspicious, indeed.-

And also, later, boberz says that this game is hard to read, and that that's not good. Suspicious in my mind, but I don't have the strategy or logic to back it up. What I see is that if he's townie, he's saying so because he's having a hard time finding scum. But what I think is that he IS scum (see before post) and that he finds it hard to read because he needs to find a suspect other than himself, his prime suspect. (sort of)-

Next, boberz states that bandwagons can often be pro-town. I'm still not too clear about this one. Genuinely. Bandwagons are where one person votes a certain person (let's call him A) and then several others vote A as well. However, is it only a bandwagon if the others don't provide sufficient reasoning? Or is it bandwagoning as long as they are voting the same person? And is the only good thing about bandwagoning for the town that it causes discussion? Because couldn't the mafia take advantage of bandwagons and promote discussion towards the supposed guilitness of the bandwagonee?-

And whoops, this will probably go over 8 posts. I'm really sorry guys, it's the best I can do
Boberz continues to push that bandwagons are good and pushes the bandwagon of Memnon. He states that we MUST vote him. (sort of) Like others have said, he originally didn't quite support his vote, but he eventually did so, perhaps not quite sufficiently. Overall, boberz throws up a red flag for me in general, so he keeps my vote.-

Actually I misread what I had wrote down. Scratch that, I don't vote for boberz.
Unvote(first time using the actual code thingy! )
This is because I think MiTC was innocent. He had several good arguments, and he didn't seem like he was panicking in his last few posts. I genuinely think his abscense is unrelated to flaking. (on that note, what is flaking? Is it just avoiding questions?)-

Ugh slowing down here, quite tired, busy schedule because of school starting and getting two jobs. D:
Equinox: You are SO HARD TO READ especially because I'm a newb... You explain lots of things and keep discussion going, but it's impossible to tell whether this is because you are town or just because you are the Experienced Player... As of now, I'm leaning towards the town.
Memnon: You like activity, and you encourage people to post their suspicions (see your 9th post.) You also like when skn takes a stand. (your post 22) Even though I wasn't quite able to go over your defence from the bandwagon thoroughly (I promise to do this tomorrow) you seem townie to me.-

Pizzaplate: You have VERY wide views. You do both overviews (sort of like what I'm doing now, just in less detail) and one person attacks. While doing so, you never pre-empt yourself. (which I should follow in doing... I'm not pre-empting... am I?) <- realized that bracket sentence was quite ironic. Anyways, pizzaplate, you think QUITE like I do. Very similarly. So pizzaplate to me is innocent.-

Lastly (for now, sorry I didn't get to go over everyone) is skn. Even though I will go over you in more detail tomorrow, for now, I'm beginning to doubt my thoughts. I found that you took similar actions to what I would have done, but what was scary was when I put myself into mafia shoes. (which I had never done until now.. stupid me) I found myself almost doing identical things to you, whereas when I was thinking townie, I just had similar thoughts. This makes me quite suspicious, but not enough to vote you. I still sympathize with the newb aspect, but nonetheless, you and I are still players in a game.-
