Basic Rules:

1.) Votes must be bolded and at the start of a line. If we don’t see it, we wont count it.

7.) Do not talk about this game outside the thread unless your role allows you to.

8.) When you die, you are dead. Stay that way.

9.) Do not edit posts. Do not use invisible text. Do not use small text.

10.) Do not quote any communication from the mod (that includes PMs) in the game thread.

11.) If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, please let me know. See rule 12.

12.) If you do not post for a full deadline game day you will be modkilled. Further, you will be blacklisted from any future games using the BaM ruleset. Keep in mind that there are no replacements in a BaM ruleset game.

13.) If you notice mistakes aside from the vote count, PM me. Bold notification about vote count issues in the thread.

14.) Play to win.

15.) Play with the spirit of the game in mind.

15.a.) This means ASK before you do something you think I might question. Questions are good. Modkills are bad. See rule 12.

16.) Have fun. Remember that everyone playing are actually real people and treat them as such.

A.) Retrieve (N) - Select a player who has been jettisoned. They will become part of your ship. This requires 0 energy.
Unless noted, you may have one player on your vessel.


If two or more players attempt to retrieve random.org will be used to decide who successfully retrieves.

Jettisoned:


If, somehow, you end up in space without a ship you have one cycle to have someone retrieve you or you will run out of oxygen and die.

Example: SpyreX ends up in space at the start of Day 2. If not picked up by the start of Day 3 at daybreak he will die.

An Interview of Admiral Zelnick: Zeta Sextantis


I’ll admit that, once I got the go ahead, I was actually scared to do this interview. I mean I’m good, real good, but can anyone do this man – perhaps the most famous man to ever live – actual justice?

There was nothing to do for it but to try. When I entered his home I was impressed; it was clean without being pompous, beautiful without being ostentatious and functional without being lifeless. Over his mantle there were pictures of his family and, of course, Zelnick himself in front of the infamous Flagship – the Precursor vessel that shaped so much of all our lives.

Then, I saw him. He had aged exceptionally well – there was only a little pepper left in his well trimmed beard but his eyes still sparkled the same as they did in the picture. He had a warm and friendly smile and his voice carried the same tone of command that it did during the war when he finally gave his greeting.

We shared pleasantries before I got down to business – the war. Not simply the war but more specifically his account of the events around the expedition to Zeta Sextantis - still one of the few remaining mysteries of those times. For just a moment I could feel him going back in time to give me this great account:

“Zeta Sextantis…. yes, I guess the time has finally come for a full explanation of what happened there.” He shook his head, “I was pushing coreward with the majority of the fleet from Utwig space when I got a message from Sector Nine saying they had found a Precursor signal in the vicinity of Zeta Sextantis. So, I told SN to call down to whomever we had in the area and tell them to investigate – there was no way we could let a Precursor artifact fall into Ur-Quan hands.”

“As I found out later, the southern fleet had all but been annihilated. So, SN’s call went out to a ragtag group – civilians mostly, a few salvage teams and one or two survivors. Definitely not who I would have wanted going that way – but, well, war is hell afterall.”

He paused for a moment before continuing. “Now, we know that its obvious we weren’t the only ones to hear that signal. There were multiple blips in hyperspace around there – a full Hierarchy Battle Squadron was poised at the gates when they approached. The chances of survival were slim.”

“But, they pushed on through with major casualties. The last message we got was that there was a huge amount of interference being caused by Zeta Sextantis I, that scanners were down, that hyperspace jumping wasn’t working and that they saw multiple Hierarchy signals entering truespace.”

“Then, all hell broke loose….”

It looks like one of the two signups for my game has 1 total post. Ever.

I don't trust that and as its still confirmations I would be willing to replace (as it changes anything). If any of you know someone to take a spot please let me know.

Q&A:

1.) Players not in a vessel at daybreak will be announced in thread.
2.) Modkills for reasons OTHER than lurking follow the "harm the faction" idea. Modkills for lurking will happen at the time of lynch. A "full deadline game-day" is just saying that if you chuckleheads powerlynch everyone who didn't post that day wont be killed - if a day goes the full week without a post then they will get killed (at my discretion - if I know of a V/LA, etc then don't count on it).
Everyone has posted today, so there could be no modkills day 1. Really, there better not ever be modkills.

Clarifications:


What happens to a ship when a player is lynched?

An unmanned ship is destroyed.

What happens to other players on the ship when the pilot is lynched?

Another player may become pilot.


What happens to the ship if a passenger is lynched?

Nothing.


When you rescue a jettisoned player, do you learn any information about that player?

No.

Does the rescued player learn any information about you or your ship?

No.

Q&A, Mark II


The idea behind the modkilling for lurking is to help the integrity (and fun) of the game - not to help ANY faction achieve ANY specific goals. The modkill isn't designed to be a tool.

The idea of missing a full game day without notification is simple: I do not think that one whole post in a week is THAT much of a commitment.

That said, you will see a change in my when he will be modkilled at lynch - this will happen at some point on Friday when I post. Now, as was asked, if he shows up and posts even A letter then he will not be modkilled.

It appears as though that rule in the BaM ruleset will be modified after this game to make the spirit and the letter of the law mesh better. I apologize for any issues it cases, but don't assume any lynch will result in a modkill until you've been told specifically by me.

General Thoughts:

This one was a lot of fun to setup and watch, but good lord its a lot more of a headache setting up for each individual role versus having vanillas (which, as you now see, there were none of).

I was absolutely floored at how much flavor conjecture there was considering that running a setup based on SC would require some creative license. ;)

Porkens not claiming Chenjesu when Keelie was up surprised me. It ended up working out about as well as it could - I'd have a hard time seeing Porkens not lynched if he had to race claim.

As you'll notice, the town had three different ways to investigate and two of them were heavily messed with by the setup - with guilties. Innocents were always legit. Sigma, of course, was the most powerful but had the worst drawback - he had to be on the ship.

Kmd did a damn good job considering he was crippled out of the gate with Keelie dead. That shot was masterful and if you had mislynched that last time it should have been game - Kmd would have just had to target Zito's ship if not swapped and if swapped would have killed zito. Not sending in an action n1 ended up being a godsend (I'd love to know if was intentional).

I really need some more modding experience before I revisit this complicated of a setup. I think, after the PM's, I need to simply revise and post EVERY question I'm asked so there is no room for issues. Further my hiccups with votecounts and the inability to know what day it is caused more issues. I apologize for that, wholeheartedly.

I'll probably have more later. Of COURSE you guys would do this the day I was out all day. :P

Ohh yea have a ball with the QT's. Zito makes for excellent QT's. ;) Plum too.

(My secret goal is a trilogy of these games: one more mini and then a TRULY EPIC large that, of course, anyone who has played in either mini gets super access to if they'd like)

The Chenjesu and Mrnhrmrm were partially a strategic maneuver. One was town, the other a scum fakeclaim that mirrored the abilities of the other. Chenjesu and Mrnhrmrm are also tied together in the minds of most SC fans.

So, one claims, the other backs it up. THEN things get interesting when lo and behold one is scum. :P

Of course, Porkens opted to hax that.

I mean, we're talking about canon but Zito you're on a different precursor vessel. Going to Zeta Sextantis when Zelnick is in the flavor. You've gotta know there's SOME liberties. ;)

And like Vi said, ZEX was raw liquid awesome that had the misfortune of being indistinguishable from scum. I'll admit that his claim was one of my favorite moments of the whole game though. ;)
