Karaoke.

A fun little past-time to have with your friends, right? Usually.

I guess that's all dependent on the company you're hosting though. See, as long as everyone's just singing for fun, and

maybe

enjoying a little bit of friendly competition things can remain kosher and light-hearted.

Issues arise when a couple of the other singers begin to get a little

jealous

of the talent and singing abilities of the top singer or two of the bunch. But that wouldn't actually entice anyone to want to kill another person, would it? Not someone you consider to be a friend, right?
I sure hope not.

Voting, Lynching, and Death

Once the number of votes reaches the number required for a lynch to occur, that decision is final. Any subsequent unvotes will not be counted. You (everyone except the person who has been lynched) may feel free to converse during this period (called Twilight) until the thread is locked.
    
  • Important: If you get killed or are lynched, you are dead. You may not post anything afterwards. Not even a “Bah!” post. Srsly. Save it for post-game discussion.
    
  • At deadline, no majority = no lynch. Chyeah.
    If town and scum gets into a deadlock, the pressure is on the town to lynch someone or it will autolose
    . I define deadlock as 3 total day-night cycles with no lynches and no night kills occurring.

Activity

• • I expect everyone to post regularly. If I see that a player has not posted for longer than a 72 hour time period and the player has not notified me about this, I will prod said player. If the person fails to pick up his her/prod within 48 hours of the prod, that player will be replaced. If you are prodded more than three times, you will be replaced (negotiable). If you are prodded, you must respond to the prod in-thread.
    
  • Treat this game as a commitment and be courteous to your fellow players. I find that this is the best way for everyone to enjoy the game. Thanks. =)
    
  • Each day will automatically have a set deadline of two (2) weeks. In special circumstances, I may extend the deadline at the request of the players or my own discretion.

    want to be a Chosen One), and these two people are basically lynchees for the mafia. They can't be night-killed (to start out with, at least) and cannot be end-gamed; they can only be lynched. And they can only be lynched while there are still townies alive; a 2-mafia-2-chosen endgame is a town win. Of course, even with the Chosen One(s) out of the way, the mafia still has to avoid getting lynched.
    
  • The mafia does not need to lynch both of the Chosen Ones to win the game; they only need to lynch one of the two and of course need to satisfy the remainder of their win condition as well. Once one of the two Chosens is lynched, the second Chosen will revert into the equivalent of a Normal Townie and CAN be NK-ed if the mafia wishes to do so. This second Chosen One will still reveal as a "Chosen One" upon death, however.
    
  • Mafia is allowed to day-talk.
    
  • Rule Edit 1: Mafia knows who Chosen Ones are (as mentioned in scum role PMs).

Cojin's rendition of "Genie in a Bottle" was.......... interesting. Not good interesting, according to most of you, but more like BAD interesting. He was just super-mute for the majority of the song and then when it came down to vote for who he thought was the weakest singer of the bunch, he kinda sorta just didn't participate in any argument or discussion. It almost seemed like his lips were stapled shut.

"I've heard better renditions of 'Genie in a Bottle' that's for sure," mentioned one of you. "For example, Incognito's rendition was much more solid."

Everyone giggled. Even Ether who was kinda just silently watching from outside a window. Weirdo.

So this was it. Cojin was voted out as the worst and had the microphone cord wrapped around his neck to end his own misery.

Was it a good choice? Heck yeah. After dying, his skin turned as green as the Incredible Hulk's skin color -- Cojin was green with envy.

qwints did a decent job singing yesterday. He was also a solid critic of voices! A bit too solid, it seems...

A weird smell was definitely in the air. You all scoured the room trying to find the source when you all notice qwints lying on his side with a microphone shoved up his mouth. Upon closer inspection, he wasn't breathing and the microphone was certainly shoved further than you all initially thought.

"Holy shit. Is that even humanly possible?" questioned one of you.

"Fuck. That was a perfectly good microphone too," commented another.

"Dude, qwints is dead and all you're concerned about is the damn microphone? We can always just yank the damn thing out of his throat anyway for future use..."

An awkward silence.

"Heh, ooooor we could go to Best Buy and get another one...."

hohum, the extremely vocal critic during Day 1, suddenly fell very silent during Day 2. He barely even touched the microphone during his favorite song "I'm Going Back to Cali".

"Sing the song..." pushed one of you.

"In a bit," responded hohum.

"He's probably mourning the loss of his buddy Cojin!!" mentioned one of you.

"Ooo ooo, I know. Let's just kill him."

Tightly wrapped microphone cords have gotta hurt 'specially when they're wrapped around one's neck.

(Whenever I mod, usually after Day 2, I begin to lose my drive for writing these death scenes. Ha. Sorry folks.

Another dawn, another day. A quick look around the room left each of you concerned about Sajin. He was sitting on a chair seeming to be staring outside a window.

"Sajin? Sajin, are you all right?" whispered the five of you.

As you all approached him, a creepy feeling went down each of your spines. Death was definitely in the air again, and it wasn't feeling pretty that's for sure. One of you placed your hand on his shoulder to awaken him but instead, he keeled over falling straight off of the chair and landing flat on the floor with a loud thud. Upon closer examination, you could see thousands and thousands of popcorn kernels protruding from Sajin's mouth.

Looks like the remaining scum is alive and well and used popcorn of all things to suffocate the latest victim. Freaky stuff.

Troll, being the amazing karaoke singer that he is, decided to sing two songs for y'all. He started out with Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried". Stray puppies yelped outside the karaoke stage in disdain.

He then tried again this time singing The Aminals' "House of the Rising Sun". Well, needless to say, Troll wasn't anywhere near as good a singer as Scien and Papa Zito. They voted him as the worst despite MiteyMouse's "Papa Zito is TOTALLY the worst" pleas.

Zorblag quietly faded into the night.

MiteyMouse, realizing the end was upon her, decided to end her misery singing Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" but sadly she tripped over a chair and hung herself by a microphone cord instead. Ouch.

I don't know what method the scum used to day-talk but I assume if they have any transcripts they can decide if they want to share or not. I'll gather some thoughts about the game soon.

I think I like the Chosen set-up as it is now. The issue with having only one Chosen was that if the single Chosen ended up looking particularly town-ish for one reason or another, the scum were basically fried and likely wouldn't have any chance at winning the game. The issue with having multiple veto votes was that it made it easy for towns to just lynch the people who were most likely vetoed, which would likely be damaging for scum as well. Basically, the game was very strongly town-favored all around in the old set-up. This is something that Zorblag exploited fairly well in hohum's game, and I think Albert B. Rampage tried to exploit this a bit in my first Chosen game also.

I think hohum mentioned something about adding another goon and keeping it at one Chosen -- I'm really not too crazy about that since you'd probably also need to add extra townies anyway for two reasons:

1)

to make the game more balanced by normal Mafia standards and

2)

to still give the scum a shot at winning due to the mechanic itself (needing to lynch a Chosen while Vanillas are still alive). 5 townies, 1 Chosen, and 3 scum would... just not work. So yeah, if anyone runs a Chosen again, I'd definitely recommend that he or she uses the layout that we had here (and yes, this includes giving the scum the single veto vote still).

I was initially a bit worried that the game would be a cakewalk for Town when Cojin was lynched Day 1 because it seemed like MiteyMouse was going to be next in line; the cross-bussing thing actually worked really nicely for the scum though. I think the Town largely ignored MiteyMouse for the remainder of the game under the assumption that she was "just a Chosen", and she did a good job of exploiting that. I wonder what would have happened if the wagon swung towards MiteyMouse instead of Cojin though...

I, too, am looking forward to MiteyMouse's thoughts about the game -- I thought the Sajin-kill was decent because he really was obvtown at that point due to his early game mix-up, but I thought for sure that Zorblag was gonna be her NK choice at some point since he was the veto vote in the first place and because it seemed like a good portion of people thought Sajin was a Chosen One, which might have made lynching a real Chosen One much easier as end-game approached. I was pretty positive that Zorblag would push a him-lynch at end-game since his thoughts seemed to line up for that since Day 1 (I think he might have thought twice about it after Night 1 happened but still).

Although, I do believe my death was a bit lacking in its originality.

Sorry, I get really really lazy with the flavor as the game progresses whenever I mod. I only gave the end-game as much flavor as I did because Zorblag inspired me with a PM for his own song requests.

I thought for sure you might have ended up pushing for your own lynch right from the start of Day 4. I think that would have made for an interesting situation haha.

Summer did fly by, that's for sure. I thought it started off slow and then August felt like the equivalent of one day.

Agreed. The fact that nobody needed replacement in this particular game is a testament to how well this seemed to work out.

Incidentally, after watching this game, I really wanna play with you lot (or at least a few of you if I can't get all of you at once) when I get back into playing again. You looked like a really fun bunch.

Yeah, so far that's only happened during the Marathon Day versions: Chosen & Chosen II. Both of those still resulted in Town wins, but the set-up was in the older format.

I think Ether tried once before but Thesp, the old Open Games list mod, said the mechanic was too far from Normal to be in that list. So that's why we run it in Coney Island as a Mini Theme.
