It's generally accepted that a no lynch (especially on day 1)is bad for the town. Besides, it's not much fun.

We could talk about a no lynch, but personally I'd prefer to play the voting, unvoting, FOSing, etc kind of game and eventually lynch someone today.
Also, people very rarely keep their random vote on. They usually unvote and vote someone else when they find someone they think is supicious.

If the number of mafia equals the number of town, the mafia win. 2 mafia and 2 townies is a mafia win.

Whether the cop should come out tomorrow is a question that can be better answered tomorrow, when we know what situation we are in.

It's frustrating when players aren't available - but I guess it's just part of mafia. We just have to hope that Inhim can spare us the time to post in his study breaks occasionally.

And I think JDTAY is wrong and right.... He's wrong because I think we should encourage players to post freely, express their suspicions, comment on the game happenings etc. But he's right that doing so can make you appear suspicious, or may make you an easy target for scum if you are new. I prefer that people post lots of game related stuff often. It makes the game a lot more rewarding for all players. You just have to accept that people will argue with you, accuse you, vote for you, try and get you lynched, etc. But that's what you signed up for.

If we have 2 people claim doc, we are

guaranteed

to lynch a scum either today or tomorrow. Using our smarts, I think we'd be quite likely to lynch them today. Yes the doc will die at night, but it's worth it to get rid of one scum.

No cop should not claim. Especially with the doc apparently out in the open.

Doc shouldn't have claimed so early and JD should've known better. But seeing as he has, we'll work with it. The good news is that it brings our odds of lynching scum today up slightly.

It's a meta-game strategy I guess. If I act differently when I'm town to how I act as scum, I wouldn't do very well in games where I was scum. There are ways you could get a decent idea whether I'm scum or not, but I'm not going to tell you if I don't have to.

It's not reaaly a good strategy for a plain townie to claim doc. The real doc has no way of knowing that the false-claimer is not a scumbag, and the end result would be to expose the doc anyway, and get a townie lynched.

So what are we going to do about the lack of scummy acting people around here? Anyone got an idea?

Speaking of which, why do you suspect JDTAY at a whopping 10%? Wasn't it you who said we essentially had to believe his claim?

Please don't put too much emphasis on the numbers i have used. They're rough. In a game of mafia the only person you should trust 100% is yourself.

Why I think certain players are more likely to be innocent than others: its just my gut reaction as I read through. I'm sorry to be vague.

Not really - it looks like you pulled out all of Myopia's posts, skimmed through them, and nit-picked, rather than objectively looking for scum.

And you seem to throw around the word 'hypocritical' a lot, when there's no real cause for it. It's a negatively loaded word and I really don't think it needs to be used here.

- read it again, there wasn't much of an accusation
- there are going to be times when people say that they thinking someone might be 'acting'. That's what Myopia said Keiron

King E: It was mainly that I was getting more of a townie vibe from Myopia than from anyone else. And I felt that the charges against him were trumped up. I could be completely wrong, but I have to go with my gut on day 1.

Locus, I am not interested in the verbose style of mafia that is becoming common in newbie games lately. The first newbie game I played was all over within 3 pages. There is no obligation on me to post screeds of analysis or dissect anyones' posts with clever insights and witty rebuttals. I am here, I am expressing my suspicions, I am posting, I am voting. Give me a break.

It is NOT the purpose of newbie games for experienced players to impart their amazing scum-catching wisdom to all, and dazzle everyone with amazing logic.

I am not advocating anything. I am simply saying that I play mafia for fun, not to practise my essay writing skills. My participation in this game has been quite adequate.

I've looked over the thread again, and it's still my gut feeling that the other scum is inHim. The only really concrete thing I have against him was it looked to me like he panicked a little when Locus said his "Why have you put inHim & I on top of your list". inHim objected to Locus pairing with him, and pretty soon after that went and voted for Locus, which I think might have been a distancing attempt. He then unvoted Locus later when a convenient other bandwagon came along.

Anyway - I have faith in the rest of the town to make the right choice tomorrow. Don't feel any obligation to vote for inHim just because of my suspicions. Play your own game and follow your own gut feelings.

Myopia, you have the makings of a great mafia player and I really enjoyed being in this game with you. I really hope you play more games here. I'm glad that I managed to pick your alignment, my one consolation from this game.

I think the scum played exceptionally well in this game. It's a pity that circumstances conspired so that King E/keiron was kind of disregarded.
