Mods installed through MagicLauncher kept crashing - you can't do it that way for some reason.

coremods and magiclauncher don't play nicely.

I fixed the Block ID conflict, even changed my Forge config to global and changed both Block ID's in the same file so that neither was using the previously used Block ID, and it still crashes - now seemingly without a reason.

don't change configs, then yours won't match the servers. None of it should have conflicts? it didn't for me.

Also, there is a RB of 1.4.5 (we're still running Beta) but i tried Ignatius to it, and it crashed our server due to the new "blahblahblah plugins wont work if they take advantage of non-bukkit-api settings", so before we can upgrade bukkit i have to update all of our plugins. I'll look at it and figure it all out sometime next week, and 1.4.6 we likely won't update until after the new year, so DO NOT UPDATE TO 1.4.6!!!!!

lockette is less intrusive, you can clearly see who all has acess with knowing little to nothing about lockette

with LWC you have to extensively know its command structure in order to know who ahs access to a chest.


@Rhinox, we've had lockette since before claus gave the server to me. Its just kind of been in limbo waiting for death until this update, and now its dead, so we have to switch to something else (LWC)

also @Everyone else: LWC was tweaked to settings i prefer for our server, mainly, defaulting to off rather than private, as well as now yo ucan lock any of the newer items (such as enderchests if you dont want someone using an enderchest in your base for some reason)

Full Map regeneration is easy. I delete the world folders (either jsut the overworld, or any combination of all three worlds TBD later). Nothing trasnfers over. We all start over from new.
This options is POSSIBLY accompanied with a back-to-vanilla ish feel to our plugin usage. That is also up in the air and TBD at a later date.

Unused Map Regeneration:
We use a special code that checks every chunk on the map for one of the following blocks by default (list is editable): 5,19,20,22,23,25,26,27,28,29,33,34,35,36,41,42,43,44,45,46,47,53,55,57,59,60,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,75,76,77,80,84,85,87,88,89,91,92,93,94,96
Any chunk found with any of these blocks in it, as well as any chunk within a 10-chunk square of it will be preserved. Everything else will be deleted, and able to be re-genned with new regencode.

Although I don't want resets to be a common thing with brand new updates because people are going to feel they shouldn't create stuff it is just to be destroyed.

Something or another that intertwines time on the server and how long they've been on the server. The second has a larger factor. Basically, what I'm trying to get at, is that if this is a "newcomers" argument, it's a bad argument. (Again, no offense but it just is.)

I've been here for nearly 13 months and am in favor of a total reset at the redstone update or a partial reset now, i don't really see how 13 months is newer. I've been here *nearly* as long as our current map, and only a handful of those who are still active can claim longer than I.



I'm also one of the "richest" members of the server to boot.

I suspect that there's a issue related to Minecraft.jar itself- If i update it to 1.4.6 it works perfectly but will not use any mods. I'm guessing, here, that something's configured incorrectly with it, because what i get every time i try is a black screen after i log in.

^ Agreed, but I think I understand Maruchan as well, and I completely disagree with the way Hiraki thinks we want to play this game.

We're not being competitive with our resource-gathering and construction. Just in case anybody's offended by this, I mean no offense, but I don't really play this game to say "look how many diamonds I have" or "look at my awesome house". I don't need approval from anybody else to validate how I play. We all post fun pictures of our travels now and then, of what we build and what we find (and granted I posted a lot back in the first month or so when I got excited a lot while mining) but I play this game to fulfill my own goals and objectives, which are constantly changing and evolving. I don't play it to be competitive with Klaz or Maru or izak or Xalxe or Hiraki or any of you, and I don't play it to gain your approval, as much as I respect you both in-game and out.

What I've been feeling recently with Minecraft and the problem I think Maruchan is trying to address is that no matter how much shit you mine, and no matter what you build, you're always going to come out of it with a sort of drive to want to do more. That's natural in life, and it's natural in Minecraft. His argument (correct me if I'm wrong) is that with a full or partial reset one could potentially reshape one's goals and objectives in the game from the very beginning, starting with "HOLY FUCK I NEED THAT 4-BLOCK SQUARE THING THAT PROTECTS FROM SCARY NIGHTS WITHOUT TORCHES HALP ME" to "FIRST DIAMOND PICKAXE ALRIGHT BABY" - and as Klazam said that kind of thing is somewhat stunted when you know you have several maximally-enchanted Diamond Pickaxes sitting at home just a tp away.

Hope I hit on at least some of what Maru and Klaz are thinking, and hoping that clarifies for those don't/can't/won't understand.
All that being said, yeah it looks like no regen is the way to go. Like so many other issues as of late, the community's to divided to validate doing any of the other options except "doing nothing".

um... Yup.... Multiple times. I think we went through 4 server resets on as many months on the Hogwartia server, and except for the last one, people always sprang back to activity and made something of it.

yes but they have said there is no promise the BetaA worlds will be compatible or that it will even contain the same mods etc.

@Hiraki (and others) the modded server is a *decent* example of why i was pro-map reset.

sure about 66% of the activity on it can be attributed to ZOMG MODS COOL NEW STUFF AWESOMENESS but I'd say about 33% of the activity (of which since i turned it to FTB I have never once logged on and not seen at least 1 usually 3 people online) is due to the fact that the game is a new map and a new challenge because you're starting from scratch. at least for me it is, i havent even begun to touch most of the mods

Okay guys, my sister got into Minecraft recently and now she's wanting to put the Twilight forest mod on the server she uses to play with her friend and get me to join it too. Also she wants Tekkit on there (which is dumb considering she's a huge Minecraft noob). However she's running into a lot of troubles in doing so. Is anyone able to write a tutorial or something to help her do it? At most could someone set up a server.jar file with this all completely done (or whatever else you need) and PM it to me?

Fishy brings me to an interesting idea? Instead of regenerating all unused chunks, what if we regenerated everything but chunks that people didn't want to be regenerated? Is that too much hassle?

No, it could be done reasonably easily. Buuuuuut there's people that aren't around right now...

Being completely honest, if I were asked what chunks I wanted brought with me on a partial regen, I would list basically everything I've ever touched. I think it would be just as easy and much less complicated to only regen unused chunks if a partial regen is the route that is decided upon.

Again, unused chunks are unused meaning what is there to regen? Convenient access to resources you've already collected? no, go mine somewhere else.

if this relates to the overworld, we're not deign any kind of regen in any way shape or form for the forseeable future. The community is too evenly split for me to feel comfortable doing any of the three options, and we therefor default to the simplest: "do nothing".

If you mean nether regen, It is so unused it is pointless to do an unused-only regen, and I'd just prefer we either kept it and explored or regen'd.

Also remember that anyone with the same gun won't be able to use theirs if you've already got Portals out in the world (since a portal from the same type of gun, even if used by a different player, will overwrite any other portal made with the same gun elsewhere).

@Maru: you reset the Aura Nodes when you updated/did whatever you did to the server. I'm not pleased that I lost my 850 Aura Node...and I'm sure others will have qualms.
We need to find a fix so that that doesn't happen again, because it's quite destructive.

MME and claus weer admins, because they paid for/hosted/ran the server. Izak and xalxe were made admins when those two stopped being quite as active, and claus felt he needed more admin presence, and izak and xalxe were the two mostactive players on the server. i was made admin when, like mme and claus, i took over hosting of the server. and atm i don't think anyone feels there is not enough of an admin-pressence in the server, if anything they wish I'd shut up go away and leave well enough alone.

@Maruchan - after doing some research, I am hereby requesting permission to disable The GregTech Intergalactical Mod on the FeedTheBeast Server for the following reasons:

1) It disables many commonly known and widely accepted crafting recipes, which diminish the value of pre-acquired knowledge through research of the Mods contained within the FeedTheBeast ModPack.
2) It eliminates access to, or makes impossibly difficult to acces, many facets of the ModPack (including but not limited to) large portions of IndustrialCraft 2.
3) The GregTech Intergalactical Mod is simply an add-on to IndustrialCraft 2, a Mod which (in the opinions of many of our FTB server-goers) would be better-served without it.

Thoughts? Is this even possible?

Note that there are ores in the End in FTB, and the terrain isn't infinite so neither are the ores... how are we going to deal with that? First come, first served?

Nah, either we regen or spawn in what people need once they run out.
The only big use I've seen so far for them is that Sheldonite Ore can be put in an Induction Smelter for Iridium Ingots, IIRC.

I've seen all I need to see after about 10 seconds researching.

I am willing and able to provide every incentive to people on the Modded server provided they agree to change over to the new modpack - I will even grab our world seed and make sure Maru uses it to generate the new world, then tp people to where they have their builds now, if they like.

@Maru: since they're not on MafiaScum but still play more often than some of the Scummers do, you should get in contact with Blake and Byron (jointed98) to let them know about the switch.

I'm all for switching whenever, before or after EXBL 4.0.

Please let's figure out the Aura issue beforehand, make sure everything there is fixed. Also would recommend grabbing a copy of the whitelist - I can do that if you like.

abusing how? most of the op'd options like more ores bring corruption into the world. I AFK'd mien for 2 reallife hours and the entire age was completely eaten by the decay rate. it isn't sustainable to abuse for logn periods of time.

yes, if you try to do wacky combos, like applying a single-biome world and large-biomes (requires 3 or more) it makes your world unstable and throws in some decay blocks, that eventually overrun everything. Other things like simply choosing "more ores" auto-add these blocks as well, to censor it being to OPed.

normal things though like making a world of your favorite biome, or leaving out all snowy biomes from a world will be allowed and able to flourish.

it is harder to make a private modpack through FTB than it is to make a modpack myself and just send it to you guys. Which as we've determined, runs into errors like not working on macs.

You have to go to every mod dev you want and get permissions from them, then you have to record the permissions somewhere freely accessible and send proof of permissions to the main FTB dev who then returns you with a code. Good luck getting any of the bigwig modders to even deign to reply to you with a no.

Most of the Mods in question have public disclaimers explicitly ALLOWING private modpack use, so I don't see how it could be that hard at all. Regardless - I'm not suggesting that. DW20 sounds perfectly perfect to me. NO GREGTECH <3

xycraft specifically disallows it as well as a few others. Trust me, from what I've read, the complaining of others in the process of building a custom pack, unless they simplify it, it'll be quite hard.

Honestly I like the idea of everyone getting like 2 or 3 things if they want, otherwise they go fresh. Truthfully I only need the single diamond so I can immediately make a Twilight portal. This time I want to do all my dealings in Twilight. The Solar Helmet would be nice for obvious reasons...and well I got so accustomed to the Travelers Boots that moving around without them is painfully slow now.

It's gonna be hard to start fresh as it is when we've amassed so much in this time.

playing anything on SSP will be more laggy than SMP because SSP runs an entire server in your computer which is not optimized to run thigns on a server-level, lie kthe server we use to host shit is. It does all the hard work.
