Don't have a 3DS either, so I second this question.

Pokemon is supposed to be great if that's your thing, Animal Crossing is fun if you just need time to kill, if you've played 999 (9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors) there's a sequel out... That's all I have my eye on, plus KH3D.

I have a little under 10 hours of Tales of Xillia logged and it's pretty fun.

Pros:
- awesome battle system
- characters are pretty fun battle-wise. started using mostly Jude, tried Alvin and just can't get the hang of him,
love
Milla though. haven't played as Elize yet.
- level-up system reminds me of the FFX sphere grid
- leveling up shops is a neat idea.
- everything looks amazing

Cons:
- people taking a few seconds to load in at some towns is slightly annoying but not too bad.
- don't feel too interested in the story (yet); isn't drawing me in as much as Symphonia did
- item limit caps that I don't remember existing are annoying. I barely ever use a Life Bottle and sell like 5-10 per town but I just keep finding them and then not being able to get more from chests :( (also, the 1x limit for food)
- fuck Teepo

Speaking of 3DSes, Target is selling 3DSXLs for $150 (including the Mario&Luigi + Zelda bundle ones) until Saturday (maybe Sunday). I'm probably picking one up tomorrow to hopefully save a ton of money and hoping to god I don't need any emergency money between now and my tax return. I was going to get a 2DS or 2DS+X/Y bundle, but the latter was $150 any way, and I don't mind spending the extra few bucks from the 2DS for a larger screen.

So yay.

I used to play semi-regularly, but also only on Xbox. If my PoS computer could actually run L4D2 I'd play it occasionally.

want.

Well yeah.

I've already played 999 and watched esurio play it, I think I've played it enough that I don't need to go through it again. But I'm getting VLR once I'm not-broke (and/or Fire Emblem). I do have a huge number of games to play already though (ALBW, Pokemon Y, Animal Crossing, and Tales of Xillia on the PS3), so I might put the 3DS games off.

Same. Need third game NOW.

Also, esurio's playing through it and I asked her thoughts and predictions and such (obv super-spoilers ahead). She's gotten the Tenmyouji ending first and I think she's working her way towards Clover's at the moment.

- Tenmyouji is a time traveler of some sort.
- She's incredibly suspicious of Clover, and still thinks Alice is All-Ice.
- When asked who Zero Sr. is, she responded sarcastically, "obviously Sigma from the future."
- When asked who K is, she responded again, "Sigma from the future."

She's on the right track with most of these even if she was joking...

I'm going to enjoy this. (it's also fun picking up on tons of little things after I know the full story).

Starting the 23rd, Nintendo Point cards are 20% off at Best Buy. Again.

So I'm probably spending $40 of my $50 card to get Bravely Default and use the extra $10 to maybe get some cheap game like Pushmo/Crashmo. Might even grab a $20 card so I can check out some other small games and still pay for my year of PokeBank.

a) bought Fire Emblem Awakening now that I have a bigger SD card. game's fuuuuun.
b) Bravely Default is getting slightly boring (beginning of chapter 4)
c) Super Smash Bros 3DS is coming in the summer, Wii-U in the winter. also Greninja is apparently a new character. here's hoping the online isn't as shitty as Brawl so I can play with people

Fans of 999/Virtue's Last Reward will be pleased to know that I'm finally getting around to designing the game I've been wanting to run for years now. Link's in the sig - looking for reviewers and accepting some number of pre-/ins. It should be in the queue about a month-ish from now, so you can also keep your eyes peeled around then.

On another note, I recently sold a TF2 hat (since I can't play it on this laptop anymore slash don't want to play anymore) for like $100 but it's tied to my Steam account and I can't run shit on this laptop. Ideally I'd like to convert it into money I can spend elsewhere (i.e. Paypal). So if anyone that uses PayPal is looking to buy a game in the upcoming Summer Sale or otherwise, shoot me a PM first.

does anyone live/work/travel anywhere near a gamestop (in NA, obviously) and wouldn't mind doing me a huge favor

Gamestop is doing some Pokemon code giveaway thing, featuring an event-only Pokemon that's only available until the 16th (and so far is the only way to get this Pokemon - think Mew or Celebi from the old games). it's a slip of carboard with a scratch-off thing for the code. the codes are free to give away, so you can just walk in and ask for one, no preordering or w/e necessary. esurio and I put off going to Gamestop and the one near us is out of stock. I already have a code (traded on the pokemontrades subreddit) and was planning to pick up an extra or two, but esurio is SOL and we're both kind of anal about missing events like these.

I'll pay you back in a $5-$10 Steam game of your choosing in exchange for a code, for your troubles of having to walk into a Gamestop and ask about Pogeymanz.

Guild Wars 2 is 75% off this weekend during PAX East. Which puts it at $10. No monthly subscription of course.

I've already logged ~80 hours in the last month (40-something on my 'main') so I'd say it's worthwhile. If anyone's interested in playing, head on over to the GW2 Thread. Gate of Madness for the server, although it only
really
matters for World vs World vs World PvP.

GUYS

Hatoful Boyfriend is $1.49 for the next ~4.5 hours.

- it's a dating sim style visual novel about you being a middle school aged girl and
everyone else is a bird

- the first "half" of the game has 12-14 endings, ranging from downright hilarious to surprisingly sad, takes about 4-5 hours to get them all
- the second "half" of the game takes place once you've unlocked most or all of these endings, and puts a much more serious spin on the plot (2-3 hours)
- honestly the entire reason to buy this game is lolpigeons + the entire second half is amazing if you're entertained by the wackiness of the first few hours
- it's
a dollar fifty
. that's like... $0.25 an hour or cheaper. even if you put it down after two hours becuse it's too dumb or something, you wasted getting a Whopper Jr at Burger King basically.

came in here to yell at everyone to play undertale to find that people already did that. I'm only like two hours in but it's amazing. the writing is hilarious, the battle system is cool, and.... well, you want to go in as blind as possible, trust me.

also if ten bucks is really too much, there's a slim chance you can save a buck or two if it shows up in the halloween steam sale

[edit] there's also a free demo on the undertale site, go play that a few times.

yeah I need to work through my backlog now that I'm done/nearly done with Undertale. either need to work on shows or games, and I think I'm gonna restart one of the Tales games soonish

Symphonia is one of my favorite games but I played it so much as a kid idk if I wanna put myself through it again, although I might do it for
Abyssion
, because that was one of the first "super hard bonus boss" fights I ever experienced
Xillia was solid and had a really cool battle system, just got distracted with Pokemon X&Y a few weeks after I bought it
Abyss felt outdated and the main character is
insufferable
, but I hear it gets better?

in the meantime CSD will serve as a game to play when I just want to kill ~half an hour out of boredom.

also I should pick up the FFX/X-2 bundle for nostalgia's sake eventually, but again I played it so much as a kid... maybe I can try Yuna Only No Summons again

Ugh, No Sphere Grid runs sound miserable.

I've heard
Auron Only (Own Sphere Grid)
is either almost as hard or harder than YONS, because while YONS is just lots of grinding, the fact that you
don't get Auron for the longest time means you have to do NSG up to that point, plus his Accuracy/Evasion/Agility sucks
...

Also I forgot about the
Dark Aeons
in the HD remake (I'm assuming they're in there, they were in the original PAL version), and I never did complete the Monster Arena... hrm.

Heartless lack bodies, Nobodies lack hearts. And then there's... Unversed? I forget, been a while.

I need to finish Dream Drop Distance at some point. The plot does get convoluted though. And apparently
there's time travel involved
. Yknow, because that helps clear things up.

1 was a great standalone game and I think the series is fine, although some of the sidegame gimmicks suck (card system in CoM, whatever 358 had that was apparently unmemorable, DDD's Pokemon esque system is weird)... Just gimme 3 so I can go back to smashing things.

this is most likely what I'm grabbing during this Steam sale, with a $50 budget:
Spoiler: $49.34

(yes, I still haven't played Bastion)

is this a good use of my money, yes/yes?

pony island looks interesting enough for <$2, and I don't mind grabbing a few shorter games.

also the GF has Transistor so might just grab Necrodancer: Amplified if nothing else in the $5 range strikes my fancy.

(ps just noticed there's a steam sale thread oops)

So I just played through Doki Doki Literature Club.

It's a dating sim/visual novel. It's free on Steam. It's not too long of a game. I recommend going in blind - don't read the Steam reviews, or anything but the About section, really.

And for those of you that tuned out my post after I said "dating sim/visual novel", no, seriously, go play it anyway.

This game won't be getting out of my head for a while.

I have
one
minor complaint with it, but other than that single thing, I thought it was great. And I also kinda knew what I was getting into, without any specifics.

Then again I literally just finished it 20 minutes ago so

Spoiler: dokidoki super spoilerz
Yeah, specifically
Yuri's suicide scene in Act II
was the one thing that broke my immersion for a moment.

I'll concede on the pacing, too, the game could have used another hour or so of content after the game 'gets good', so to speak. Apparently there's a "true" ending if you
view all possible scenes/routes before Sayori's suicide on a single save file by reloading
so I might go for that eventually. I think I'm gonna wait a little while, though.

None of the tropes the game eventually invokes are particularly
new and exicitng
per se, but I still enjoyed the way it was presented. Also I agonized over the choice of
telling Sayori you love her or she's your dearest friend
because, holy shit MC, both those options are terrible and your general attitude towards
someone who just said they're struggling with depression
is NOT how you deal with this situation, fuck.
