I can't imagine that you would find the story of 2 to be an improvement on the first game's. It just kind feels like if DeviantArt was also a Squaresoft/Disney crossover fanfiction forum.
I played KH1 originally when I was 13 and it had a deep impact on me. Before I had never really played a game like it, mostly because I didn't get a chance to play most games growing up. I really loved it. Looking back, it's not as great as I had thought it was then, but it was certainly a special experience for me. I still haven't gotten to play the others, though.

The plot may have been the only thing I enjoyed about KH1.
jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont
jdodge1019: vermont is made of liberal freaks and cows
jdodge1019: he's not a liberal
jdodge1019: thus he is a cow

"There's no way you're taking Kairi's
heart
!" <best line in the game
Im not much of a plot person in general especially with this game (since my sis went full teenage fangirl with the organization xii and ever since then I have been so extremely distant from the plot) but yeah the first game had probably the best plot since after that it became a metaplot heaven and then number 2 was like hey here's a game with disney as a feature but oh look now it actually has an entire original cast for us to do stupid things with. 1 kept it simple and it kept it cute and it kept it succinct and together.

Probably not. I never finished 2 because my PS2 broke but I got really damn close to the end and the whole Heartless vs Soulless or whatever bullshit they had was just cringey
Heartless lack bodies, Nobodies lack hearts. And then there's... Unversed? I forget, been a while.
I need to finish Dream Drop Distance at some point. The plot does get convoluted though. And apparently
there's time travel involved
. Yknow, because that helps clear things up.
1 was a great standalone game and I think the series is fine, although some of the sidegame gimmicks suck (card system in CoM, whatever 358 had that was apparently unmemorable, DDD's Pokemon esque system is weird)... Just gimme 3 so I can go back to smashing things.
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?
No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.

Yeah but see, I can dig on Heartless because they had a certain charm in the first game and were these ambiguous shadow monsters. Then Nobodies got involved and it's just kinda ambiguous. Some of them are generic looking monsters -- and some of them appear human. It just doesn't have any consistency and seems to have gotten out of control.

If someone with a very strong heart loses their heart, the Nobody that is produced has human-like features (like the people in Twilight Town or Organization XIII).
A Nobody is capable of developing a heart through their experiences.
ok but like isnt it in KH1 where everytime you heal goofy he fucking says "Thanks Donald"
what an ungrateful piece of shit
it sounds like he says it in 2 as well but thats just him saying "Thanks pal"

You sound like my anti-magic sister and that makes me sad.
Aeroga is a godsend in 1 and Thundaga/Reflect in 2 (also fira solely bc of the demyx fight).

Thundaga in 2, at higher levels (and lower levels in a magic enhancing-form) is basically poof and the enemy is gone. It's much the same as in BBS, except in BBS Magnega is more accessible and usable and really adds to Thundaga's effectiveness.
I've found after replaying 1 that Aeroga is a lifesaver, often blocking or reducing very threatening attacks to manageble stuff. The Phantom fight, for example is basically impossible without it. With the addition of the 1.5 bonus heartless, Stopga and Aeroga become very very important to succeeding.
