Hello everyone!

I'm Andrius, resident SE. This is my first time playing as SE. It basically means that I know how to play and I'm willing to play in the Newbie games. (I'm here to hone my scumhunting skills.) If you have questions on how to play, or questions at all you can ask me (and willows_weep, the other SE), but the IC, juilianvonwolfe is the teacher-role in this game. (Don't forget the mod too.)

I've never played with any of you before, so this should be good.

My first game I hammered a townie D1, and was lynched D2. I was town. We lost. But my lynch prevented the Doc from getting lynched, so it was a good death.

Yeah. Most games, even the larger ones start with a RVS stage (Random Voting Stage) to start discussion, since there's not much to go by.

7. This game will have 3 week deadlines. At deadline, the player (or No Lynch) with the most votes will be lynched.

In the case of a tie, the tie breaker will be the player who has the first active vote on them.

Should there be no active votes at deadline no one will be lynched.

1) Do you have any prior experience with the mafia game? If so, elaborate.

For me:
1) This is my 15th game on mafiascum, and I've played a handful on another site, where I also modded about 5 games.
2) I like roles and games that cater to special mechanics, like a Power Thief, etc. (Which is why I usually only play theme games.) My favorite roles so far have been Hades in Greek Mythology, where I won my first scum win. (For details see my sig; the actual game.) My other favorite role was Physician in Werewolf: Wisborg Asylum. I was a Doctor/Roleblocker who could protect people from Werewolf attacks, or roleblock Werewolves. If I targetted the same person twice in a row they would die of an overdose of wolfsbane, which gave me some Vigilante powers. Hades was awesome because I was scumboss of my team and a power thief, and Physician was good because I was town Doc, RB, and Vig.
3) I used to hate Vanilla Townie. I don't anymore. I don't really dislike a role, but Millers are a pain in the butt.
4) I prefer town, after having a

very

long streak of games as mafia. Its too hard to pretend you're town.

And I FoS'd the mod because it was supposed to be funny. And she's a good mod; I like her already.

1) Yes, though I don't feel like elaborating because it'll take ages. I haven't kept track of my games, really, though I joined the site in 2008 and even tried to keep a wiki for my first few games.

4) I generally enjoy playing as town more than anything else, though my first two wins were as scum.

I'm not trying to divert suspicion (there are people seriously suspecting me?), its just he made this interesting error that I don't think we should pass up so easily.

Greek Mythology was probably my favorite game thus far. I was scumboss, with a bodyguard who took a lynch for me. I then convinced the town to lynch my other scumbuddy, because I painted him to look like a lynch-redirector. I stole the hammer from the town, hammered him and got the final counter we needed to win, so I won as last member of the mafia.
Made alot of friends that game, and we nominated it for a scummy for 'most enjoyable game'.

if so it could have been an honest mistake... I could easily see myself making that mistake even now (I get distracted easi-oooh look a kitty)
And to answer whether or not people are actually suspecting you, I can only answer for myself with a strong fos/weak vote... I will lay out my argument:
1a) After you were bandwaggoned on you OMGUSd on one of the newbies(i think they are new) You procedded to respond to me keeping my vote on you stating that you weren't going to OMGUS me, possibly because you knew at that point that while not an expert player or anything I do have a decent base of knowledge of this game, and an OMGUS on me would be less easy than on someone who may have less experience

I didn't OMGUS him, I saw a valid flaw that needs consideration.

2b) while discussing reasons for my vote, you asked me about my feelings on another player, who coincidentally you had voted for and had voted for you which generally looks kinda scummy

That's because I wanted to see what you thought of his goof-up. I'm looking for potential scumbuddies here.

Well, julienvonwolfe is the IC, and he's here to answer any questions you may have.
I'm a SE, with willows. While we have been here longer than you guys, we're not a teaching role.
(You have to apply, and be accepted to be an IC. So you have to be somewhat good at the game. You automatically become an SE once you've completed 2[?] games on-site, so no one said you have to be good. >_>)

You could always PM KittyMo and ask her questions that way, if your question is sensitive/ you're mafia.

A No Lynch cannot possibly help the town this early. A serious bid for a No Lynch is very scummy, as the lynch is the

If they check the thread say, once a day or less, they'd have missed most of the hammer-ops.
And risking a scum-quick-lynch on D1 isn't the best play.
A quick hammer D3 is a good idea.

You can't really. Ask other people what they think of your scummy person. You lynch them and see if they flip scum. That's really the only way in a Newbie game.

Typically, after the night phase is over the mod will open the thread for the next day, and will announce who died that past night.
Since the person is dead, they can't talk, but most mods usually allow a "Bah" post where you say "Bah" to express your sadness/anger over your death.
This here game doesn't allow "Bah" posts once you're dead, thus I am sad.

Andy because he already said he will take out his scumbuddy to win and after a mess up like that he couldn't afford to keep him around he even checked on a bah post to make sure he wouldn't get back at him and the way he votes it seems he's trying to get everyone suspecting everyone and I think his suspicion of me is just a convenient and easy bandwagon.

Let me put it to you this way: dropping your scumbuddy D1 is a horrible move. Period. Especially with a Doc/Cop or both running around; its always a bad move for scum to actively campaign to get their buddies lynched. Unless their buddy is a Usurper, and you're the Godfather. That's different.

@andy: out of curiosity, what is your read on willows?

Typical townie in a Newbie game. Not posting too much, not being too active. SE too, so he knows what he's doing.

I still think Tangion should be the play for today. Due to the Dr voting mishap D1, I'm convinced of the Dr./Tangion scumpairing here.

Thrillville is a Mini Theme game I'm playing in Coney Island, on this site. Its a good game. Kinda' long, but good.

36: Andrius "I'm not usually this chipper" - reminds me of my theory that scum due to the very nature of the game must play differently than they do as town. I'm going to ask for some meta of Andrius' past games on this one so I can make up an opinion. Bear in mind I never lynch on meta alone as that is silly - particularly since Andrius shows awareness of his own meta here - but something I'll keep in mind.

What type of meta would you like?
This game is Greek Mythos, my first bout as scum (scumboss) and my first win as scum. Iecerint called me "Affably Evil" to describe my scum-playstyle. I replaced into this game.
This game is Trader Mafia, where I was in one of two scumteams. My lack of a partner most of D2 is what ruined me, and a Power-Thief stole my Investigation-Immunity, so I was screwed, and lynch D3. I still think I played pretty well, minus the scumbuddy that wasn't there.
This game is Go Play In Traffic. I replaced into a slot that was essentially town-confirmed, and lurked through D2. D3 I got active, as confirmed town, and we lynched scum #3. I played well, led the town until CMAR claimed Cop. Sadly, when it came to LyLo I hammered the wrong guy. We lost. I was last-townie standing. It is still a shameful loss, and I partly blame Fate for being stupid and getting himself force-replaced. But he blames me and CMAR, so its all good.

*I don't really have a current town-meta, because my other Newbie games are baaad, and the only other town game was Mod Abandoned, and the first half I played horribly.**

The only other *completed* game I have as town is Werewolf: Wisborg Asylum where I replaced in D7. We won with the lynch on D7 too. I had an awesome role (part Doctor, part Roleblocker, weak Vigilante) but we won soon after I replaced in. It was a fun game, and a good opportunity.

1) Is an odd defense of something that I think shouldn't have needed a defense in the first place. Somebody has to vote first, right? Also, 'being the most constant poster' has next to nothing to do with being the first to vote; I could have voted first if I had been online, and I daresay (somewhat apologetically) that I'm probably the least constant poster.

You missed my point. I wasn't upset he was voting me, as I voted first; more along the lines that I was the most-constant poster. Lurker scum don't like active posters. >_>

2) This seems to imply that Andrius sees something worthy of comment in the OMGUS reasoning displayed by Tangion, but for whatever reason doesn't bother to expand. The implication here is that it is scummy! But given the context I have to disagree; the disingenuous argument displayed here weakens my opinion of Andrius' towniness.

Part of my role as SE(and your role as IC) is to teach these here people. Something that I've learned (meta me: Newbie 917 and Mini Normal 951) is that if there's a player who's really town, and looks really town, but he isn't dying in the NP, especially when the Doctor is DEAD... he's probably scum. Its something I had to learn the hard way, when in my first game the IC lived to see D3, along with the most townie player. They were scum.

Nope. There are statistics that prove that, in a Newbie Game (F11) if the a scum is killed D1 town will win. If Scum Roleblocker is lynched D1 town wins about 89% of the time. (I'd have to find the source again if you want it.)

I also think Andrius deserves pressure for the reasons I've given. I'll repeat my point about wanting to see some meta, in case it got lost in the wall.

well, we do have the numbers to lynch, just not who we want to... I still find Tangion the scummiest, but without the others (or a self hammer, which would defeat the purpose) we cant lynch him...the active players in here could lynch someone else though, but policy lynches suck and I don't want to see this game devolve to that.

Ok, so here is my take...
Adrien is confirmed town in my book...
1. If I chose to believe Andrius's cop claim, which I do ATM, then andy confirmed him for us...
2. If andy is lying about his claim he is scum... which means Adrien is not... because why would a townie confirm another player as town and fakeclaim a cop?
So that makes the suspects three:
Andy: I still say he played scummy but I also believe his claim for now and see his reasoning behind it...
jntp: scum... the scum here have played very newbscum which leads me to him.
JVW: lurker... though his being alive as an IC worried me...

Honestly, with 5 alive, should we look at lylo possibilities... I want active players in lylo, and while neither jntp or jvw's postcount is great, jvw posts content when he does post, which is better than I can say about jntp.
and @ jntp: I am willing to look past a smaller post count if it is made up for with content, but so far I haven't really seen any of that from you either...

1. Take a leap of faith with me. I'm an SE who's been purposefully playing somewhat badly (as I told Adrien) so I'd be kept alive this far.
2. Even if I were scum, Adrien is still confirmed town.
3. I played scummily for a reason. You have to play somewhat badly when you're an important role. Otherwise the mafia will kill you. In larger games you can't play too well or risk the mafia killing you, but if you play too badly the Vig will get you, so.

I feel like JVW would have given Dr some pointers in pre-game talk, if they were buddies... I'll think about it for a little.

Regarding Andrius' cop claim: it seems to stand up to scrutiny, and we have a 95% confirmed townie out of it - the only possible scenarios for Adrien being scum is if Andrius is a townie who has fake-claimed for some bizarre reason, or if he is cop with a guilty investigation playing games. Gut has been warning me against mothrax since the end of D1. I feel like he did alot of buddying, and generally tried to look town.
Then there's jntp. Lurked D1/D2. NEVER PLACED A VOTE.

I will vote/hammer at deadline, if need be, but I'd like to see what JVW and/or Adrien think.

Actually, I Investigated mothrax N3. And guess what. I got a town result. I was all happy until he was dead. After a moment of WTF I realized I also got a Guilty on JVW. Because I've Investigated all three of you. Mothrax investigated town, and was dead. Julien C was N2's choice. JVW, you tried to throw me a curveball by purposefully not RBing me, but you ended up hannding me a Guilty result.
Why you didn't RB me is beyond me ATM. Killing me and leaving Julien C and mothrax would have been the smarter move, I would think. But oh well.

We see here twice that he played 'scummily' on purpose: or is the cop claim just a convenient cover? (IC MODE: Also, I actually disagree that you have to play somewhat badly with an important role; instead, play town so that the town doesn't lynch you or accidentally force the role out of you, and you're more likely to draw doc investigations at night. Should've said that yesterday.)

I played Doc in Trader Mafia, and tried to keep a dumb profile, acted very VI. (I was actually a Mafia Doctor.)
I've done this before, and its never failed me. You get a good PR that is helpful to the town, (since I know I'm not a good enough player to always draw protection), I play on the neutral side and keep from seeming too town, else I am NK'd. This is especially true with Masons. You just gotta' hide and wait for that massclaim.

I'll point out, however, that the town has not benefited in any way from Andrius' claim, and indeed it led to the jntp lynch yesterday.

Ummm, yeah it did. Adrien C is town. You are scum. Game is ours if C votes you. The game is won C plays follow-the-cop with me. My role has won the game for us, we jusst need to lynch you.

The main scummy feature in this that should make you agree that it's bussing is that there's not much between the 'we dont need a quicklynch' and the 'please claim' - only the 'halo' and Willows making the same point that Andrius did in his original vote. Thus, the case actually did not progress at all, yet Andrius saw fit to push on with the lynch; this should suggest that he saw it as important to be seen to drive the lynch, in order to derive maximum benefit from the bussing.

And you thought it best to hide for the rest of D1. Call it V/LA call it "life" you were blatantly coasting and avoiding his lynch.

Drreallylongname plays like shit sometimes. He actually fakeclaimed Cop, then said I lied and fakeclaimed VT before he claimed scum in one game, and almost outed his partners before his lynch. HE IS KNOWN FOR SOME REALLY SHITTY PLAY. I had a feeling about this guy, (and both of you, I'm sure, have seen downright STUPID PLAY in your time here), and I was right. (I know this because I reviewed the game he did this in.)

Okay, those are the main points. Other things to note are his eagerness to lynch Tangion (see 189) and, probably as a reaction to the backlash that followed that, his extreme reticence in lynching jntp; no doubt he was hoping that Adrien would hammer rather than have to be instrumental on another townie lynch. Also, although he's made many, many posts he doesn't have much actual content (see the 'halo' affair again). Even big vote count analysis in his iso 77 isn't actually analysis but a presentation of information from which he draws conclusions without adequate explanation. And... hmm, oh yeah, his recent meltdown under pressure. I reckon that's a pretty good case, but then, you don't have the benefit of sitting in my shoes.

Yeah, I was hesitant with the jntp lynch. B/c I gut read mothrax and only re-jumped on the jntp wagon because we were 13 hours from deadline and I'd have no time to hammer within deadline.
I don't "meltdown" under pressure. I get emotional because we're SO CLOSE to winning this thing. In Greek Mythology, I had to hammer my scumbuddy to win. I waited ALL DAY, lurked online ALL DAY, even took my status to Invisible, so that I'd lure a townie into doing it. After like 12 hours of watching the thread, he was finally at L-1 and I STOLE THE HAMMER AND DESTROYED HIM. It was glorious. My first scum win, and it was amazing.
Its like, we totally have this game, Adrien C. JVW was trying some shenanigans that left me alive. And ever since I claimed Cop I knew that this scenario would turn up.
