I'm not sure if Ben scum would knowingly push an obvious townhouse scenario.

DGB is right oversoul, that was a dumb question.

Scum cant really afford to be ballsy, can they? since theyre lovers? anyway, ben was scum in Wire Season 1 and lurkaderped all game after i yelled at him. dunno if thats consistent with his usual scumplay though

that last sentence was what we call condesending. its a method of speaking to someonne that you feel wouldnt get the point.

DGB: if we mislynch, the rules say scum gets to remove one of tjemselves from the accusation pool. i dont want to give them a nice prioritized list of who i find scummier if that happens

make them work for that shit

example, say player A gets mislynched, and most of us have said Player B is next scummiest. why would they leave player B around?

see if you follow:

At the time of the sign up thread, no one's alignment had been determined yet.
Regardless of why Ben joined or how hard he fought to get into the game, his alignment still had not been determined yet.
Ergo, there is no possible information regarding his alignment to be gleaned from the question.
When pushed, Oversoul simply replied that there was a reason for the question and he had a plan.
When pushed further, Oversoul simply replied that etc etc etc

All he had to say was "Shit, you're right, I'm an idiot" but instead he plays the "I GOTS A PLAN YOU GUYS"

no. Just no. Next you'll say we should divine peoples' alignments based on the color of their avatars.

i had an epiphany about DGB's wagon and if my theory is correct, theres probably at least one scum on it or having been on it

The epiphany is:

scum lose if even one of them gets caught out
scum dont get a nightkill
scum then needs to figure out who the top scumhunters are and hope for a mislynch on them

i honestly feel theres a strong possibility that DGB is town and the wagon is an attempt to prevent her ever-changing reads from landing on one of them

DGB is provably a top scumhunter and a danger to a team that cant NK her

her wagon smells gross

Finding kanye hard to read is not indicative of his alignment though. same with CES.

defending you may be good enough to have you read venmar as town, but its not for me

BBMolla needs to come back and finish what Kid A started with him

DGB, alternatively, scum could send home the active player and leave the town stuck with the lurkscum

only works if there are other lurkers or blatantly scummy town

therefore posting is more important than ever to avoid creating a lurkmass

It's very new for me, but to call me unfocused is bullcrap--- I do have reads, and I've stated them very, very clearly. Your assertion about me simply posting about meta and speculation is absolutely wrong.

Quilford, I find CES notoriously hard to read (he doesn't post much as town or scum)

Kanye I always find scummy except when he's scum, so I'm trying to repress that bias and read him without that in place.

My DGB read does lean town, but it's still early. I've never been wrong about her, but I know she can be tough even for me to read early on. I don't like the wagon on her at any rate.

Kanye and CES were scum together in Revolution Mafia. We got CES lynched, but I was reading kanye as town in that game.

I don't like GuyInFreezer's Beetlejuice act, but the game started on a weekend, so I suppose I understand it.

And, for the record, I'm not liking Venmar right now either. His posts are the very definition of playing it safe and watching shit go down.

In the Wire Season 1, I tried raging at people specifically to get a reaction out of them. I read Benmage as town for quite a long time in that game because I thought his reaction was town. My shit-flinging allowed jason and Ben both to lurk endlessly and derailed pretty much the entire game for about 30 pages.

in a game with these mechanics, I really don't feel like going through that bullshit again

The reason i dont like the idea pf playing close to the vest is because most of our information can be gained in this phase

if we mislynch, scum flees and all we have in the way of associative tells are connections with the fled scum

I don't necessarily agree with all of Ghostlin's posts, but I do think he seems to be genuinely scumhunting.

Greygnarl's posts are going to give me an ulcer from repressing my murderous rage. If Oversoul wasn't practically caught scum, I'd probably be on either Venmar or gnarl.

See, while flailing in the face of a wagon worries me, it also worries me when it seems like people are trying not to look like they're worried. Do you know what I mean? It makes sense in my head.

Why would you do that? It looks fake as shit when people do that.

I don't think DGB would flee in this game. I think DGB-scum would feel she could talk her way into massive townreads in Post-Day. I have other thoughts about how DGB would probably play this as scum, but I'm keeping them to myself just in case I'm reading her wrong. (which doesn't happen, but still)

Fact: DGB posts A LOT regardless of alignment. This is provable fact.

Question: You said "someone" said she's "distracting and gonna flee." Do YOU feel she's distracting? Or are you just parroting?

Dragging it out for many many pages by insisting that he had a LOLOLOLOL SECRET PLAN
Finally giving up and saying "JUST KIDDING YOU GUYS I WAS TROLLING and my secret plans didn't work!"
and then saying "By the way I'm not really reading the game anyway"
and finally "But I'll provide content soon, I promise!"
Even HE admits that my suspicion is "credible"

It is the assertion of the prosecution that the defendant, Funkroy P. Oversoul has willfully and negligently engaged in activities which have hampered and obstructed the wheels of justice in this town with the intent to flee from custody, leaving in his wake an unreadable mess of an ISO that would make it impossible to easily find his scum buddy in Post-Day.

And, if it may please the court, what the fuck, Ben, I literally posted the case against him on the VERY SAME page in which you were responding to me.

ugh

on the one hand, too scummy to be scum is a logical fallacy
on the other hand, greygnarl isn't exactly known for his manipulation skills
on the third hand, Oversoul is still really scummy
on the fourth hand, greygnarl keeps digging himself deeper
on the fifth hand, I tend to get distracted arguing with people
on the sixth hand, Oversoul doesn't even care how deep he digs himself
on the seventh hand, humans only have two hands anyway.

ugh my painbrain.

how is it any different from Oversoul's behavior though? I agree that gnarl's responses to my questions are scummy as hell. Right now, I'm starting to feel rope on either of them has a good chance of netting us scum.

Once one of the scum flees, though, any continuing wagon analysis or interaction goes out the window. We all become third party.

If we don't lynch right today, the ONLY interactions we'll be able to judge from the fleeing scum is whatever they post today. They won't be around to incriminate or defend their scumbuddy.

Ghostlin, you're forgetting: what if both scum have garnered a lot of suspicion? there may not be a stronger scum player.

Counterwagoning is tough when you have only one buddy. there may be qagons on both scum.

conversely, the possibility exists that neither scum is a weak link

Oversoul, in my estimation is still the scummiest. He may be planning to flee, but he is definitely not a bad player.

I agree, which is why I believe today to be the most pivotal point--- As long as both scum are still in the game, we have more potential information to gather before one of them skips town and ruins any chance of associative reading going forward.

allow me to explain why I think it's weak:

This game has somewhat complicated mechanics. Not the MOST complicated, but somewhat complicated.

I personally have gone back to the OP several times just to make sure I'm making the right assumptions about the setup. I don't want any surprises.

HOWEVER, his first reaction here is "I thought mafia lovers always had daytalk. And also I pre-in'd" And for the record, I also pre-inned, and I don't recall seeing anywhere that they would have daytalk. It almost seems like he was caught off-guard and wasn't sure how to respond.

My point is: One of your points against Venmar is that he doesn't think OS is scum. Laying aside the ridiculousness of "My reads are different, therefore he's scum:"

Why would Venmar be scummy for listing Oversoul as town... if YOU YOURSELF believe oversoul to be town?

Why did you accuse greygnarl of pushing the Venmar "lurker lynch" when YOU YOURSELF used lurking as an excuse to "read" Venmar as scum?

Why did you stop naming your Alex Cross books after nursery rhymes? I, Alex Cross is a terrible name for a book.

I'm reading venmar as town, those are general notes on his play not a scum case
god, you're right!

you've actually listed so many reasons to find him scummy

and listed a case as to why he could be scum

and even assumed he's buddying OS-town (which is something scum do by necessity at times)...

AND THEN CALLED HIM TOWN

do you not see the cognitive disconnect here?

I'm not feeling JS as scum the way I have been with Oversoul, greygnarl, and Kid A, though

And it kinda fucks my head having scumreads on three players when at least one of them has to be town.

WOULD YOU IDIOTS STOP SAYING THAT

fuck my life, man, why the fuck do you guys keep buddying him? first greygnarl, now you. It's like you fucked him last night and forgot to return his calls this morning

seriously! if he's scum, you can't BOTH be scum with him, so what the hell

is this some newfangled reverse psychology bullshit I'm not privvy to?

do you people think that shit actually would work on this site?

IS THAT SERIOUSLY ALL YOU HAVE TO FUCKING ADD AT THIS POINT?!

FOR FUCK'S SAKE

In the last 24 hours, you've done nothing more than "jokingly" call Ben scum and quietly ask everyone not to vote JS

Well I've FUCKING HAD IT

Kid A, god dammit, who's scum? You too, greygnarl, and while I'm fucking at it:
GuyInFreezer, get your sorry fucking ass in here. WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? You sign up for a fucking game, PLAY
CES, we're all used to your bullshit by now but for fuck's sake, PLAY
Venmar, your ISO since Thursday is ABJECT BULLSHIT OF THE HIGHEST FUCKING ORDER
Quilford, is this really the fucking time for your shit! EXPLAIN YOUR FUCKING READS
Benmage, the only FUCKING THING more pathetic than the ISOs of the people I just listed is YOUR FUCKING ISO

Now since this is an open setup YOU CAN'T ALL FUCKING BE SCUM, which means some of you are town with me and ACTIVELY HINDERING MY FUCKING CHANCES at winning this game! I want to catch scum NOW. I don't wanna have to get shit wrong, watch one flee, and then rely on this Day 1 LURKADERP BULLSHIT in order to divine who his buddy was! FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Because rest assured, if this game goes to Post-Day phase, the remainder of the game will almost certainly result in no information--- no one will have any reason to post if we reach the accusation phase and it'll just be ME SCREAMING AT YOU CHUMPS FOR DAYS ON END

GET YOUR FUCKING SHIT TOGETHER

FUCKING POST

ALWAYS FUCKING POST

NEVER BE NOT FUCKING POSTING

POST.

all this time we've been working under the theory that scum's going to flee the weak link, but what if both players are weak links?

they can't both flee, so what would be the optimal plan--- lurkaderp, post as little information as possible, and start flipflopping your reads to confuse the town

unfortunately this applies to AN IMPOSSIBLY LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE GAME RIGHT NOW since as i say, they can't all be scum!

some of them are JUST THAT BAD

GOD am I wrong about Oversoul too?

like at this point, say he's scum with greygnarl

my theory has always been that Oversoul is gonna flee, but if greygnarl is his partner, GG has to flee--- OS is the better player of the two and has more townreads considering it's pretty much just been me wanting OS' blood for the last forty pages

but if it's like, GG and JS or GG and Kid A, then they're BOTH sure to garner suspicion, so they probably don't know which one to flee since both of them are likely to get at least ONE vote if we mislynch today. and that's IF we mislynch.

i seriously need to think about this shit right now because if we mislynch and go to Post-Day, all bets are off--- I don't expect the remainder of the game to yield a hell of alot of useful information if we get to the point where we're all 3rd party

like, other than posting requirements, once we're all third party, there is literally nothing stopping anyone from saying "Well, I have my reads, and I'll keep them to myself" or "I'm reading back through the game, but that's all I'm saying" because it's not like anyone will have any motivation to post anything useful- scum won't want to incriminate themselves and the former town won't necessarily care since we'll be 3rd party. (despite the fact that, you know, it's not like we win independently of one another)

this day is our best chance of LYNCHING SCUM and our best chance of getting information together just in case we get it wrong, and a handful of people are just pissing all over that

but part of my issue about JS is his wagon

GuyinFreezer, Kid A, GG *all* on JS?

A lurkaderp and two of my scumreads

Oversoul's vote is uselessly parked on Kid A which tells me he MIGHT be waiting for someone to put JS at L-1 so he can LOLmishammer

his wagon makes me think that his ISO is so bad, it makes him the perfect person to take the fall for Oversoul and either Kid A or greygnarl

but both Kid A and greygnarl have basically done the reverse psychology bullshit of "LEAVE JS ALONE" so idunno

no they fucking don't have motivation to post, not if they can get you mislynched and flee

optimal scum strategy, especially for the fleeing scum, is to leave an unreadable mess after they flee

you're forgetting that this game is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE POSTING from the town

* Your sudden flip flop on JS- you were "pretty sure" he was town and flustered by kanye, you even said to leave him alone. But now you think he's scum with OS. mmhmm.
* Your assumption that the votes on you are for "playing badly" reads like "scum caught for the wrong reason"
* At one point you claimed your ONLY solid read was Benmage-town. How the fuck is that possible? After all of the activity in the thread at the time, THAT'S your only strong read?
* You refuse to give reads despite the fact that it's been pointed out many times that this day is our best shot at gathering reads on people
* Your reads are pretty much follow-the-leader anyway

Do you have any other reasoning to call him town?
the attitude IS town as fuck--- he's obviously frustrated by the way things are going, which is a pretty understandable way of thinking. Could ghostlin be faking it? sure, but I don't think so

as I said before, I don't generally agree with all of his opinions, but he does seem to be scumhunting--- maybe "town as fuck" is a bit strong, but I definitely don't read him as scum

That's why the post read town as fuck to me--- I already have a town read on him, I legitimately don't understand most of the scum reads on him, and yes, it's pretty fucking obvious why he'd be frustrated with the players he mentioned

Jacob, help me to help you

I can't control DGB when she's like this, man! She's a loose cannon! Chief says a few more days of this and she'll be off the force! I once saw her whip a handcuffed suspect across the face with a car antenna! She's crazy, man, she'll kill you!

What I need you to do, little guy, is stop whining about the game and put in some work! Now, if you cooperate with us, maybe I can get DGB to go lenient on you. But you gotta work with me, kid!

I haven't done the appropriate research, but calling your attackers town can be a way of getting them to cool off, especially if you're afraid that they'll accuse you of OMGUS if you call them scum.

I do think noob scum tends to worry about coming across as OMGUSing more than experienced players, though--- in fact, in general, noob players tend to think about OMGUS more often. (I'd be willing to bet that a direct link could be made between lack of 'OMGUS' accusations and length of experience on the site)

Aping the reads of others is a fairly simple way of "going with the flow" and trying to appear town when you already know peoples' alignments.

And look at this, does this read town? Be honest:

* Your sudden flip flop on Oversoul- you criticized DGB for questioning him, now you think he's scum based on one post. BUT, in post #796, you said you thought Venmar was scum with OS. You did not place your vote on either.
All I can say is that yes, it was a sudden flipflop

* Your sudden flip flop on JS- you were "pretty sure" he was town and flustered by kanye, you even said to leave him alone. But now you think he's scum with OS. mmhmm.
Same thing, that one post, plus me rereading the part where he was posting in other games and stuff made me flipflop. Also, scum
can be flustered.

* Your assumption that the votes on you are for "playing badly" reads like "scum caught for the wrong reason"
Well if I'm town then I have to be playing badly to be a universal scumread.

* At one point you claimed your ONLY solid read was Benmage-town. How the fuck is that possible? After all of the activity in the thread at the time, THAT'S your only strong read?
That was after I missed a day and 7 pages of the game, and when I reread, the only thing that stood out to me was that Ben has to be town.

* You refuse to give reads despite the fact that it's been pointed out many times that this day is our best shot at gathering reads on people
When did I refuse to give reads? I'll give a read on everybody next post.

* Your reads are pretty much follow-the-leader anyway
I already addressed that I am not good at scumhunting, and so most of my game
is
follow the leader.

Please note that Oversoul only recently joined the GG wagon when it became obvious that JS is the likely lynch. Oversoul is absolutely the kind of player to soft-bus when his partner's not in any real danger.
I know it's tempting to look at "who's on the wagon" but every time I have succumbed, it didn't pan out. Evidence for scum (without a result) is flimsy at best, so deciding alignment based on who is on the wagon is one degree separated from the scum itself, so it's very, very weak and not proven effective.

If JS is scum, his lynch will lose the game for OS. It's more likely that he was cornered into voting for the competing wagon than hoping we'd all go "oh hey OS is voting GG so JS is probtown." Occam's Razor. OS needs GG to die, and he's protecting JS.
okay, that actually makes sense

pretend I've been too busy raging at GG and Oversoul to notice the JS case, I'll look over it some more tonight

What's the link between OS and JS specifically?

I get why JS is independently scummy

why wouldn't he just complain about it in his QT? or keep it to himself though?

i'm trying to remember if i complained in-thread in WWE attitude mafia about the fact that the other scumteam had a vig (and thus two kills per night to my scumteam's one)

but then again, I didn't find that out until post game, so I thought I was hunting a serial killer

why complain after the game starts--- and at that point, no less--- if he didn't get a scum role and realize it was gonna be an uphill fight

oh shit and at the point he said that, Oversoul was already starting to gather suspicion--- he had already been wagoned and I was pushing OS hard by that time

that makes sense, if oversoul was going to be the rabblerouser and flee... then it looked like he was in trouble, of course JS would be upset about that fact--- he loses if OS gets lynched

You and I were both in Revolution Mafia where CES was scum, and we saw him lynched. But only after he managed to push wagon on both Fate and SpyreX. I still maintain I'd have never figured out Darox though.

His play here is WILDLY different--- even before he started hydra'ing with Regfan in that game--- CES-scum has the same problem that I've always said about Katsuki-scum. He has an agenda to push and he needs to look more active to work it through. This is PROBABLY CES town. CES is hard to read in general so I can never be sure, but I lean town.

what about KKB's shitty play
or GiF's shitty play
or CES' shitty play
or your own shitty play

How many lynches do you think we get?
Why are you only now worried about benmage?
