Tesseracts:

* can be set to private, owner-only accessible channels which do not inhibit other private channels (e.g. I can have a channel 007 and so can Klaz, but if they're both set to "Owner-Only" they won't connect, EVER, NO MATTER WHAT)

* can be set to only input, only output, or both at the same time, with different things, just by using different sides or different piping methods

* can transport not just Items, but Energy (in BuildCraft MJ/t) and Liquids too (Water, Lava, Oil, Fuel, Biofuel, Molten Ender - all registered Liquids for all Mods are compatible)

...AND ACCORDING TO THE MAJORITY OF THE FTB SERVER USERS - they're not that expensive at all! (In actuality, you're right, they are expensive. But they're worth it.)
They are indeed superior in every way and I will offer my assistance to any who wish to procure/achieve this zenith of Thermal Expansion.

Maestro's Guide to the Creation of the Tesseract

Spoiler: Thermal Expansion Machines you NEED for any Tesseract:
1 Pulverizer - for Pulverizing Lead and Obsidian, THEIR RESPECTIVE IC2 "DUSTS" WILL NOT WORK
1 Induction Smelter - for making the Hardened Glass for the Tesseract Frames (out of Pulverized Obsidian & Pulverized Lead)
1 Magma Crucible - for melting down Ender Pearls into Molten Ender
1 Liquid Transposer - for Transposing the Molten Ender into the Tesseract Frames

Spoiler: Tesseract Frame recipe:
123
456
789

1,3,7,9 = Tin Ingot; 2,4,6,8 = Hardened Glass; 5 = Diamond

After transposing Molten Ender into an Empty Tesseract Frame, you will receive an Unattuned Tesseract.
This is used in one of the final 3 recipes to decide which type of Tesseract you will create.
You will need QUITE A FEW Ender Pearls to get enough Molten Ender for a single Unattuned Tesseract. (around 2 stacks of 16?)

NOTE: The Item Tesseract and Liquid Tesseract require Pneumatic Servos. The Energy Tesseract requires a Redstone Conductance Coil.

Spoiler: Pneumatic Servo recipe:
-2-
456
-8-

2,8 = Iron Ingot; 4,6 = Glass; 5 = Redstone

Spoiler: Redstone Conductance Coil recipe:
--3
-5-
7--

3,7 = Redstone; 5 = Electrum Ingot

NOTE: Electrum Ingots are obtained by smelting "Electrum Blend."
This is an alloy made through dust combination, much like Bronze, except this is 1 Gold Dust + 1 Silver Dust.

ITEM TESSERACT RECIPE

Spoiler:
-2-
456
789

2,7,9 = Tin Ingot; 4,6 = Silver Ingot; 5 = Unattuned Tesseract; 8 = Pneumatic Servo

LIQUID TESSERACT RECIPE

Spoiler:
-2-
456
789

2 = Copper Ingot; 7,9 = Tin Ingot; 4,6 = Silver Ingot; 5 = Unattuned Tesseract; 8 = Pneumatic Servo

ENERGY TESSERACT RECIPE

Spoiler:
-2-
456
789

2 = Electrum Ingot; 7,9 = Lead Ingot; 4,6 = Silver Ingot; 5 = Unattuned Tesseract; 8 = Redstone Conductance Coil

dav, you must pipe the Molten Ender from the Magma Crucible directly to the Liquid Transposer.
Make sure the liquid pipe is connected to an Orange-marked vent on the Magma Crucible and a Blue-marked vent on the Liquid Transposer.

If you can't find the Orange-marked vent, look in the "Configuration" tab in the Magma Crucible GUI.

@Maru: what do you mean "my Tesseracts ate everything you own"? I've set EVERY SINGLE ONE of my Tesseracts (Item/Liquid/Energy alike) to "Owner Only" frequencies. Nobody else should be able to input or output from them.

lol nope, yur doin' it wrong

ALSO CLAUS: Sorry for not notifying you sooner, but basically I moved out of the Voidcastle out of necessity since I Nuked (yes, Nuked) my farms to easily demolish them, so they could then be moved...and the blast didn't go where I thought it would go and half my Castle got taken out with it. I lost incentive to keep living there, and now I live in Klaz's "Egypt" Age in a Giant Sphinx (as you know). I don't really want visitors until everything is completed (e.g. Move of stuff I Own, Workshop Construction, Farm Construction, etc.) but ONCE IT IS *cough*MARU*cough* I will be glad to welcome people into my home.

(They still probably won't be allowed to make Linking Books, since it's Klaz's Age, etc. but that's not something I care about and neither should they.)

P.S. I have love for your Turtles, it's just UNTIL KLAZ GETS US THAT FRIGGIN' TUTORIAL I look at all things Lua and just

ALSO CLAUS: With the destruction of my Farms, I suddenly remembered I'd given you a Linking Book to them...which would now drop you off in a certain-death drop into nothingness. Sorry for the brashness, but I looked in a chest and quickly found said Linking Book and destroyed it - lest you die by horrifyingly unpredictable Void-drop.

Coke will run *longer* than just about anything. So I think it's best to leave it unless you want to go for the sustainable approach - Blaze Rods being slightly more easily more renewable than Coke.

izak, I honestly don't care how useful some think it is. The fact remains its creator is an uncaring, unhelpful, unreserved dickhead and he did not create a mod I find entertaining - and I think many people agree with that statement. IndustrialCraft is (as proven by its continued use
without
GregTech) a FANTASTIC Mod on its own, and there is nothing that needed to be added and certainly nothing that needed to be complicated to the point of extreme frustation like GregTech did.

Can we just agree (both side) to drop it? We don't use GregTech anymore. I for one am glad. Let's move on.

In other news - selecting 5.1.0 causes my Client to CONSISTENTLY CRASH every time I try to start up. Something's wrong with this version.

What's your in-game UN, Lurker?

Also, we're not JUST talking to you. Pretty sure Klaz, dav, mist, Blake, and MAYBE dappy were/are all guilty of this. (No idea about dappy, I'm just guessing because I don't want to say they're all mist's Ages. /inb4theyare) I know for a fact that I have only ever created Ages 15, 30, 31, 45, 102, and 103. Obviously you can see that if everyone only ever created that many we wouldn't be at nearly 200 Ages.

P-Edit: *shrug* I still think it should be the other one and/or that player should need to ask permission WHENEVER they create a new Age. Ages are a significant part of the server experience that can and should be regulated more closely than almost everything else. (except maybe Nuclear Reactors near SpawnTown or something)

10 maybe?

Seriously though, this is unacceptable. This is not you "getting started on Ages".
It looks like you spamming shit to loot. And I doubt you remembered to tell us to delete all 10.

Also, I know I mentioned it once when I was online, but some of you don't understand what an "ACTIVE AGE" is.

If you have the ability to access a private Age, in any way shape or form, I consider it active because it is likely that at least once per login you visit that Age. That means that at least once per login its chunks are loaded by the server, which causes CPU strain, RAM usage, and all the shit we were trying to cut down on with making all the Mystcraft regulations.

From now on, when you tell us to delete an Age, or when we look in the CP and find that an Age is not claimed and is marked for deletion, YOU MUST DESTROY ANY MEANS YOU HAVE OF GETTING BACK TO THAT AGE. Recreating the age after we've deleted the world files puts even more strain on the server. That is unacceptable.

If I have to, I can and will go through personal Safes and chests to find Linking/Descriptive Books for Ages that have been deleted.
You MUST respect this and all other Mystcraft rules that Maru/me/izak institute or be in danger of getting banned from ever creating Mystcraft Ages again.

I will if it happens again. Don't really go looking for the crash report in my /bin right now - also not even sure if it's writing to the folder properly so I wouldn't know if it's really there.

There're two, other than Thaumic Bees.

One adds magical swag and a gun. (and it's from the creator of Equivalent Exchange, IIRC)
The other adds Powersuits that're Modular. It's called Modular Powersuits. Enjoy!

I tried that, unfortunately. But the #FTB guys were more or less congenial about helping: apparently CreeperHost servers are getting bogged down (probably with DW20 users like us) so if you're having trouble downloading the Modpack change your download location in the Options tab.

^ THESE ARE AGES THAT I KNOW FOR A FACT WERE PREVIOUSLY DELETED. I WILL BE DELETING THEM NOW AND SEARCHING FOR THE DESCRIPTIVE/LINKING BOOKS THAT PEOPLE MUST HAVE BEEN USING TO ACCESS THEM. You will get a warning under the new rule - a second infraction and you'll be banned from Mystcrafting for a week (new Mystcraft Admin commands now give us the absolute power to do that).

A third infraction and you will be banned from Mystcrafting permanently.
If you know you have a Mystcraft Book that leads to one of the above Ages, turn it into me when the server goes back up shortly.

Speaking of which, the server will have been updated to Direwolf20 5.1.1. Please make sure you are as well.

I like visitors, it's griefers and sticky-fingered Ops I don't particularly like.

(Also, to those who say we don't have griefers, I say you're wrong. I'm on the lookout for a single culprit fucking with people's machines/houses near SpawnTown and I've been told they've done some undesired remodeling inside the Town itself as well. When I'm sure who it is, they're getting banned. K? Yay! :good: )

Little busy ATM izak, I won't have time for anything MS/MC most of the day.
If I have time to check server for logged-in-peeps and do a quick restart I'll let you know, but if you could try getting the list that'd be great.

You know what to look for...?

That's not the issue - but I was actually going to ask you about that.
Is it set to go off at exactly 3 PM EST? Because that's fucking annoying if people are on.

We're talking about a little quirk with the Ages that I told izak about the other Day.

Basically there're several Ages which are LITERALLY persisting after deletion because there are Chunk Loaders in them. You can see a "world persisting, DIM XXX loaded, persisting" or something in the console about 5-10 times every time server loads up. I'm trying to get a hold of either a) server console startup logs or b) time to get on and watch a restart from console so I can grab the numbers in the split second they show up on the console. But from now on we need make sure deleted Ages are NOT Chunk Loaded with Quarries or anything else, or else whole chunks of the world will be loaded by server memory and will "persist" until we re-enter the deleted worlds and delete the Chunk Loaders.

Me, Maru. Experimented with writing some Ages using the new mechanics while nobody else was online. I deleted the mishaps as I went - these are the ones I'm keeping until further notice and they're labelled on the spreadsheet.

Also, what you say in 11867 is not actually true. I had a Quarry and a Chunk Loader survive a delete of an entire world about 3 times over. If you delete the world files before destroying these chunk-loading objects, they DO NOT disappear, because the chunks they are placed in/loading still exist, specifically because the objects themselves are still loading them. Believe me, it makes no sense to me either but it is what happens. Check the console yourself and see. And how do you think so many Ages are being "recreated" in the CP without people entering them? Klaz's Age 18 keeps coming back, and I can't think of any other good explanation than that it's persisting. That may be a different case entirely, but you see my point and I have SEEN this thing happen, so I "of all people" know better, sure, that it may not happen all the time, but it does happen.

I think that's mainly because we need to delete Ages while server is off or else the chunks were never technically unloaded and don't delete properly.

Chickenbones' Chunk Loaders load the chunks around them on server start-up - yet another reason they're better than RailCraft World Anchors.

In post 11877, izakthegoomba wrote:Ok, here's my totally non-official take on what's happening with the rogue ages. Presumably when the server is shut down, the chunks thatvneed to be loaded immediately on startup must be saved to a file of some kind, OUTSIDE of the world save. When the server is started up again, there is no check for whether the loader/quarry is still there - because there's normally no reason for it not to be. The chunks are regenerated and the age continues to exist.

Assuming this is right, just deleting the ages a second time should permanently remove them.

Welp, Age 103 survived about 3 or 4 deletions before I went back in, saw my quarry + all the machinery helping it run + the little house I'd built right nearby. Destroyed them in a mad flurry while 50 million mobs spawned under a dark overhang of regenerated terrain nearby, and GTFO.

P-Edit: Er, I never had to do that for mine. But ok...

They double-load, so I'd prefer he not do that. I'm still surprised though...all my Quarries have switched right back on without me having to go to them at server restart, AFAIK. I'm not saying you're lying, Klaz, but I am saying it's not consistent so I'm not sure what to do about it.

Also, er...I'd very much prefer I NOT be the one to handle Age deletion. But if you want me to, ok. Not sure why past mistakes are qualifications either, but I do agree that it should be a little more transparent. The error before was not "oh look Ages, better delete without looking at spreadsheet, herpderp" it was more just human error. Knowing what's on the spreadsheet and correctly deleting what's not there is little more confusing than it sounds, especially when there're certain Ages that continue to be claiming and others that're in constant flux. (no pun intended)

Would like Maru and izak to weigh in, but I don't think it's as huge of an issue as you believe, TBH.

Jesus dude...

EDIT: FUCK YOU MARU, THAT WAS WAY MORE THAN 12 HOURS. MY ENTIRE AGE IS EMPTY AGAIN. STOP FUCKING WITH BUKKIT AND THE AGE BACK-UPS, PLEASE AND THANK YOU AND DONE. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.

Things I have to rebuild:

* my entire RedPower Solar Array
* my entire RedPower sorting facility
* my entire HOUSE
* my semi-automated IC2 Machine Lab
* my automated IC2/Thermal Exp. Scrap/UUM Factory

and if you think that's not enough to warrant me yelling at you, fuck off. Seriously. You shouldn't just DO SHIT that deletes entire worlds, and if there's EVEN A CHANCE that it could, and you simply HAVE to do it (which you didn't) then you should back them up RIGHT BEFORE you fuck with everything. Maybe make this a policy in the future? Especially when SOME people are trying to reset from the last time one of us fucked everything up.

Seconded, Klaz.

I need to check on mah Bees and shit anyway, I guess. And I should probably tell ya where you should build. Klaz's Machine Temple is now nearby.

Rhinox, all that work looks fantastic - glad I stayed logged off on the island so I can check up on your progress until you start designing the actual maze - at which point I'll skeedaddle. If you need ANY donations of Iron, Diamond, or the equivalent Pickaxes (including enchantments) Klaz and I have TONS lying around on the Vanilla Server that I can assure you we'd love to see used. Our house is probably the closest to your island (if you went due South like you planned. I can't remember if this was the case.) so just let me know anytime you see me online on either server and I'll hop on and happily do some time in the Blaze Farm to get you some enchanted Diamond Pickaxes for your hard work. :D

Hey, really sick IRL so not gonna be on site for that long at all...I'm thinking I could give my cell to you and Corin, Maru, that way maybe I'd know about stuff ASAP so we can get the word out? I dunno, I feel like some people feel disconnected just because they aren't on IRC at exactly the right moment which seems to me to be 1) silly, 2) totally not anybody's fault, and 3) already discussed. So whatever.

@Rhinox: I can definitely set read-only FTP access, and I believe we can even limit it to the 'Nilla server, but we'll need to do a test while we're both also on IRC (so not today, because sickness) so we can figure out if it actually works for the kindof back-ups you'd want to do. That being said, I think you may run into the same kinds of problems that Maru talks about. AFAIK (inb4izaksaysI'mwrong) there's no real way to discern which part of the "world" folder in Bukkit link to which places, ergo there's no way to make sure you're JUST backing up places that've actually changed, ergo you'd need to backup the entire fuckin' Nilla server...which can't be a time-economical thing for you to take on doing.

@Maru/izak: I agree we definitely need to discuss some things with the backups - even following the SpawnTown incident I'm pretty sure we needed maybe a weekly back-up to get rid of the damage. MONTHLY is, IMO, quite ridiculous...I mean, of course we should have the 24-hour back-ups, but I don't saving them for a MONTH in previous would be very helpful at all. NOt sure when the last time was that we even had to back-up that far in the past (those in the chesskid era can say, I guess) but I really don't see it being necessary ever again. A week, 2 weeks MAXIMUM for permanent-saving of back-ups, I'd say would be enough.

Anything else?

Oh, right, this thing. STFU and calm down till we hear or see something definite. I'll talk to him about it but if anybody leaves after this so be it. No need to be all histrionic before we even know anything for sure.

We will discuss things people want back/what to do with the restart in a place that is not this thread. I completely approve of the above post, all it contains, all it informs, and nobody should have any problem with what is happening. Talk to me via PM, or go to this quicktopic if you REALLY ABSOLUTELY 100% MUST rant or if you want to ask for things back. I prefer lists via PM.

Claus/Rhinos/Eek: lemme know when you're online here and I can try and get you CP access, but I'll be V/LA at least for today and tomorrow whilst sick. Thanks o/

I will not be a part of that decision. And it most certainly something that should be in the QT I just posted. If you feel that strongly about it you may start discussion, but I can safely say I have NO problems with the way Maru/Corin have run the FTB Server. They've handled everything as well as they possibly could, and the 3 main errors in file saving/backup/deletion have been 1) human error on my part, 2) a failed installation attempt done for the sake of the server itself, which shouldn't have backfired in anyway and which did so with minimum effect, and 3) a complete freak file corruption error.

Nope. In fact I've been speaking out against use of Mystcraft (and Twilight) until the server is more permanent.
So here's everybody's official warning: you can keep your Descriptive Books for now, but you are not allowed to use them.

@Maru: when is server consolidation likely to happen? The RAM loss on the temporary location of the FTB server, plus the lack of CP control, is getting quite noticeable and frustrating...I was under the impression this was going to be a problem that lasted a matter of hours, but please keep me informed.

Modpack installation outside of precreated packs is harder on both the sysops (Corin) and the users when installing. basically it's more shit to set up for everybody when we could just grab FTB stuff and press start

Corin, the sysops guy you sometimes see in this thread and on IRC, understands pretty perfectly what the server's doing, AFAIK

I mean, he and Maru differ with their opinions on what's to be done with it, but I'm sure if there was ACTUAL debugging to be done he could/would've done it

Maru, I flat-out refused to play with that eye-sore of a railroad, and as I said on IRC, I subsequently destroyed all parts of it near my/tasty/Klazam's house. It looked SO BAD that there was no way you'd be able to make it look decent without completely redoing it anyway - you carved a hole through MY hill, threw down rails where I'M planning having my Thaumlab, built a 1 block DIRT BRIDGE over Tasty's river valley, and the attempt at an overpass by mist's house was a failure.

Do it right the first time or don't do it at all - and I don't want ANY of it near my house anyway

YOU don't know where I'm going to build near my house because even I'm not sure yet, as soon as I get my basement figured out (and hopefully my lag/crash issues as well) I'll be deciding that, so please do what Rhinox says for anybody who asks - and that would include me

AND I MIGHT ADD I destroyed the parts that went near Spawn too, izak would've had a conniption

please don't do that again without it being fixed/prettified before anybody else sees it

better planning would be recommended to - you took neither the fastest nor the smartest route to each destination so it was obvious you were just slapping down rails

I didn't touch anything past mist's house or in the immediate area of the bridge the Clammy started
(WHICH BY THE WAY, did NOT require a Gravichestplate - at least if we're talking about the same place. it's like 5 blocks above a river past my house near a Fir Forest...?)

That's because you probably auto-updated to the newly-released 1.5.1 (or 1.5.2)

you'll need to downgrade to 1.4.7 to play on the server - psure we've been waiting for Bukkit (the server-running plugin software thingy) to update to 1.5.1 before we do

I'll just add on to that, shall I?

Rhinox: Steam Engines are a slightly higher tier engine that are a little more complicated to use than Vanilla BuildCraft Engines. I would suggest you stick to these for now (or at least the Stirling Engine) since they are 10x easier to understand and don't have as many of the prerequisite problems you've been running up against. All of what Claus advises is awesome, do that. Liquiducts and most Thermal Expansion BuildCraft upgrades (Energy Conduits, etc.) are WAY more efficient and effective than their Vanilla BC counterparts. Liquiducts are most definitely the way to go.

If you still have the Tesseract I gave you, I'll need to do some modifications with it and with my tank before you can take all the steam you want out of it, but my main advice for now would be to switch to the more everyday BuildCraft engines for use until you're a little more solid with BC3/IC2, Forestry, etc.

Here's exactly what you need for EACH Stirling Engine:

(1 Glass, 1 Iron Ingot, 1 Redstone, 7 Wooden Planks, 15 Cobblestone)
Craft a Piston from some of the materials above.

Spoiler: Just in case anybody forgot...
Image

(You should have 1 Glass, 4 Wooden Planks, 11 Cobblestone, 1 Piston)
Craft 8 Sticks from the Wooden Planks and craft the Sticks into Wooden Gears, as shown in the next spoiler.
Use the Wooden Gears and the Cobblestone to make Stone Gears, the next Gear tier (lol) in the spoiler.

Spoiler: BuildCraft Gears
Image

At this point, you're pretty much done. Then just craft it all together as it says here.
If you check out the wiki page I just linked, you'll notice that Stirling Engines run on Vanilla fuel (Logs, Planks, Sticks, Saplings, Lava, etc.).
They do sometimes explode, but this should only happen if the Engine is supplying more power than the thing it's powering can safely intake.

They're a modest-output Engines to start out with, I assure you it's less complicated then you're making it. :)

Lemme know if you need any more help Rhino!

Rhinox is right. :D

MJ = Minecraft Joule, which is BuildCraft's kinetic
lol
energy
(basically energy of motion, from engines of some kind: Redstone Engines, Stirling Engines, Combustion Engines, Electrical Engines, etc.)

EU = Electrical Unit, which is IndustrialCraft's electricital energy
(exclusively from generators of some kind: Heat Generators, Geothermal Generators, Solar Panels, Nuclear Reactors, etc.)

yeah in fact all of these machines Mist mentions are from IndustrialCraft, so they run on EU, not MJ

Yes, several:

The Electrical Engine I mentioned is the most basic form of conversion, in my opinion.

It takes input in the form of EU (IndustrialCraft electrical energy) and outputs it in the form of MJ (BuildCraft/Thermal Expansion/Forestry kinetic energy). All you need to do is wire Copper/Gold/Glass Fibre Cable from something that produces EU* and plug it into the Engine, then switch it on with Redstone - voila! MJ production from IndustrialCraft Solar Panels or Geothermal Generators!

(P.S. This is what our friendly neighborhood Oso is doing. Ask him about it as well - he'll have some good tips from a "person who started out with all this crazy shit rather recently" viewpoint.)

*WRT EU production voltage: from experience, I believe Electrical Engines actually ignore voltage, so you could technically power them straight from the most volatile Nuclear Reactor... :shifty:

Most options I can think of off the top of my head right now:
- (EU -> MJ) IndustrialCraft Generators of any kind plugged into Electrical Engine(s); couldn't be simpler really!
- (MJ -> EU) Biomass / Biofuel in a Bio Generator; a somewhat lengthy process that involves several Forestry machines (Fermenter, Still, etc.) but can be the most eco-friendly way of doing things if you have an unlimited Tree Farm like dappyscroo or Blake.
- (RailCraft Steam -> EU) Steam Boilers are a REALLY complicated thing to get set up (ask Blake - he's got a long way to go before he's got a big steam producer running) but once you get them hot enough the extra Steam you're generating can go straight into a Steam Turbine - which generates EU!
- (RedPower Blutricity -> MJ) Blulectric Engines are the single most powerful BuildCraft-style Engines in the game. Period. If you have the RedPower technology and you want to get Minecraft Joules, there's no better way than the Blulectric Engine. Blutricity can be DAMN complicated to set up, and requires some kind of godlike affinity for finding Nikolite (because yes, you will use up all 50 Stacks you've found, and you'll use it up VERY quickly), but if you can manage it, there's nothing you can't power with MJ.

Pretty sure there's another big one that even I've used, but I can't be fucked to remember right now.

Oh, another MJ -> EU conversion would be a Magma Crucible chugging through Netherrack/Cobble and pouring it's output into a Geothermal Generator. :)
(Anybody can feel free to steal this idea if they wish. Not sure how efficient it would be but who knows? EDIT: lol y'all're Nether pumpin' for your lava, I forgot)

1) We've always had a kindof, common sense limit PER CHUNKLOADER (I think 25 chunks for non-Ops, but only because Op's through Chunkloaders down for things like communal Mob Farms, etc.) and we've had a per-player limit of 2 Chunkloading machines since the first iteration of the FTB server (yes that include Quarries). Not sure how many follow it anymore, because we've been a bit lax in enforcing that rule...but most people don't NEED more than one or 2 to chunkload what they have.

2) Everything Claus said. Tesseract channels are fully configurable - you can have them set to public or private and you can have as many inputs and/or outputs on a channel that you want. I didn't know that they capped off at 100 MJ/t actually, but it's hardly likely whatever machine(s) you're powering will need TONS more power than that.

RE - Tanks: Xycraft tanks (technically the Xycraft Valve Block) are the only things I know of that actively even out the liquid between two Tanks. But I'm pretty sure PIPES will always try to do that, as long as it's the same liquid, obviously.

3) If your power usage is ever < your power production, Conductive Pipes will eventually contain the energy in a backlog and explode. As Claus says, Redstone Energy Conduits will not do this, and I believe they also stop drawing power from Redstone Energy Cells when there's nothing requesting power, but that could only be for Thermal Expansion machines.

If you ever think your MJ production will surpass your usage, you should look into the process of building Redstone Energy Cells. They are similar to the IndustrialCraft BatBox/MFE/MFSU except they contain Minecraft Joules and can output it when requested or what triggered. If you want a tutorial on Redstone Energy Cells, you could ask Oso, or build an Induction Smelter, Magma Crucible, and Liquid Transposer - all Thermal Expansion machines, the same you'd use to build a Tesseract - then come find me.

P-Edit: dappy, don't confuse the poor chap now. I think we're the only two on-server who EVER use Gates.

I just meant we were the only ones who commonly utilized them in everyday practice, not that we were the only ones who UNDERSTOOD HOW to use them.

P-Edit: *shrug* It's true, you all just never asked. Besides, if you're pumping Energy cross-dimensionally there's gonna be costs. And 5% per machine isn't NEARLY as bad as it sounds given all their awesome features and the fact that they don't decay energy over space, like Conductive Pipes.

izak, dappy, or I can come in sometime and pull some RedPower magic up in this shiz - the RedPower Pneumatic Tubes are INFINITELY more intelligent than BuildCrash pipes. Their machines are awesome too - and the whole system basically knows when to pump and when not to pump items in and out of machines...it's fucking awesome and you need to try it

That's a good solution (especially since Netherrack is UUM-able and Magma Crucibles could easily [IMO] be powered by non-Biomass Engines), but I'm sure Oso's told you about his Netherpump?

jmj, just Google minecraft 1.4.7 jar and this is literally the second or third thing, it's from the official Mojang site - they keep EVERY SINGLE version (in .jar format) on their site in the assets section, the one you want is here: http://assets.minecraft.net/1_4_7/minecraft.jar

also since we've had Bukkit, when has the server ever updated with Minecraft itself? we always wait for a stable Bukkit build etc.
