So... since the 5.2 update I've been having a lot of trouble with the FTB server. When I can get in, I get lots of lag that makes playing pretty unbearable. Such as, when I'm mining, my client will show me breaking like 5 blocks. And then like 10 seconds later, 4 of them pop back into existence, like I never mined them. Sometimes it acts like my client is completely disconnected from the server altogether. Such as I go around digging sand and the blocks disappear but don't drop the resource. Same with breaking torches or just doing anything really. But when I log off and log back on, I do have the resources I didn't see being dropped in my inventory.

I also went through a stretch this weekend where I couldn't even connect to the server at all. I'd have a red X on my server screen showing the server couldn't be found even though people were playing and people on IRC were telling me everything was fine. Then if I could see the server, I'd try to connect and get an unable to connect error. Same thing, everyone telling me it was fine. This persisted through restarting the client several times, and restarting my PC.

While all this was happening there were a few times in between where I could log on and everything would appear to be fine. But I also now frequently see crashes and get kicked back to the menu screen. Again, since I upgraded my computer a month ago, I have never seen this once. It only started happening after the 5.2 update.

Only thing I've really noticed is that for some reason on my server screen I now only have a 1 green bar which I'm assuming is indicating my connection strength to the server. I haven't tried to get on the vanilla server to see if its just FTB or both servers, but I did check enough to see I only have 1 green bar there as well.

Everyone on IRC was telling me the error must be on my end but I don't see how it is. Everything on my PC is working the same. I did a speedtest and my numbers matched what I posted earlier in the thread a few weeks ago, when I wasn't having any issues at all, except minor lag. I don't see anything on my end that changed to affect my connection strength to all of the maru-hosted servers, but as of this weekend, I pretty much can't play minecraft at all on the FTB server, and IDK about the vanilla server but based on the one green bar its probably just as bad.

So... what changed? And how can it be fixed so I can enjoy playing minecraft on the servers again?
