I've been looking fruitlessly for a place to live in the over world- all of my machines and shit will be in Egypt, but I want my main living place, farms, etc in the over world.

It looks like I'll have to do some massive terraforming somewhere. To avoid this, Anybody know of a plains or meadow biome, not riddled with caves or ravines, with water nearby, and a non forested mountain biome bordering the plains on one side? I don't want it to be entirely ringed by mountains, and I do not want snow or deserts to be nearby.

I know why these ages are persisting.

I realized that age 18 was my cave world age, which I used for looting too.

I used a portal gun there and they were NOT cleared.

An op has to go in all these ages and clear every portal...

Also, 111 is maru's age. You put in a chunk loader there.

Edit: actually I'm wrong. Age 18 was sand and crystal. No idea why it's not being deleted. I'm 98% sure that it has no portals or chunk loaders.

Chickenbones' Chunk Loaders load the chunks around them on server start-up - yet another reason they're better than RailCraft World Anchors.

The issue isn't with the chunk loaders. I have to go to my quarry age specifically to have it load the quarry.

I'm not upset by any means. It's just a game. I am, however, frustrated with the occurrence of the incident. I like to consider myself an active and devoted player, and having something taken away from you that you worked hard for can be very, very frustrating.

I love the game. I love the community. I don't like having to restart (restart#4 for me) but I'd kind of prefer a restart over creativity everything back in.

I'd be rather disappointed that we lose a sigficant amount of the player base over this.

I don't know what we should be doing about this.

It seems that the admins are promising that something like this won't happen again, so I'm willing to give it a fourth chance. Rob and dav, I'd like very much to have you two stay on server.

It may be true that i accomplished more in 1 hour on THIS server, but this is my third attempt at FTB. On the very first we had a 5 or 6 person collective cooperatively working together and teaching each other about everything. It took us around 2-3 weeks to figure everything out. THEN WE RESTARTED AND I DID IT ALL AGAIN. then M messed up and i did it again, then now on this server. Im sure that if you had the same amount of time, you'd be doing as much as me.

One thing you should be aware of, when using redstone energy conduits, you lose 5% power every time energy goes in conduits. Tesseracts make you lose 25% energy. so if i had, say 100 mjs going in a tesseract, i'd only have 75 coming out.

Klaz your crash counter is pretty cool, but it appears to be counting server resets which are set to auto-happen every 3 hours, with a 2-minute prior warning, so it'll be off by a number that grows by 8 every day (we don't really crash all that often any more, the crashing is all client-side, where it knocks off every client then takes a minute and lets you keep playing, but the server itself doesn't actually crash. So TBH this counter will never work, because it won't read the client-kicking crashes as server still persists, and it WILL count planned restarts)

A) I was about to ask you about how often the server restarts daily. I was planning to factor that in. So the number is 8?

B) Not much i can do about the kickoff client crashes.

Last night, my events server started up for the first time. It was a success. We played The Walls 1 and successfully had Dav, Mist, M, Blake, Me, and Klaz all in the server with no server lag. I'll be running this server with pre-planned events, with occasional spontaneous stuff if enough people in IRC want me to turn it on for something.

dappyscroo, the reason the decision was made to nix RedPower2 was not because of ANY fault in its content. The fault lies with the Mod author, who is unreliable and has not released a build for 1.5.2 at this point in time. With the timetable drawing ever nearer, and the server issues as they were/are getting worse, we can't and shouldn't wait on a single MOd to have a stable server experience. It's as simple as that.

I'm aware of Eloraam's elusiveness, but I think it's unfair the way she's being pilloried by many people. The mod is awesome, and I'm sure there will be a new release at some point when she has enough time to devote to it -- which is nobody's business but her own.

In the meantime there is a perfectly working RedPower 2 version for MC 1.4.7, so what I don't understand is why we have to go to MC 1.5.x.

However -- I've been having a think, and it looks like a combination of ComputerCraft (with MiscPeripherals) and MineFactory Reloaded will allow quite a lot of complex stuff to be done. Anyone know if computers/turtles can properly read MFR rednet cables in the way they can with RP2 bundled cables?

They're now being maintained on Planet Minecraft, but there's no licence, meaning there's no way the FTB team will let us use it. I'm putting Rei's in the info file unless we get permission somehow.

in other news- I'm playing the new modpack in ssp- something I've noticed, but I'm not sure if I should be changing: one of the mods add petroleum, which basically can be smelted in copper ingots. these petroleum veins is 40-50 blocks in size, so copper is VERY common. I looked over all the mods, and I don't think having a lot of copper is espically game breaking, unlike if it would be if ic2 was installed.

quick input from community- should I leave the petroleum alone, or edit configs to remove petroleum?

other than that, everything is really awesome and fun.

I was just thinking in terms of the spontaneous crashes we had and how much grief this would cause if they continue on the new server (but hopefully not with the new modpack and all)

my computer cannot run any kind of ftb modpack without crashing in ssp.

it runs this pack just fine.

Posting this for myself:

-Xmx1024m -Xms1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m

The above is java parameters i and maestro use in our ftb launchers to reduce lag extremely. I believe that particular problem is specific to macs, but feel free to try.

(Options-Advanced Options- Additional Java Parameters)

EDIT: Blake confirmed this is also helpful on windows.
