Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Mafia

Backup Mod: Max

The station Deep Space Nine, built by the Cardassians during their occupation of the planet Bajor. Since being transferred to Federation control at the end of the occupation, it has seen the discovery of a wormhole to the faraway Gamma Quadrant, and acted as a centre of trade and travel. It has also, however, seen war.

It is the height of the Dominion War. The Dominion, led by the mysterious Founders, has invaded the Alpha Quadrant and taken on the combined forces of the Federation, Klingons and Romulans. As the gateway to the quadrants, DS9 has become the single most important strategic location in the galaxy. And so it is fitting that the final battle will take place aboard this station.

It has become clear that Dominion agents have infiltrated the station. Nobody can be sure of who is trustworthy. It looks like, despite all the 24th century technology at your disposal, it's time for a good old-fashioned mob lynching session.

Way of the Warrior

Shouts and accusations bounce back and forth across the Promenade, as everyone suspects their colleagues of being Dominion spies. Amidst the debate, one voice begins to roar louder than the others. Eventually, ZONEACE tires of this unproductive chatter. He pushes through the crowd until he is facing the object of his fury, brandishing a bat'leth. Looks like some rookie security guard forgot to confiscate that when he entered the Promenade.

"I challenge you," growls ZONEACE, "to face me in honourable combat!"

"Hey, pallie," Jebus exclaims, fear etched across his face, "this is all just a misunderstanding. Look, can I just sing you guys a song and we can all calm down and think this through?"

"DOMINION COWARD!" cries ZONEACE, and slices him clean in two.

As a shocked silence descends on the mob, their surroundings fizzle and fade into a small black room with a console by the door. It turns out the citizens of Deep Space Nine weren't on the real Promenade, just in the holosuite. And ZONEACE had just prematurely ended the program.

Everyone leaves the holosuite, returning to the real-life Promenade. Slowly, discussion resumes, as the group resolve to find the true perpetrators of the Dominion conspiracy before the day is out.

The citizens of Deep Space Nine argue in the wake of the termination of Vic Fontaine. As the day wears on it is sekinj who draws suspicion, with five of the group slowly converging upon him. Worried that his cover might be blown, sekinj begins to get prickly under the pressure.

Eventually the argument develops into a full-blown shouting match, sekinj's frustration clear for all to see, all pretense of subterfuge abandoned. Once people took a long look at him, it wasn't hard to recognise the face of Damar.

In the end, it gets too much to bear. "You fools!" sekinj yells. "You've blown this for all of us!" And then he takes a phaser to his head.

Cardassia will never get the hero it deserves.

Soldiers of the Empire

ZONEACE does not feel remorse over terminating Vic Fontaine's program yesterday. He may not have been a Dominion agent but no innocent life was lost. When the crisis passes he knows that he and his Klingon brothers will laugh about the incident over a barrel (or three) of bloodwine.

What the wily general

regret, however, was not being able to test himself against a more challenging opponent. Martok was becoming restless in the wait to gut a real enemy, one who could actually fight back. With time, he tells himself, his drive only increases, and woe betide the soulless Jem'Hadar whom next he meets.

Unfortunately for ZONEACE, he couldn't kill an enemy he could not see. In the long second during which he felt the pain from the phaser beam spread across his body, Martok hoped that despite this most dishonourable death he would still make it to Sto-vo-kor.

Martok's death makes the gravity of the situation all too clear for the citizens of DS9, prompting ooba to suggest that he has evidence against M4yhem. Just as their fallen comrade would have wanted, the group act quickly and prepare to execute him, but it is M4yhem himself, like Damar the day before, who has the final say. Determined to prevent further damage to the Dominion cause, Weyoun activates his termination implant. Having taken their first enemy victim, the DS9ers resolve to finish this battle before the Dominion can clone a new version of him.

In the Pale Moonlight

ooba skulks along the station's corridors, keeping a watchful eye on his target while remaining as silent as a mouse. However, not long into his pursuit he feels the familiar tingle of being watched. Instantly, he drops back into the shadows, his Obsidian Order training serving him well. Garak sweeps the room with his eyes, trying to locate his pursuer, but can see nothing.

Not wanting to lose pace with his own target, ooba decides to take a calculated risk. He darts between two covered areas, adrenaline making his every muscle pound. He knows, instantly, that he has made the wrong decision, as the phaser beam streaks out from the darkness and strikes him in the head.

The most eventful day on the station so far begins with a bang as Timeater accuses Light-kun of being Dukat, the former head of the Occupation of Bajor and the least popular person in the sector. Light-kun's face is that of an innocent Bajoran, and he starts to protest. "You're clearly mistaken," he drawls, "My name is Anjohl Tennan, I am but a simple farmer from Relliketh!"

However, as more turn on him, clearly not buying his story, he drops the charade, and surpisingly considering his dire situation, a sneer breaks out across his face. "All right then, so it is me! But it doesn't matter what you think you can do to me, for I am a changed man. I walk with the love of the Pah-Wraiths by my shoulder. I have power you cannot possibly comprehend!"

Quickly, the rest of the crew pin him and set up the noose. Light-kun is laughing, but an instant later he is roaring, his Bajoran appearance not covering up his Cardassian rage. "Pah-Wraiths! Why do you not aid me? You are the true gods of Bajor, now I command you to

SAVE YOUR EMISSARY!

"

The rope is tied around his neck.

"GAAAAAARRRRRRRRGHH! ACCURSED BAJORANS! I SHOULD HAVE KILLED THEM! I SHOULD HAVE TURNED THEIR PLANET INTO A GRAVEYARD LIKE THE GALAXY HAS NEVER SEEN! I SHOULD HAVE KILLED THEM ALL..."

And he swings.

The Reckoning

Timeater sits at his desk, tossing his baseball up and down in his hand absent-mindedly. He is exhausted - he hasn't slept for days, not even after the threat of Dukat was finally removed. While his crew remains in trouble, Benjamin Sisko cannot rest easily.

He gets up and starts pacing his office, trying to determine a plan of action for the coming day. However his thoughts are interrupted when he hears his door open with a hiss. Timeater spins around, instantly understanding what is about to happen.

"How did you get in here?" he demands in his booming voice. His visitor doesn't bother replying.
