In post 250, TheButtonmen wrote:At the moment the rational for the age requirement on titles is that we want posters to establish themselves before we start titling them, it also provides a check for staying power of a title. If a title is good now and it won't be relevant for them in a month or two when they hit the six month mark I'm doubtful that it's a really a good title.
Thoughts?
Disagree. If they've established themselves enough that the general consensus is that a title is worthwhile for them, then they're established, whether they've been here for 2 months or 5 years.
Relevancy of a title is always an issue. We have plenty of people with titles that don't relate to anything relevant anymore. Wikid, Professor Paragon, even my title. Reck's still resonates, but even it says GD when his thread is in F62.
In other words: there's no need for the requirement because it's OTHER people nominating players. If we had a bunch of people who had been here 3 weeks coming in and nominating themselves, then a rule might be worth it. But there's really no need for an artificial requirement now.

Stranger Danger is leaps and bounds better than just Stranger. I would not be in favor of him just being "Stranger" as that'll be inscrutable in a year or two from now.

I like EGOT, but I don't like Egotistical. While Vi clearly likes his shiny things (and let's be honest, most of us do), I don't think he's particularly egotistical.

You really think that winning Best Mafia Discussion/Wiki poster and Paragon of Scumhunters is our equivalent of an EGOT?
I'd argue that winning Paragon, Don Corleone and Third Party is ours. Not that there's anything wrong with the Professor award; just that in the pantheon of individual awards, it's not super high up there.
In post 381, Oversoul wrote:TBM, too quick though? The suggestion wasn't even 12 hours old.
Enough discussion to reach a consensus on one or two variations of a title, five scummers supporting it and my approval are the only requirements for a title, time isn't a factor at all.
Awesome. Thanks for the swiftness of your judgment and action, fairy.

it's basically just a clip from every reality tv show ever (including Survivor for what it's worth) where someone inevitably says, "I'm not here to make friends."

puns are often made out of homonyms.
Wikipedia wrote:The pun, also called paronomasia, is a form of word play which suggests two or more meanings, by exploiting multiple meanings of words, or of similar-sounding words, for an intended humorous or rhetorical effect.[1][2] These ambiguities can arise from the intentional use and abuse of
homophonic
, homographic, metonymic, or metaphorical language.
Which side do you really want to take? Shakespeare's pun-filled awesomeness or Samuel Johnson's dour dictionary writing? (Johnson is the one that said, "puns are the lowest form of humour.")

This is a greatly superior method to the prior one. Speed titling is perfectly fine. And if you really think of a better one, we now have a title fairy that will change old titles. Perfection is the enemy of good.
ani is mostly right here, and you guys are being ridiculous.

These are Happy Tears makes a reference to his avatar but isn't ABOUT his avatar. Sure, it makes the joke work a little better, but the overall purpose behind it is still served if he changes his avatar.

other than a play on adorable, is there a reason for this? Brandi got Awwtist because she frequently posts cute things and draws cute things. I never really got that that was noraaa's "thing" so to speak.

no, but the fact that he resisted a title as the title fairy will be forever, much like him being a hardass about things is pretty tied into him being the title fairy.

he won't. this is one of the reasons he's a great title fairy: he'll just pick one and go without necessarily getting 100% consent. But he wants admins to give him one for whatever reason, and admins won't step in if there's division.
for TBM, as well as various incarnations of the Fairy meme which aren't really gaining a whole lot of traction IMO.
The spelling thing is pretty compelling to me, but I'll let TBM veto it if he wants. Will probably make a decision after the weekend if no other strong contenders come forward. Keep talking!
The spelling thing has to be the lamest idea we've had. Even lamer than the "buttonmen is plural" thing. TBM is not a particularly bad speller, and even if he is, that's hardly noteworthy.

It's a little weird since the title basically relies on the fact that another suggested title for him had the worst "ass" in it and its weird to base a title on another title, but it seems good enough.

truthfully, i kind of feel like the title fairy of the day should always have the title of Title Fairy until he or she steps down just so people don't spend their thinking power just trying to get the Title Fairy a title. Also, descriptive.

well it works because it's a title and he's the title fairy. he doesn't get a colored name. Anyway, the point is to stop endless discussion about it, not to maintain some sort of consistency.

adrnin a
much
better title, but it's just not a good idea. I don't think Charnber is funny at all and it only slightly relates to the thing. Also, it kinda look like a pokemon name.
although I wonder if either look silly if it's not bolded. The r and n move farther apart, no?
