That's not true. There was a time in the Beta when people actually played the game, and there was only like 6 roles (I think it was Vanilla Townie, Mafia Goon, Doctor, Cop, Serial Killer, Mafia Roleblocker) and the entire site was just Imagine a Setup, Make and Name a room, and play the game with no timer attached. The last time I was on EM, the site had devolved into a game of odds. e.g: If we have this setup, optimal play is X (involving role claims and role actions and stuff) eventually culminating in a lynch being chosen by the 1 person who claimed seemingly at random. Days went by in a minute or less. Very silly.

But yeah, don't ignore that EM was at one point a good place to play Mafia and contained some very smart players and games.

In played with you back then. And red coyote and imaginality. It had its own huge frustrations like a suicide rate in the 20s or 39s that would disable the game.

Not to mention living on his own like a hermit. Ted Kaczynski kind of lost his humor, too.

I know right. If the Jedi were such a huge thing just 30 years ago, and there was like a Jedi council and shit, why would people call it a "sad, old religion" or whatever. "your sorcerer's ways don't scare me" says whats his face, right before he gets FUCKING CHOKED OUT

Also, why does the Emperor never ever use a lightsaber? Is it ever even hinted at that he's a Jedi or Sith at all in the original trilogy?

wikipedia wrote:The first use of the word "Sith" was in the novelization of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, as a title for Darth Vader, the "Dark Lord of the Sith". The Sith were not formally introduced or mentioned on-screen until the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, in 1999, though they had been named in some Expanded Universe works before that time.

Yeah, that's my point. In the original series, the Force was seen as superstition by people that couldn't use it.

In the prequels, it's scientifically provable. It's like if someone were to look at you and say, "DNA?! HAH! That shit's voodoo, there's no way you can tell whose blood that is." And then you choke that person with your mind.

I mean, to be fair, in the original trilogy, it's stated that Darth Vader killed off all of the Jedi. (other than Obi-Wan and Yoda, who were in hiding)

But don't even start me on THAT, because in the prequel it's made pretty clear that Anakin only spent like the better part of a fucking weekend killing every Jedi. I had always pictured Darth Vader turning to the Dark Side and systematically hunting them down, one by one, murdering them, putting them through mock trials, that sort of thing.

But nope, he just shows up at the Jedi school and kills them all at once.

Well, a bunch of them had already been killed by other machinations (Order 66). Vader just did the mop up, which is somehow even more embarrassing.
