A lot of my favorite members originally played at EpicMafia. Admittedly some of the worst members did as well. I'd be happy to see new faces. Many will certainly have a period of adjustment as the playstyle, meta, etc. is much different here and some will not stay because of that. But I hope many will.

Oh I'm sure. We always get a trickle of players who come on and whine about how slow the games are and how we should play differently. Eventually they either acclimatize or leave.

That said, Newbie games are actually some of the slowest on the site. Many still have 3 week deadlines whereas 2 weeks is more standard across the rest of the site. If you want a fast pace, I'd suggest either Large Games (because there are more people posting, it seems far more active) or Micros (because they tend to have shorter deadlines and people play faster). Certain Open games are also options. Still, you're looking at games that'll last in the weeks to months rather than games lasting minutes.

I replaced someone in a newbie game which was nice because i got to join after RVS but I am still feeling like it is slow.
I just need to find something else to help occupy my time. Forum mafia is better than no mafia, and even if EM does come back (there's still a chance because I think the owner might just get harassed enough) I'll probably still stick around. Seems to be a good crowd and less if any trolling which is really nice :D

Please do not discuss ongoing games outside of the game itself. This is an essential rule on Mafiascum given the pace of games.

At some point you guys are going to have to become comfortable with the fact that this is indeed a forum and not epic mafia. On the plus side is that means the forums function way better then EM's did.

I don't think a chat room is particularly high on the list of the coders.

Generally speaking, yes. Although it's a pretty slow growth over time and might be better characterized as "steady," and I don't have the data to tell whether we've recovered, userbase-wise, from the 2012 crash. It's a fact that games are not at the high point they were then.

I don't think the people of EM are stupid at all, but their play style is basically designed for the system. It could have changed in the time since I've been there, but EM was centered around optimal play for a setup first and discussion second. A very "If X then Y" kind of thing that's reinforced over multiple plays of the same setup. That still left room for some deviation, but it was usually limited to certain situations. To those used to spending more time trying to find scum through lengthy discussion rather than actions, that can often come across as haphazard, when I don't really believe that's the case. It was just different because that's what the system rewarded.

In played with you back then. And red coyote and imaginality. It had its own huge frustrations like a suicide rate in the 20s or 39s that would disable the game.

wikipedia wrote:The first use of the word "Sith" was in the novelization of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, as a title for Darth Vader, the "Dark Lord of the Sith". The Sith were not formally introduced or mentioned on-screen until the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, in 1999, though they had been named in some Expanded Universe works before that time.
