Okay, so nobody sleeps on n1 or n2 and everyone sleeps on n3. That's better, because anyone staying up for every night would be forced to sleep through d4, making it really obvious who did a scumkill.

Abner came up to me as people began their discussions. "You are getting all this down, right?"

"Um, what?"

"You're here to record this expedition's happenings," he reminded me. "These chain of events may not have been...expected, but nonetheless they should still be taken down."

I stared at him. "How can you still think of things like that?"

"It's not just that," Abner added. "You're also a scribe. People trust your word. So as long as you go around and record what people do, we'll have an official record to bring back to the Guild when all this is over."

"How do you know I'm not a murderer?" I asked.

"Because you're not a sorcerer. You're the only person here that I truly trust." With that, he patted my shoulder and left me to my thoughts.

What he said did make sense. I was still having a hard time dealing with the probability of treachery, especially since our lives were now at stake.
So do your work, Santas, and take your mind off such dark and gloomy prospects.

I nodded my head to myself. Taking my official scribe's writing book and charcoal pencil out of their leather sack, I went in the midst of the group to catch some conversation.

Aye, but is preventing one kill worth the chance of messing up our lynch due to the chance of randomness?

I was thinking everyone sleeps at night so that, even in the even of a scum kill, there's a chance we catch scum who have their vote screwed up. But that's also a small chance, so it might not be worth losing town night actions.

We wouldn't be able to screw up a lynch if we're careful. Even if the hammer vote gets randomized, it wouldn't hammer someone else unless that person was at L-1.
Although it would make kind of a sticky situation in lylo if two people are at L-1 (I'm thinking 3p lylo here). But there's a benefit in that scum wouldn't be able to safely quickhammer.

Seems risky.

I DO think that we need a sleep cycle plan, even if it doesn't necessarily catch scum. Having orderly sleep cycles will prevent stupid shit from happening, IMO.

I'd also like to discuss this with more people, since as far as I know, Nikanor doesn't comprise all 11 other players.

It wouldn't be risky at all if the days weren't so bloody short. As it is, though, being able to make a deadline lynch is important.

Execute...oh, my! Gods help us!

So. My bit on the sleep cycle discussion: we can always try to 'ping' players to see if they're sleeping, if you're afraid of deviation from a given plan.

@Mod: Do we know if a player is sleeping? I mean, I see that through the interaction of prodding/sleep cycle we'd know by the end of three days, but is there any way, save a manual "POST IF UR NOT SLEEPIN" ping, that we'd know who is currently sleeping?

During the day, there will be a list of all sleeping people. During the night, the people who are sleeping are not revealed.

I can't say that I'd follow a designated sleep cycle.

This wouldn't cover sleeping during the night phase, would it?

And why the hell wouldn't you Pitt? A designated sleep cycle will restrict scum action. Are you trying to be anti town?

Opening the thread during my (rl) sleep cycle ay...

I was under the impression that a phase = 3 rl days... no wait, that's just the actual sleeping.

I'm all for designated sleep cycles. It would help the town in the long run.

Nope. Sleep's not particularly good for me, though.
And no, sleeping during the night phase would not be subjectable to pinging; hence the need to daycheck. Unless, of course, you want scum to catch an early snooze and run rampant during the night.

I'm not particularly enamored with a softclaim of being hurt by sleep.

Having an organized sleep cycle is a great idea. It will allow us to help power roles know when to target who. Also, I think, if we have certain people sleep at certain nights, we can systematically rule can and cannot be mafia, or at least somewhat.

Ehhh.....I distrust idea.
Propose idea as simple as: Item->Targeted player cannot sleep during the next cycle.

It's not an overly complicated item idea, and I'm liable to think that there could be any sort of trinkets in play that interact with the sleep cycle. It still has merit, but probably less so than a mass hibernation proposal.

I considered this, but given the mafia would assumably be a team, you wouldn't get any conclusive data.

This, if we assume that there are 2-3 mafiosos, then we can be fairly certain that atleast one would be awake any given night cycle. not a good idea.

Wow. This game is moving fast, which is good considering the deadline. The thing that stands out most to me is pittbunny not liking the sleep idea(which I agree with). I'm still not exactly sure why he disapproves of it. FoS: pittbunny. Albert, why is that scummy to you?

To be exact, I agreed with the concept of a conceptually strong organized sleep setup (obviously one with high probabilities of reducing scum damage/increasing tells), but stated that I was not likely to follow a sleep setup.

Surprisingly good amount of friction for only the second page. Momentum keep.
