Back when it existed, Best Replacement is a category which often relied heavily on newbie games (as they're most in need of replacements). Excellent Moderation is another category which can reasonably be accumulated via a sequence of Newbie games.

I'm nominating Wgeurts' Evolution Mafia for BEST SETUP.

Most mini-theme setups aren't all that ambitious--Evolution Mafia proved that even a Mini Theme can have a lot of very unique and interesting mechanics that don't overwhelm the game. Furthermore, the flavor was also spot-on for a mini-theme; it was never overwhelming and always just enough to excite me for what was around the next lynch or kill.

The flavor of a 'survival of the fittest' evolution-themed game fit incredibly well with the dynamic provided by a mafia game. The ways that roles branched and 'evolved' was interesting and provided for very thoughtful means of progressing one's own power in response to the game state. It was very exciting to receive a new role PM with an updated image and new options for further evolution. Wgeurts thought out different ways that the roles would be able to counterbalance each other, even in the case of some roles dying early or others out-evolving their counterparts. While a lot of the scum strategy was to stall due to the shorter site-meta deadline of 7 days, even culled interest in the game still couldn't keep me from wanting desperately to play and get ahead.

Alien Survivor role in Mafia Z

, where he survived being lynched or killed throughout all five days, assisted town in defeating two different scum factions, and probed the required minimum of 4 other players before the game ended! He did all of this while abiding by a post restriction which forbade him from claiming anything other than Vanilla Townie, under strict penalties which would result in his lynch threshold being lowered by up to two votes, depending on the circumstances revolving around the infraction. Truly a game well played, and definitely worth nominating for others to see. Really hope he wins this.

I've nominated RC's U-pick for flavour, for the following reasons:

All of the flavour text here was fantastic, from the flips to the role-pms. As a u-pick, roles were integrated really well with people's picks to create some super interesting roles (such as a double day rainbow, or a hoard of nearly 600 otters) which were combined into interesting facets such as an 'Intellectuals' Neighbourhood'.

The theme of 'Free Will' was consistent and coherent. Although all flips and day-starts were well written, the star of the game was the flip of Alexander Hamilton, where the flavour text was a re-written Hamilton (the musical) song, which delighted me enough that I shared it with a bunch of people outside of the game. My role-pm and flavour is also amazing, with a real knack for understanding for the nuances of the character: this happened generally with all of the picks.

Also, the game, although a little town sided, was completed before the first day should've ended: I'd second a nomination for GOTY.

submitted the form, but i wanted to make a separate post in here that i fully endorse spiffeh for paragon.

really, i could just go down the list of games i've been in w/ him:

>walking dead
>kuribo in wonderland

and his reads for the most part were amazing. in walking dead and kuribo in wonderland he was a vig and in those two games he went 3/4 in shooting scum. he's got good instincts. he's also excellent at signaling that he's town during the day and being able to rally towns to good lynches.

So are there no group awards anymore? I would like to nominate the town for my completed mini for one for winning a setup with 6 scum by lynching perfectly every day.
