I ran into a problem following your instructions on setting up the mods needed. (I'm using set 1 cause I have a few client-side mods I want as well, like optifine which is required to use my favored texture pack)

The author has updated ExtraBiomesXL to version
2.2.5
and there is no link that I can find in the mod's thread (as linked by you) to get version
2.2.3
which is the one you say we need.

Is there a way to get the version we need somewhere or can you just update the server to use the new version?

Also please add me to whitelist, as I'll join when I get the mods straightened out. My minecraft username is

Go to Start Menu>All Programs>Accessories>Run, type %appdata% into the box and hit OK. You should then be able to open your .minecraft folder from the window that will bring up.

Storage? Just a bunch of chests.
You should see my house on another server that I've been on since I first got Minecraft in March. I have a floor of nothing but chests, probably about 30 double-chests and they're all completely full.

Also @Maru: More people would be fine as long as we continue the whitelist system and don't just make it completely open to public access

Yes. 100% yes.

It doesn't require anything special, we'd just drop in the mod and go.

It's one requirement, modloader, we already have cause it's built in to Forge.

Portal overlap is very annoying..

Maru's modded server, when I go through the Nether-side of my portal, I re-enter the main world through a different portal instead of my own, into someone's house.

The annoying part is I died on the way back to my own house (lack of food + skeleton) and lost a full set of Adamantine tools and armor...

Dungeons one sounds great to me, though we'd need a new world to use it properly given how much we've already explored.

The other 2.. I don't use minecarts or redstone very often so they wouldn't do much for me.

Yeah, the main thing I use redstone for will be obsolete when 1.3 comes out in a couple weeks due to the enchanting changes.

Client mods are allowed, so long as they don't give you an unfair advantage (xray, fly, etc). OptiFine is strongly recommended, it makes everything much smoother, especially in multiplayer. Inventory Tweaks, Rei's Minimap, and StatusEffectHUD are all fine.

And when you have no idea how it works. I managed to avoid dying to the mobs, but apparently if the invasion succeeds and they kill the nexus everyone currently on the server dies. this cost me 50 levels. And I had to drain my xp tank for the levels to fix my armor.

So the portals are up and we're supposed to be able to use them. But access seems to be one way at the moment.

Players that started on Ancient can cross to Apoc without error, though the inventory transfer is still wonky.

However it does not yet work in the other direction. Both myself and wgeurts are getting "you are not white-listed on this server" when we try to use the portal. I also get this error if I try to join Ancient directly from the server list.

I shouldn't need more than 4 or 5 codes at most. How about we sub-divide? I'll take orange/orange/X and you can have the rest?

This would allow me to keep the system I'm used to and you to have your usual color.

Yeah I like it. And some of the designs were inspired by suggestions I made. The idea started when he re-skinned leather armor to look like a straitjacket for a server we are both on, called Asylum

Well I give up...

I was already so far behind it's depressing. Then I lost half the progress I HAVE made to a skeleton shooting me into lava.

So I quit. Anyone is welcome to whatever you might want of what I had. My base is at x -860 z 515

Note this does NOT mean I'm quitting MC entirely. I'll still be around on SP5 and Vanilla.

There is no stuff to save, is the problem. The server lagged as I died and the lava burned my stuff before the game recognized I was dead and created the gravestone.

I suppose we could try clearing the lava and see if my stuff IS in the gravestone, but it's at least 12 blocks deep and I have nowhere near enough gravel/sand for such a task.

Yeah it's the lava pool out behind my house, where I have a partially constructed nether portal.

Oh and my flowers wilted. That is so annoying we can't turn that off anymore

This is why on Vanilla servers I keep valuable stuff (iron/gold/diamonds/emeralds) in an Ender chest once I can craft them.

This is now 100% official. I'm not going to spend the time it would take farming very low chance drops for what I need to progress.

If anything I do have is useful to anyone, you're welcome to it.

I'm not talking about what you think I am...

The drop I'm referring to is one of the things you get off the wild grass. It's not guaranteed to drop anything in the first place, and even if it does getting the specific drop I need is like 1 in 6. And I need 2 stacks of said drop.

Re: SP5

After watching Gabe show off the network on stream tonight, I finally got around to building an Enhanced Portal.

After looking over the list on the blog, I've chosen
glowstone
as my code starter. The UID for the portal at my current base is glowstone/glowstone/diamond

It's set to public so anyone should be able to link to it through yours.

Edit: I've added my code to the one at spawn.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone on
SP5
could go to my area and take down the chunk loader, it's in the corner by my botania stuff. Just stick it in the chest that's right there.

Yeah I'm fine, my computer isn't.

We experienced a partial power outage (commonly known as "brownouts" - the lights worked, partially, but nothing else) and the surge when it happened fried something.

If I'm lucky and it's only the power supply, I can replace that next month. If it killed the motherboard/processor, that will take most of a year to save up for replacing.

The older computer I'm on now can't run modded 1.7 properly (I can't give Java enough memory)

So I opened the case, and found out my problem was unrelated to the power outage. One of the power connectors to the motherboard had come loose.

And it's back up and running without problem. I should be on later.

You've got about 90 mods in there, though, and Forge for 1.9 isn't 100% stable or optimized yet. Resource packs are adding another layer of stuff on top of stuff to a game of stuff that's not used to having as much stuff in it as you're putting in it. I use a minimum of 2 GB with mods.
I've required 2 GB minimum with mods since 1.5

It would be possible to make a 1.7.10 pack which would essentially be upgraded SP5 with selected additional mods (or requested new ones) in a week or so. If a lot of people want to be on 1.10 then getting a set of mods that work well together might take up to 2-3 weeks. If you don't mind playing for a few weeks and then switching to what we ultimately want that's an option too. And another option to fill a few weeks might be to run the server on an already existing well-known pack that enough folks can agree on. I don't think we can please everyone, but I also think it's important to have a good player base because a hopping server is a fun server.

Bottom line is, I'm volunteering to get something going but I kinda need to know what you want.
I'm probably not the most mainstream Minecraft player here and I don't want your experience to be a bad one because too much is based on my playstyle. :cool:
Going to put my .02 in, though in the long run it may not matter. There's a high chance I'll have to give up video games entirely in the near future for health reasons.

Preference would be something on 1.7 for stability. It runs better than the newest versions on my system, and I
never
had issues with server lag or performance on SP5, even when there were a dozen of us in the same area at once during the hospital build project. Also is before 1.9 and later nerfed combat into the ground.

If we decide to go with the newer versions, then I'd say 1.10 to have the latest changes to vanilla and be on the cutting edge of new mod development. Though the current 1.9.4 pack was good before whatever caused the current state of being almost unable to do anything. (For example: last time I was on I had to mine a block - yes one single block -
FIFTY
times for the server to recognize I broke it. Guess what this did to my pick?)

I can confirm this is now working as intended. I am on the server now, first log in. I was able to open the door to enter the house at spawn after logging on, and interact with the chests.

That config file is causing it to crash with an ID conflict during startup. To get it to work again I had to delete the config folder entirely and let it generate the default configs.

Edit: And that triggers the "fatally missing blocks" error upon trying to join the server. Ugh.

Running with the default configs gives me the "fatally missing blocks" error when trying to join server. This includes when I tried to join using the configs that were working when I was on the server last night.

Using the config file you provide causes crash during startup. Log linked in my last post.

Unfortunately the computer I'm stuck using right now can't handle modern modded which is why I've been silent for so long. I would be interested in a new vanilla server though..
