I've had some issues with resource packs for 1.9.4. I tried pumpkin patch.

It's not as memory intense as some packs in the past, but Charlie's instance kept hanging during "baking" until I bumped him to 2gb. It was clearly thrashing garbage collection.
Don't know if resource packs take more memory than standard.

They do but mc should be able to run even with mods with just 1 GB, especially if the world is being loaded server-side.

You've got about 90 mods in there, though, and Forge for 1.9 isn't 100% stable or optimized yet. Resource packs are adding another layer of stuff on top of stuff to a game of stuff that's not used to having as much stuff in it as you're putting in it. I use a minimum of 2 GB with mods.

Yep, this is basically the reason right now. I'm not even messing with resource packs until later. It didn't work out too well so I gave up lol

I'm up to 3.5 now for the max, but I was trying to be gentle to the folk who don't have the hardware for that.
BTW that extra half gig shaved about 2 minutes off the MC startup time. Bumping Charlie from 1.5 to 2 took off at least 5 minutes. Apparently the loader is a memory hog.

My system only has 8 total, I have 2 as minimum and 4 max

My convoluted (but effective!) Botania setup. I have TONS of charcoal so anyone is welcome to as much as they want from that chest. The system continually makes far more than I can use right now.

Neat! I want to start Botania myself, but I'm currently gated by a lack of bonemeal to grow flowers Maybe this weekend I'll have the time to do some proper caving, or make a mobfarm.
