i'm talking about YOU because I want YOU to help me think of a way to encode the king's name/user information in such a way that the assassin can not figure him out while we can use each part to figure out the assassin.

tho strictly speaking this should be impossible.

While a good idea since we don't know who the assassin is or who the other guards are the code can't be effectively communicated to the other guards and even if it could how can we stop the assassin from helping come up with the code?

The code tactic sounds interesting... trying to think right now about either a way to do it or a proof that it can't be done.

I have proof it can't be done COMPLETELY i think, however there are ways to do it incompletely that give us marginal odds. Though these odds may not be favorable for the town, I'm trying to think of way to have it so that it is favorable to the town.

And let's say you can encode it. How do you suggest we communicate it through the thread?

I've already breadcrumbed the King's name in one of my posts, BTW (in a complicated enough way that you can't find it). I doubt it will do any good, though... to use the information the town will have to know these things, and if the town knows then the assassin knows.

On second thought, my random suggestion has lower odds than I thought.

this is true, our marginal odds probably will not at any point compensate us for the information loss to the assassin.

So what should we do? All of this has amounted to talking a lot about doing something that isn't viable.

I don't like Pooky's plan. It sounds like he's trying to get us to give up the king's name.

I guess play normally would be our best option.

You could argue codes are against the spirit of the setup, but OTOH it's for the community to know whether it's breakable that way.
