Pain. Such a simple concept, really. The nerve sensor is stimulated. The nerve sensor sends a message to the brain that it has "pain". Pain is the interpretation of the message. Pain is the thing that inspires trial-and-error. If there is no punishment for the error, the error will be repeated. Therefore, pain is evolution's way to make sure that errors aren't repeated.

Pain is the weakness of every creature. Pain can cripple someone, pain can defeat someone, pain can make someone do whatever the cause of the pain wants him to do.

The throne didn't do anything to Skruffs. Or, well, not physically. Instead, it simply stimulated the respective nerve sensors. An odd sensation. Blistering heat, icy cold, ear-shattering sound, visions of colours unimaginable, but most importantly, impossible pain.

Nothing happened on the outside. But on the inside, Skruffs was enduring unimaginable sensations, and not of the good kind.

Until, eventually, his brain simply shut down.

Skruffs, Frozenstein, Prime Evil Aligned

died because of an overdose of pain.

The Corpulents quickly move in to devour his undamaged corpse. But as the first one touches him, Skruffs's body suddenly explodes, killing the unfortunate Corpulent and splattering everyone else in the room with guts and blood.
