Mini 404: Diablo Mafia (Game Over)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Feb 01, 2007 9:48 am

Post by Zindaras »

As the Sin War plodded along through the centuries, many in Hell began to wonder just what it was they were fighting over. The Lesser Evils of Hell were growing tired of the endless ebb and flow in the tides of mortal favour, as well as those in the elaborate schemes of the three Prime Evils - Diablo, Baal and Mephisto. The Lesser Evils longed to return to the epic days of the Great Conflict, and lay siege again to the gates of the High Heavens.

The Lesser Evils have stayed in the background for long, planning their revolution. The time is now at hand for them to take over. They have locked themselves into Diablo's Inner Sanctum, together with minions, loyal to Diablo and his brothers. It is your task to root them out.

Important Note
: Because everyone's evil in this game, there is no Town Aligned or Mafia Aligned. The Town in this game are Prime Evil Aligned and the Mafia is Lesser Evil Aligned. There may or may not be other alignments.

No one. Killed Night Four.

Rules, as stolen from petroleumjelly, with some slight alterations:

Rules On what is Allowable:

[01] This is only a game, and I expect everyone to remain somewhat civil (although I understand you are essentially a crazy, lynching mob). I will not accept excessive abuse upon freedom of speech: obscenity, profanity, libel, and fighting words will not be tolerated, and if you push it, I reserve the right to have you replaced. In other words, be respectful to all players, as well as the mods.
[02] Do not talk outside of this thread, unless your role PM explicitly says you may do so, and even then, you are restricted to night-time for all out-of-thread conversation.
[03] Do not edit or delete your posts in any way, shape, or form. Once you have posted something, it is there for good, unless I find reason to alter or delete your post myself.
[04] Do not quote your role PMs in any way, shape, or form.
This also applies to night conversations
. You may, however, paraphrase your PM at any time, but if you go too far, I reserve the right to either replace you or to modkill you should the situation warrant.
[05] Do not post in invisible text, excessively small text, or use [ color = black ] tags.
[06] You may request mod-prods, replacements, clarifications, and votecounts from me directly in the thread, but please precede such with a bolded
Mod: So-and-so
so that I will be able to answer you as promptly as possible.
[07] Once I have officially posted that you are dead, then you are dead. Do not post any relevant information to the game whatsoever. You are, however, allowed a typical “Bah!” post of some sort.
[08] You may talk during twilight about anything you wish.
[09] Do not question my decisions in-thread: if you have a problem with me, take it to Private Messages. You may, of course, post problems you see with my votecounts, but that’s about as far as I’ll allow things.
[10] You are allowed to have fun, and in fact, I heartily encourage it! This is a game! Play hard, play fair, and enjoy yourself.

Technical Rules

[01] Each day the town must decide on a lynch. Once a majority has been reached on a player, that player will be lynched, regardless of any subsequent unvoting.
[02] To vote for somebody, please use bold tags. For example,
Vote: Zindaras
.
[03] If you wish to unvote, I would appreciate a formal bold
Unvote: Zindaras
, although this will not be required.
[04] If the game lags, I will place a deadline, which may or may not be retractable. I will probably not let any day go past two real time months, excepting for if Mafia Scum crashes...
again.

[05] When a deadline has been placed, I will require only a majority of what would normally be a majority for a lynch (i.e. 20 players needs 11 to lynch, so I would require 6 to lynch in such a scenario). If this number is not reached, day will end in no-lynch, and the game will progress directly into night.
[06] If two or more players are tied for the most votes when a deadline hits, and they have garnered the required amount of votes to be lynched under a deadline, the player who reached that number of votes first shall be lynched.
[07] You may vote no lynch if you wish. A majority voting for no lynch will end the day, and the game will progress directly into night. To do this, simply
Vote: No Lynch
.
[08] Nights will last a maximum of 5 real-time days. If you have not sent me a night-choice by that time (should you have one), you will have a random night action.
[09] If you feel that you may not be able to post in-thread for a period of 72 hours or longer, please say so in-thread and send me a PM as warning. If I find it necessary, I will have you replaced, but I would much rather keep all players who sign up for any of my games.
[10] Any and all of these rules are subject to change at my discretion.

The win condition for Prime Evil Aligned players is as follows:
You win when all threats to the Prime Evils are annihilated, and at least one Prime Evil Aligned player remains.
The Central Scrutinizer still hasn't confirmed, but I'd hate to have you guys wait even longer for just one confirmation.

You all assemble in Diablo’s inner sanctum. In the center of the sanctum stands a throne. The throne is decorated by gems and bones and skulls. Surrounding the throne are Mephisto’s Zakarum shamans, Wyand Voidbringer, Bremm Sparkfist and Maffer Dragonhand. They’re chanting in an unintelligible language. A voice is heard from the shadows.

“Welcome, evil. Welcome to Diablo’s sanctum. Here, you will determine who will rule Hell. Among you are people, or monsters, who wish to take over hell for their own devious agenda. Your goal is to find them, and kill them. To help you in this task, Mephisto’s Zakarum are imbuing that throne over there with an enchantment. It will kill anyone and anything that sits on it, in a most gruesome and needlessly painful process. ”

As the voice stops speaking, the chanting of the three Zakarum Priests becomes louder, until it drowns out all other noise in the room. Their voices rise to a freakish pitch. They move their hands towards the throne. As they touch the throne, a bright flash of light is seen, one yellow, one red, one blue, and they fall down, dead, their very life imbued into the magical throne.

It is now
Day One
. With
12
living players, it is
7 to lynch
.

Scotty is still a little newbie... he claimed a crazy role in a vanilla game just to get heat off his back when he was town... so I am very hesitant about voting him now.

I'm going to confirm and
vote: chaotic_diablo
because I like bandwagons.

Let's do this Pooky The Magical Bear™ style!

ScotScum12 and Cogito Ergo Scum are obviously buddies. So is DoScum. And KaleidoScum. And Scum the Dragons. And The Central Scum didn't even confirm. Don't even get me started on TheScumMachine. Remusscum didn't even bother to post, lurking perhaps? Neither did Fruscum. Chaotic_Scum is advocating his own lynch. Pata is the only other town here (besides me).

How? His explanation is technically true, so his logic can't be crap. I feel that you're just trying to grasp straws and see which bandwagon will stick.

I was mostly kidding, but your quickness to jump to his defense has been noted.

Also, scotmany: what if someone told you to vote for yourself? Would you have done it?

Mostly kidding? You placed a fos, which means you intentionally want suspicion on a particular person, and tried to refute the opposing argument. That doesn't look like a joke to me. I think you're backtracking.

fos TheJiveMachine

Tell me, is accusing someone of craplogic a defense for another person? Absolutely not. I simply told you that you're counterargument was crap, not you're accusation.

Of course my counterargument was crap. That's the part that was a joke. A real counterargument is the one I'll offer now:

It was fairly obvious who was going to give scotmany this 'random' number to vote, Cogito was the only other one to post before him and was still in the thread. Just seemed like an awfully non random way to random vote, letting someone else pick your votee. I'm not saying this is definitive, nowhere close, just examining every possibility.

That's an extremely bad excuse to give crap reasoning: "My argument is so bad, that it's a joke!"
