Mini 416 - AM Mafia - Game Over D:

Post Post #0 (isolation #0) » Wed Mar 14, 2007 5:16 pm

Post by Skruffs »

Early Morning Mafia

Moderator: Skruffs
The game is now over. and ended on Post 634.

Today is an ordinary day in an ordinary man's life. Joe Zmęczony's life, that is.
This particular day is a Wednesday. However, it is pretty much like every other day in Joe's work week. Eight hours on the job, dinner, and then to sleep. However, Joe's not at work yet. Joe is still in bed. That is because it is 6AM. It's time for Joe to wake up. This is where you come in. Joe has 'helpers'. Helpers who want Joe to wake up. YOU are one of those helpers.

What kind of helpers? You've probably had them around you all your life, and never really realized it.. Small, annoying things that you wish you didn't have to deal with when you are cozy in la-la land. But they're there, and they are real.
You
have the honor... the
priviledge
... of being one of those annoying items.
Note : Annoyances are not actually limited to tangible 'items'.

Annoyances 6/12

RULES AND ROLES (as stolen from Brizzy Boi and slightly altered)

Rules

1.) This game is a day start. People who can speak to each other during the night may do so until day starts.
2.) During the day you can vote for a player that you think should be lynched. Votes must be in the form
Vote: Player
otherwise they won't be counted. It is not necessary for players to unvote before switching their votes, but it DOES earn brownie points.
3.) When a player reaches a majority of votes, they are lynched. I will reveal their role, and the game will move into night. Players can still talk during twilight.
4.) If discussion is lagging or the day is dragging, I may set a deadline. If there is a tie at deadline, the most recent votes will be removed, until there is a majority.
5.) No talking to other players, dead or alive, outside of the thread, unless your role permits it.
6.) Once dead, you stop posting. A gah post is fine though.
7.) If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
8.) Try to post at least once every 48 hours. Treat the game as a committment. If you go inactive, you will be replaced.
9.) I'll post votecounts every 24 hours if necessary. Feel free to ask for a votecount at any time. This being my first time modding, I may make mistakes. Point them out at your whim.
10.) Avoid excessive profanity, flaming etc.
11.) Have fun!
12.) Instead of "Town or Mafia" alignments, players have "Work or Sleep" alignments. They may also be other alignments in play. For the purposes of this game, Work = Good, Sleep = Bad.

PARTIAL REVEAL OF A TOWN ROLE

You are (Flavor text).

You win when all threats to Joe going to work have been eliminated.

Dwoop! Dwoop! Dwoop!
*Crash! Clatter! Spill!*

"For all the love of..." Joe scrunched up his eyes at the sound outside. Sitting up in bed, he glared through the window. Outside, accross the street, the garbage men had skimmed over a row of cans, their contents strewn and ripped accross the sidewalk. They shouted to each other as they tossed the bags intot he machine. The truck idled and chugged, and it was overall, a very, very annoying thing. But not for long.
LE SLAM!

Outside Noises, Townie
, has been deactivated.

Joe peered out through the freshly closed window, the sounds of the ruckus outside muted almost completely out. It was a good thing.
Joe went back to bed... and in less than a minute, was asleep.

It is now
6:00 AM
, and Day One starts
Now
.

With 12 alive, it takes
7
to lynch.

Joe lay in his bed, asleep, and dead to the world. Well, almost. Everything aroudn him whispered quietly. Fervently. Allegations, suspicions. Joe's brow furrowed in his sleep, as his uncnocious mind picked up on the thoughts of those things around him. Things he trusts.

The whispers continued, hidden behind the reality that Joe thought he knew so wel. They reached a crescendo. Almost as if in reponse to the growing tension, a small plastic thing by Joe's bed began to blink with a sudden blue light.

And then he heard This. (mpg)

"Oooooh, Gawwwwwwwwd..." Normally... Joe would stumble across the room (usually kicking something or another as he went), and answer that stupid phone. But today, for some reason, he didn't want to. This morning, for some reason, he didn't care. He rolled over, hid his head under his arm and tried to go back to sleep. THe phone call that might have been able to change his entire day... went unanswered.

“After six years of round-the-clock work to move our union forward, the chance for a little sleep and a rest from my cell phone maybe aren't so bad.” ~ Roger Toussaint

Massive_Goonery, Cell Phone, One-Shot Vig (Pro-Work)

“The nurse sleeps sweetly, hired to watch the sick, / Whom, snoring, she disturbs.” ~ William Cowper

IT's nearly 6:10, and Joe is still asleep in bed. Joe! Why are you still in bed??
"Zzzzz, " Joe replies. Say again, Joe? Why are you in bed?
"SNXXRXXXX!"
Joe... is snoring. YAY! Look! The snoring is starting to wake him up!
Joe opens his eyes, ceasing in his snoring. Ugh, he should get out ofbed, but he just doesn't want to. Why was he snoring, anyways? Something told him it has SOMETHING to do with that intermittent stream of cold air drying out his mouth. That stupid oscillating fan! He reached over and pressed abutton, and sadly, the fan turned off. He turned over, smacked his lips a few times, and went
back to sleep. Not to snore, anymore.

(Note: flavor aside, thte fan and snoring were not connected. IT just works this way to describe it as such)

Nai, Oscillating Fan, Townie
, has been dealt with.
IH, Joe's Loud Snores, Townie
, has been dealt with.

It is now quieter in the room, and it is also day two. With Nine alive, it will take Five to lynch. Good luck!

Outside Joe's bedroom window, a hummingbird lands at it's feeder and begins to sing. It's a beautiful sound, but Joe doesn't hear it, because he closed the window.

If I remember correctly nobody was close to being lynched.
Welcome back, everyone.
I'd like evryone to check in with a "Here-here" on the thread before any votes get shifted. The old vote count - only a few hours worth - is lost, but nobody was exceptionally close to lynching.

Joe drowsed in his bed, as the small things and big things and non-things around and inside him and everywhere else conspired to wake him up or let him sleep. The discussions get more heated, until finally a decision is made. TheStatusQuo is decided upon to be the one to face Joe's wrath. And so, with a heavy heart...

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Oooooh, Gawwwwwwwwd..." Joe didn't know what time it was, and he didn't care. It was definitely not the time to be listening to that crap. He slams his hand down, stopping the noise. Joe rolls back over, and goes to sleep.

TheStatusQuo has been lynched. However, he is not dead.

"Unngh, Joe, isn't it time to go to work?"

Joe woke up, hazily, but kept his eyes closed.

"Joe... you're using up all the blankets." A sharp elbow pressed into his soft spot, just below his ribs, nad began to gouge in.

"Nnnnf." he replied.

THe elbow pushed in further, and Joe took preventative measures. Feet curl up and position themselves on hisevil gigrlfriend's back.

"You wouldn't dar-" THUD! Out of the bed she goes.

"Why I NEVER!" She gathered up her clothing, and stormed out of the house, huffing. SHe just wanted her boyfriend to take off the day and devote it to her.

"Mmmph, " Joe replies. Poor Joe. He's sleeping happily. Surely, after all that's happened, Joe will finally be able to sleep in, right?

Wrong.

TheStatusQuo knew it was coming, but there was nothing he could do about it. Couldn't Joe see what TIME it was??? He had to get to work!! He had to- BEEP BEEP BEEP

TheStatusQuo, Alarm Clock, One-Shot Reviver, Anti-Sleep
, has been dealt with.

It is now stiller in the room, and it is also day four. With Six alive, it will take Four to lynch. Good luck!

Cpt_Fantastic, Fircoal, and Jingolaw have been prodded.
This game is most certainly not dead - just napping.
Think of it as High Suspense instead.

DEADLINE! D:
I'll give it a week or so - if things haven't improved to 6 posts/day (one per player) by then I'll start killing people myself.

It's gettin late... 7:26 AM, to be precise. If Joe is going to go to work, he has to get up, and soon.
But Joe doesn't want to get up.
Guardian knows what to do. He reaches deep down within himself, focussing all his energy. Gradually the little machine begins to warm up, the black liquid inside beecoming more fragrant. A delicious smell begins to fill the room. mmm. Rich black coffee, dark and enticing, begins to fill Joe's nose. It would almost be enough to wake him up, normally. But not quite.

Groggily, sniffling, Joe gets out of bed. The smell of coffee getting stronger as he walks towards it. Mmm. Deeeelicous. But instead of going out to the kitchen.. Joe shuts the door to his room, locking poor Guardian out and blocking him from helping wake him up.

Guardian, Coffee Maker, has been dealt with.

But that is not all that is in store for Joe. With his girlfriend gone, his pillow found, and most everything else dealt with, it is very, very easy for him to continue resting.

Soon after Joe closes his eyes, Jingolaw tries one last ditch effort to wake him up. The coffee maker, his long time companion in waking up Joe, was locked out, so this was serious. However, Jingolaw is not successful as well - the groggy Joe simply closes the shades, locking Jingolaw out as well.

Jingolaw, Beam of Sunshine, Watcher has been dealt with.

With the pro-sleep and the anti-sleep factions now evenly divided, those annoyances who wish for Joe to wake, no longer have the power.

Cog88, Kitten, Tracker is fed, and contented, curls up next to Joe and takes a nap as well.

Elias_The_Thief, Fork-in-the-bed, Hider, is found and tossed to the side. He won't be poking Joe in his sleep anymore today.

Joe sleeps in, and rests up, and wakes up around 2 in the afternoon, content and well rested. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a job and his girlfriend is pissed. Oooooh well!

Jack, Medicine, Mafia RoleBlocker and Panzerjager, Comfortable Blanket, Mafia Goon Win!

Congradulations to Mafia.
Night results and discussion coming up.
(After mafia submitted their night choice - Jingolaw, instead of Elias the Thief, who could have hidden and avoided being killed, there was no way that town could have achieved a majority. Even if they had lynched one of the mafia, the mafia would have killed successfully the next night. THat's why I didn't give towniess the chance to make night choices.

Notes about the setup.
There were no cops, and there were no doctors. However, there were weaker versions of hte same - Elias, PBuG, and TSQ were all able to avoid being killed, for different reasons. TSQ would revive once on being death, PBuG Was immune to night actions the first night he was targettd, and Elias had the ability to hide, rendering him immune to all actions that would target him.
In stead of a cop, there was a tracker and a watcher. Again, nothing definte could be proved by any of the roles involved, so scum hunting would be almost exclusively based on game play.
The game could have been over day two, if one mafia had been lynched, and the remaining mafia killed by the sk, who would then be lynched the following day - theoretically.

To be honest, I am both perplexed and understanding of Jingolaw's play. He saw PBug - and pbug alone - target Nai night one, but barely mentioned it - and helped lynch TSQ day two instead.
Why, Jingo? Why??
I'm assuming that you were afraid of being nightkilled - however, you could have helped town a lot by outing yourself for an even trade.
Cog88 - You had horrible luck in this game - I was happy when you finally targetted an unimmune player. It's unfortunate you didn't push your result harder, though.
MVP : Probably Panzerjager and Jack. The mafia didn't really get their act together until day four - at lylo - and Jack was smart not to counterclaim Panzer. If panzer had been lynched, jack would have been S-O-L the next day for not counterclaiming roleblocker.

WHat I don't understand is that I gave all of the mafia and SK safe claims - a full bladder, a nightmare, etc. I guess that got lost to the ages, but they were there. PBuG would have been doing a lot better if he had not counterclaimed flavor on MG.

I am hella confused about TSQ's play. FAking a posting restriction? :( It did help stir up discussion, and I understand the acting scummy because he can afford it, but it wound up wasting a town's lynch on him without proving anything. I think it would have been better if he had alowed himself to be nightkilled - wasting one of scum's precious kills on him, instead.

Still, it was a fun, enjoyable game, and I appreciate everyone who played and replaced in.

Poor sefer.
Jingo - I'm sorry if the gamge approached randomness - I wanted a stabilized setup, and yes, like you said - anything anyone does (role blocker / immunity) can be counter balanced by another player (tracker & watchers can get no results that does not indicate they were role blocked). The lack of doctor and cops were offset by other roles - so anyone could have claimed doctor/scum without being countered.

I think that everyone involved were perceptive about other people's plans, but there was some lack of follow through. BUt I guess I say that as someone who saw it all from the omnipotent point of view.

I got really frustrated twhen the game was no loonger considered 'norma' - the roles in volves were all from the 'normal' list of roles, and was validated by three or four people that I consider 'official opinion makers' ... but i can see how reading the game externally might lead others to think that it could be broken by flavor or role claiming.

Oh well. I really enjoyed playing, and I congradulate Panzerjager, Jack, Cpt_Fantastic, and Ripley on their success.

My apologies, Jingo, I guess I understand, now.

Well that was at an end-game situation, so, the block would have gone through first, which would have stopped him from using his hide, which would have been wasted.
I know, it's hard to figure out which would go through first. :P he wasn't being targetted that night for death so in either case he would have had no protection in further nights.
