Ok, me and PJ want to come down. Of course the big issues is cost/transportation.

I can drive, however it's a long distance and my car gets a crappy mileage, about 22 mpg. I live in California, so ya, that's gonna be expensive. It's also hard to carpool if we try to do that in a truck.

Now we can also take a plane, which would cost us $300-400 minimum round trip (not a bad price), but that's still got it's difficulties, and I'm sure there's a ton of 'hidden costs' involved (i.e. paying for them to hold my car for a week).

If there's somebody who lives on or near the west coast who is interested in a car pool, that would save a ton of money. I wouldn't mind driving the whole time if that's an issue, and if somebody can provide a car that gets better mileage than 22 mpg, that'd be awesome.

So, I hope somebody is interested and is capable of doing this with us. Me and PJ are of course more than willing to help pay for gas money.

I'm up for it if raj or inHim are up for it, because I still doubt I'll have a car next year. :(
Mapquest tells me 35 hours and 2,370 miles. :D

That reminds me, now I either need to work around summer classes as well, or simply not take any at all... Hmm...

Well, since this is in July, I can probably make it. Depends on if baby#2 cooperates or not. I'll know more in June. For now, put me down at 90%.

kristocker did the happy dance when she heard jeep was coming to Thespival. :)

Also, there's now an arrest warrant out for our mayor for violating his probation, so it's doubtful he'd be able to play any mafia, but he'd certainly be the jester if he did.

If he's convicted, I'm sure it will be. He's running again, though. The State Health Board should have a position open by this summer, too, if you don't mind the pay.

Huzzuh! Sounds like a plan. Obviously flying to California and then driving to Mississippi is
much
more efficient than flying straight to Mississippi. :)

Obviously, I mean it would be totally inefficient for Glork to
walk
over here from Mississippi just to carpool to Thespival.

Silly PJ.

I was prolly going to take a plane from California... but if you guys are going to drive, I could be in for a car-pool... (Would only be in for the 1-way trip though...)

Shoot... that's a long drive though!
Los Angeles, CA US to Jackson, MS US
Total Est. Time: 26 hours, 39 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 1842.19 miles

Either way, I am coming. And I have a +1.5 who is about 80% likely to be there.

Sweet! :D

It is a long drive, but worth it, and fun too.

I do have a truck that I can drive, but if you have another vehicle we could use, that would work much better. Do you have anything vehicles we could use? As I mentioned before, we are definitely helping pay for gas and such, and if you don't like driving, I can do most/all of it.

I don't have a vehicle, no... Could possibly hire a car, but expect it would be more cost effective to fly.

:(, I'm starting to think flying is more cost effective too.

A car could be cheaper if there were enough carpooling, but so far the only vehicle available is my truck which can't hold enough or get good enough gas mileage to make it cheaper, or hold everybody who wants to be in the pool.

And the drive would've been so fun :(.

Yeah, I'm thinking plane would probably be the best way to go as well.

And I was so looking forward to being with Alky in the middle of nowhere in a car. *sigh*

What about what about what about... hire car, drive one way, fly home?

Do either of you feel like doing the numbers on whether hiring a car for 3 days plus petrol (gas, that is) is cheaper than 3 one-way airfares? Iim supposed to be working right now, hehe.

Well, my problem is I'm in WA state, and Alky is in CA... I would have to find a way to get find Alky in addition to hiring a car to get to Mississippi and airfare. :(

Don't you need to be 25 to rent a car legally?

I is unlegal.

EDIT: Though it I'm prove
wrong
stupid, I'll be happy to crunch the numbers. I did it before.
