What's the difference? PJ mentioned he won't take people seriously if they vote all over. I'm trying to limit my votes. And the FOS was just to pressure bird1111 into contributing. Probable misuse of the FOS but that was a better explanation on the point than MBL had provided.pablito wrote:I'm starting to think less of bird1111 being scum because his reasons for voting and unvoting seem justified now that I've re-read his posts. But he's still not contributing. Therefore unvote: bird1111 but FOS: bird1111.Sup, later.-

As a person who frequently uses both FOS's and IGMEOY's in non-Kingmaker games, I could see the difference between a vote and an FOS here; it's showing how confident you are in you judgement.MrBuddyLee wrote:Pablito is definitely scum. Who else sees the slightest bit of difference between an FOS and a vote in THIS game? Only jumpy scum.
For the record, I'm thrilled with MoS's policy of not voting. No problem with it whatsoever.
That said, pablito's last comment gives me a bit of a pablito-bird scum vibe; specifically the fact that pablito is calling out bird for being lurkerish, while changing his vote to an FOS. It's enough to for avote bird.I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.-

Umm... 1 newbie question. How long are days/nights expected to take in an online mafia game? And yeah, FoSes and votes are kinda different, even though the rules of kingmaker don't specifically state so.Every possible situation in mafia is a WIFOM situation of varying complexity. Therefore, all logic is useless, so, just don't vote for yourself, and don't vote for me, and you'll be ok.-

Weeks, maybe longer.
I rarely ever FOS. The only reason I would is if I don't want to unvote who i'm voting for, but I want to draw attentio to the fact that i'd like to be voting for the other person as well. I see no reason to use FOSs in this game. When people FOS others just to show that they think the other person is acting scummy but isn't quite scummy enough to warrent a vote... I usually take that as a scum tell."It's not a logical inconsistency. B can't be correct because then C would be, but it doesn't go the other way - there's nothing wrong with C being correct. Aside from Twomz saying otherwise." --Mith-

Pablito remains an oddity for me. He was too quick to let bird1111 off the hook for what I still believe to be a weird thing to do for a townie (placing votes on two of the most visible players and later unvoting them under the premiss that they were "joke votes", almost as if he got cold feet) and their interaction afterwards doesn't help either.
On the plus side, I'm getting townie vibes from PJ and Box, and to a lesser extent from Glork. Enough so for me toUnvote: Glork.-

(shrug) The big difference for me is that if someone does one thing that looks odd, or somewhat scummy, I FOS them to point out that one thing they did is scummy. I usually only vote someone if I look back at all of their posts and come to the conclusion that based on all of their posts they're more likely then average to be scum at that point in time.Twomz wrote:Weeks, maybe longer.

Yos, I suppose my opinion on the matter may be related to my "i assume everyone is scum unless I have reason to suspect their town" attitude towards the game. I feel no remorse voting for someone who I only think is suspicious, or only because of one small argument... now... let me make this clear... I DON'T feel that way about lynching (except, in most cases, on Day 1). After 2 or 3 people have died, there should be some evidence or information to show who's more likely to be scum than others. It's at that point where I start pushing specific wagons, and (God forbid) defending people I think are town (after my first couple of games, I've tried to not defend people I think are town... and the only reason I consitently do it is to put pressure back on the person I think is scum)."It's not a logical inconsistency. B can't be correct because then C would be, but it doesn't go the other way - there's nothing wrong with C being correct. Aside from Twomz saying otherwise." --Mith-

lol kind of, i'm used to entire games taking sometime over half an hour, as opposed to half a year... and it must kind of stink to spend 14 days deliberating and end up lynching a townie...Ameliaslay wrote:

Reading a few games on the site will get you a feel for how long they are. For day one of a game this size, 3 weeks to a month is close to typical, the longest I've seen is two months for a single day. Figure that you're in for a 6 month commitment (assuming you aren't nightkilled or lynched earlier); the first Kingmaker ran for about 5 months and was 8 game days long, for an average of about two weeks a game day (plus some extra time for game nights that should go faster this time around).cardb0ardb0x wrote:

There are other sites with faster paced games. And there are occasionally games designed to go faster.I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.-

It also depends a lot on the town... if everyone lurks, then the game kinda dies and it's boring. If people actually talk, then the days seem to fly by."It's not a logical inconsistency. Glorkness, I am hurt.
If you like, those votes were joining bandwagons. Gotta do that at some point of time.
But I voted from what I read.
If I was plain bandwagon hopping, I'd have a couple other candidates as well.
I just called it OMGUS because it came quickly on the heels of me having voted for him.
Not sure I was voted by any other recipients of my vote.Your happiness is intertwined with your outlook on life.-

umm, how is that even possible on a forum game? Are you playing with like 4 people?cardb0ardb0x wrote:

Well, I still think this. Vote: bird1111cardb0ardb0x wrote:I've kind of been thinking this for a while, but was distracted by defending myself. bird1111's actions don't make a whole lot of sense to me. He seemed to be putting serious thought into voting for pablito/glork. However, once a few things happened (I attracted unwanted attention to that combo, I had voted for them both with bad logic, and bird1111 was questioned about his votes) he immediately played them off as "joke votes."
Phoebus's cavalier tone, and... well, you've read his posts, and I don't find his response convincing. I get the impression that he's either scum or a townie that doesn't care if the town wins. Vote: Phoebus.cardb0ardb0x wrote:well, what you're saying about phoebus does make sense and his votes do seem telling. however, it's possible phoebus has an explanation, or just voted for whoever looked the most obviously suspicious in their posts, so I'll FoS: phoebus until he can come up with a response.
Reading over MrBuddyLee's posts, I've found that he just tends to get to the point. What I thought was an overzealous attack from him, was, i guess, just what he does normally. If I'm FoSing or anything him at this point, i'm un-FoSing or whatever.
I also just realized that bird1111 and phoebus are both already under the king's asterisk list... that doesn't really change what I just said regarding them.-
