I think i'm finally beginning to see omg's argument in his later posts. Not because I haven't been reading them, but because he's been posting with more analysis and...um...something else good.
so, on that note,
Unvote omg_im_innocent_wtf
.

Lowell, however, is being a little ridiculous. Lurking I can handle, but bringing up other games and casting suspiscion due to them? Eh, I'm not amused.
Vote Lowell

Touche. Yeah all right, I'm here. I've pretty much been ignoring this game, probably because I've been paying too much attention to others.

The FOS was meant as a joke. I came in at the very end of a huge game and immediately cast the vote that lost the town the game. It would be fitting, I guess, if one incident gets me killed in
both
games.

I will read this post more thoroughly today (seriously, this time) and see what I make of it.

Elias_the_thief wrote:good points arafax. in addition to them, i'm willing to move to lynch becuase he's making the game stagnant, by only posting twice. FOS on omg, but for now
unvote, vote: lowell
I don't think his absence makes the game stagnant at all. In this still early stage of the game there is plenty to be got from people with a little bit of probing. I can only think of one group that would be willing to move to
lynch
this early. I, for one, would rather he were given the opportunity to talk more and give fuller posts before we try to lynch him. This bandwagon on Lowell (
four
votes for lurking?!) doesn't sit well with me at the moment. He may well be scum but I don’t know how any of you can really say he is when he hasn’t posted anything. If your votes are an attempt to get him to talk then fine but the game doesn’t rest on whether or not he posts as there are ten other people you could be looking into as well.

Vote: Elias_the_thief

I don’t think anyone should be willing to go into Night One without having at least a few
substantial
posts from everyone otherwise we’ll have no record to base our investigations on the following day and that is going to be bad for the town as a whole. Your willingness to just accept Arafax’s points without adding anything of your own and then going on to say you’re “willing to move to lynch” just seems a bit strange.

pending contribution.

I think that the four votes turned out to be the perfect amount of pressure to get some participation - apparently it worked. I don't know if I would have necessarily put the
fourth
vote on, but if it caused Lowell to rejoin us, I'm content.

Indeed, four votes does appear to have done the trick in this instance but
FOS: Bloojay
for putting on the fourth vote even though it immediately followed a vote count. I'd be very wary of putting anyone at Lynch-
n
(where n is a likely minimum amount of scum in the game) so early in Day One.

just to remind you, my vote was only the second on lowell. my vote was mainly for the purpose of pressuring lowell into contributing. it worked apparently. anyways, i'd still like to hear more from lowell than an apology for his absense. i'll wait to apply my vote till then.

No, I don't think you will, actually...

It looks like the pressure has subsided a little, but here are my thoughts anyway. I reread all the posts and have my pointin' fingers ready.

FOS Arafax

He hates lurkers. No, no, he
really
hates lurkers. Guys, in case you didn't hear me, ARAFAX HATES LURKERS!

But don't take my word for it, instead see posts 49, 60, 90, 92, 101, 112, 114, 123, or 125. I'm too lazy to copy them all here.

Arafax likes the argument that scum tend to "lurk." I like this idea in principle (namely, that scum don't want to be obvious targets), but not in practice. In my experience, scum aren't likely to be totally invisible in games. Instead, they tend to be the ones who
post regularly but say nothing
. For scum, the appeal of attacking invisible lurkers is obvious: (1) its a popularly accepted reason for attacking people, and (2) they don't tend to fight back, so there's little chance of creating a scene, and (3) it creates plausible deniability and an excuse to back down if and when that person does finally show up.

I appreciate the need to get people to talk, but I don't think that's what Arafax is doing. This seems like a much more deliberate attempt to attack those he thinks are the weakest, rather than the ones who are the most scummy.

(Granted, I could just be taking unnecessary offense to the uncharacteristically shoddy reasoning in post 114 for voting for me, or for the CONFIRM VOTE (post 119) or the CONFIRM CONFIRM VOTE (post 144) )

FOS elias

This one, I'll admit, I only stumbled upon after rereading Arafax's posts. Several times elias agrees with Arafax with little or no reason (posts 102, 116) or rushes to question his accusers (posts 131, 132). Others (grrr, I wrote the post #s down and lost them), he makes largely neutral statements just so he can be heard. Now that's what
I
call lurking. Really, my only hesistation about him is that the arafax/elias alliance is
too
tight, and a scum team would take care to keep more distance. I'll plead WIFOM on that.

That is a scum tell, yes, but it's not hypocrisy. More like flipflopping or inconsistent behaviour.

you claim i do everything several times but you only site two actual posts for each. please clarify which you mean. anyways. my vote for you in 116 was for the purpose of getting you to talk, which was a reason not stated by arafax. also, where in 131 or 132 do i question my accusers? in those posts i asked what the reasons behind omg's vote for arafax were, since he posted none.
And i guess i do tend to defend myself quickly. heck, im doing it now. but this is how i play the game. if the reasons behind a vote for me are misleadingly written or completely bogus in nature, then yes i will refute them and make sure that the information you are providing is true. if a valid point is raised, then i'll address it and give my defence.

To expand on what I just said, hypocrisy is generally speaking irrelevant. It has no bearing on the validity of the argument. Accusing someone of hypocrisy when it is irrelevent is in fact a form of Ad Hominem, the Tu Quoque(you too) form.

He's right...Just read my sig....Speaking of which, where is Colonel Kurtz?...He hasn't posted in 5 RLD's...
Mod, can we prod Col. Kurtz

I have been suspicious of Elias almost the entire game....He tends to follow leads without being blatant about it...He also votes and unvotes too much IMO...It's one of the the scummiest thing that we have going on...
FOS Elias

I'm going to keep my vote on Lowell...I'm not sure of scum yet, but I can't get over his blatant zero content posts....And I still can't get over the "villager" thing between him and omg_im_innocent_wtf

Hypocricy, inconsistency, flip-flopping, kettles of whatever color - it's all a matter of semantics. It's not what word we assign to the actions that matters, it's the actions themselves. By whatever word you use, I find the referenced behaviors suspcious if not scummy.

Eh, I guess I only listed two for each. Whatever. I felt like I saw others, but I can't find them now. Still enough for me to be suspicious. Methinks you doth protest too much.

As regards 131 and 132, my pronouns were unclear. I meant that you rushed to the defense of Arafax and question HIS accusers. It seemed strange at the time, and still does.
