Except there's the 25% spell resistance... (30% in wc3 I'm sure) So at best it's only 450dmg over 19sec... Then you factor in hp regen in that time and yeah. Probably works nice on squishy heroes that have no handy creep-killing spell or OOM.
Unless I'm still going by my old WC3 ladder logic in that the damage said is normal not factoring in hero resistance.
That speed buff they added in makes it much better though.

Also just saw 25% speed buff added for his ulti and lols.

I would be curious to see a BH axe played right now, since admittedly I'm still viewing things from my antiquated wc3 Dota perspective.

Dota 2 is already stupid enough with heroes saying stupid things when they get runes, or denying. Saying more stupid things when say blinking is just.

Plus in Dota 2 they already made skills far more obvious than they were in Dota, which actually makes me sad because subtlety is fun (although sometimes not fair but mehhhhhh).

Dota heroes can be broken if you're playing with bad pubs just because they're bad pubs. Hell you can make almost any hero seem broken against pubs.

Furi is easy to counter early on if you have the proper stuff... Especially if you're playing as a 5-man party.

OD gets countered hard by BKB but if you can't kill him before your BKB wears off then gg.

Well yeah, there are those times... but either some of your teammates were good enough to keep them from pushing, or the other team was just bad. Generally it's impossible to delay the push single-handedly with all shit teammates.

The reason why I dislike Lion as a 5 is because his CC gets soooo much better with levels, just like his ult.

But nothing differs from 5 to 4 in terms of skills, and a 2 lion isn't nearly as useful as a 5 lion that can control the tempo of the game with good map movement.

I thought this going into G-1, but alliance proved it by how they beat the asian teams. They have the creativity lacking amongst most of the top asian teams to beat them, along with their high and steady level of play.

Navi doesn't need saying, they're navi.

I really hope rattlesnake make it in, because their creativity and aggressiveness is very refreshing. (plus that they're a playforfun team (not actually paid))

They are still a core, as they require items to function.

The clock-ds wasn't a good example, but you get the idea somewhat. I don't remember the games specifically, but imagine having 3 heroes that can carry, then having say a supposed support gyro getting farm as well. It wasn't meant to be, but turns into 4-core.

It's like the tongfu-navi game, where tongfu ran 4 position doom that had the highest net worth 14mins in. It doesn't start as 4-core so much as it develops into it I guess? Prob best if you can find games.

I'm not quite sure whats wrong with iG and LGD, haven't really watched their games today. It's probably a mix of new changes and metagame not being suited for their style, along with a stagnation of creativity and decrease in skill and talent gap between them and others (LGD in particular always relied on being more solid than the other team).

I wouldn't say DK might take it all yet, but I am hoping for a DK win given B-god retiring after TI3 (and quite possibly MMY and 357 too).

Cow is incredibly easy to counter if you have players who know how to properly tp support and counter-initiate (and baiting, with supports behind).

He falls off significantly if he can't snowball out of early and mid game.

SB offers nothing in a teamfight with no farm though.

If he gets farm though he still isn't that good in teamfight. The only thing he excels at is picking off people and chasing, which is easy to counter by not being out of position and just fighting as 5. There are too many heroes that will out-carry and farm faster than SB.

Whcih is another problem, SB is terrible at farming. Can't push lane, can't farm fast. Which reduces him to a pub-stomping hero.

Regarding the map awareness part, think about this: How fast does it take for heroes like puck, bat, storm, furi, wisp and so on take to initiate? Incredibly quickly, and wisp furi from anywhere. Then think how long it takes for Bara to initiate. Proper warding for the most part will scout out bara at least 50% of the time.

His charge, if it goes uninterrupted, causes A LOT of mayhem. I admit that it's not that much and fairly conditional, but saying that he has no teamfight control is unfair.

I don't see how it was bad, they played some of the best games of TI3 in the finals. Then again I haven't had a chance to watch the game yet on my own cam but yeah.

That XBOCT doublekill at the start of the game was hilariously good play that was a result of Bulldog canceling his TP because he thought they had the kill.

Also hoping Burning doesn't retire... asked and he said not necessarily.

You can tell that after they took roshan and began that push, it did not occur to them that alliance would choose to split push like they did. They were expecting a fight at base, as can be seen in Dendi choosing to drop his tp for aegis (they killed s4 at rosh, who bb'd when they were pushing highground). Now that Alliance chose to split push instead of fighting into aegis, it became a game of chicken. Since dendi had no tp, alliance had no choice but to continue pushing but Alliance did not bite. NaVi obviously chose to take rax rather than go back and defend. This is one of the things that seperates Western teams and Eastern teams, but with the way Navi chose to try and end game with push (tp drop), and alliance accurately deducing that they can push faster.

Now during the first set of TPs, enig had tp canceled, and dendi had no tp. As for errors, you can tell Navi were obviously desperate at this point to go back and defend. The only errors at this point was 1. TP'ing as close to base as they did without opening BKB or going further, and 2. XBOCT not just tp'ing anyways after puck coiled. The second was obviously nerves, and he obviously panicked, what with first wanting to fight puck, then having to use bkb for the tp because he didn't go immediately.
It's easy to pin this on poor play when you're observing, but you have to give it up for s4, he made a magnificent play in launching the orb after rax got taken and he got close enough to being able to get into range to get outside base. He launched that orb before a single tp went off, and tbh this was by far attributed to s4 making an amazing play over navi screwing up (sans XBOCT).

If you didn't notice a second set of TPs being canceled then I won't bother since it was what crushed what hope NaVi had of defending the ancient push. I will comment that that too was an amazing play by S4 given his positioning (was outside of ward vision), and navi had no way of knowing he was there. He also canceled dendi's tp (5sec long) with about 0.05sec left.

p.s. trees didn't kill navi cour, trees are never able to kill flying cour unless it's sitting there for treants to whack.

P-EDIT: LOL NO they didn't know Puck was where he was. Go back and watch replay, he was out of radiant vision when they tp'ed.

Eh against Bat, you can just harrass him whenever he comes up to try and napalm. There really aren't many matchups you lose mid with sniper unless you mis-position, have shitty last hitting and lane controlling skills, or get constantly ganked. The last is the scariest, but you're pretty much betting that you'll be playing against people who don't know how to rotate supports and gank.

Blink is also a really good item on lina, and your team may need a force as well, but my Lina build tends to lean selfish most of the time (sometimes mek/drums may be needed depending on the game).

It's pretty impossible to learn support from playing with bots, unless youre practicing pulling.

I'd advise watching pro games. I'd suggest Alliance games, and just watch what the supports do. One game (or two) should be enough to teach you everything you need to know about rotating, warding, pulling, and general supporting.

(use in-game client, download a TI3 game or something)

edit: I'm linking this game since I remember it off the top of my head and was easy to find. You probably only need to watch the first 5-10mins of the game (pls don't watch the rest of game team failed epically after)

I'm pretty sure there are varying amounts to "Very High", because in june-aug, I was getting nothing other than "Very Retarded" and "Huehueperuviandoto". The "skill brackets" in themselves aren't totally descriptive.

The skill level between the "Very High" on my smurf and the "Very High" on my main also differs drastically.

tl;dr, the tiers dota2 uses really suck.

Dotabuff used to have a nice % ranking thing as well as ELO, but valve took issue to it and shortly got removed. They had more specific categories ranging from diamond, platinum, etc., with diamond being top 1%, plat 95-99% (I think), so on.

Flaming your team lowers morale. But in cases like yesterday, the game was already over given the incompetence of the flamers. Dual wraith band voids and 30min tread lunas too stronk.

It's well known that flaming makes you play worse. But you also have to look at the flamer. If the flamer is also a noob, you can pretty much just ignore his flaming and play normally.

Only difference is at higher MMRs, sometimes you still win despite the team in-flaming.

@AA: IF you have no mana for ult, you're playing her wrong. I've never had an instance where I had no mana for ult.

P-EDIT: Krob relies on rune control more so than bottle-crowing.

I can't remember the last time I lost to a SB at my MMR. I normally laugh whenever the other team has one.

As for the old lycan, if you aggresively ganked him he was easy to control, granted your team knew what to do with the time window bought.

No it's not that he doesn't require skill, it's more so that SB actually becomes rather hard to play at higher MMRs because you don't have as many targets to pick off, or others will tp-support someone being engaged on.

In teamfights SB isn't actually a problem unless he has BKB. Bane however is a good counter as I said because bane can just easily sleep him if he has no bkb, or grip him with. In all honesty, most carries can easily out-dps SB. His strength really lies in ganking and picking off heroes to snowball.
Typically you see those SBs raping teamfights because they have such a large lead from successful ganks. SB is a very hard snowball hero.

I would totally rage AM or Slark IF you have the numbers.

There is no AM that wants to be silenced in a team fight... take this from an AM player. There probably would be better targets in a teamfight to silence (supports), and AM is more situational, but its not a bad idea if he's say 50% hp or you guys are ganking him (or small scale engagements).

Someone should probably check whether manta removes bloodrage bonus dmg or not.

Feeding yourself to roshan isnt really reportable, you're not feeding the other team.

Nor is the last one really, but you get the idea.

A better example would be wisp-relocating someone to a off-the-map terrain.

My experiences with jungling cents on my team have never ended remotely well.

It's probably not too bad if you don't have bad jungling luck and are left alone I would imagine, especially if you pay attention to map.

Brood change very necessary, it's not possible to play her at all at higher MMRs due to how easily she gets countered.

Oh yeah the smoke change is pretty bad. You used to be able to prevent game-changing smoke ganks with good warding (which SHOULD be rewarded), but now it's pretty a much a matter of who gets ganked first. The buyback nerf is huge as well and included in this.

Playing carry is going to suck so much, considering all the focus that goes into killing them in carries already. Baiting out buybacks gonna be huge now.

I agree with nati's view on more 4p1. It's either going to be 4p1, or full out gank squads. In a way, think if how DK has been playing, they get kills left and right with 2-3 heroes. That level of aggression is gonna get amplified by new patch.

At higher MMRs, lanes are more commonly 1-1-3. At pro levels, sometimes they even abandon the offlane (dodging enemy tri), and sending offlaner into the jungle.

4p1 refers to how teams draft around a single carry. Best example is how LGD plays. Often times their mid and offlane heroes are both controls, relying on controlling and setting up teamfights best they can to ensure their carry smashes everyone. Doesn't necessarily have to be solely one carry, but draft is based around the 1, while the other 4 ensure and buy time or protect to ensure best outcome for the 1.

I play mostly solo queue, and I can tell you that supporting in this new patch is VERY unreliable...

I don't know what it is about the new patch, but all those bfury kunkkas, afk lose-to-jungle-lane axes and vanguard supports seem to be all the rage now.

At lower MMRs, I play mid almost exclusively because that is the easiest lane to snowball out of and control the game tempo from. Granted if your other 2 lanes still lose generally there's not much you can do about it.

BH is also viable again now and is another hero to easily control game with. Used to play BH excessively until meta changed such that everyone went trilane + sentries, but he is honestly a very easy hero to win with if you have good map movement.

You really need mana boots, but yes, force is an awesome item on him.

As for riki... the key is controlling him in laning stage. He is weak vs lanes of equal or greater numbers. If he gets a good first 10mins, game is then hard for other team until they buy gem.
