MoM is useless on naix, yes.

I normally build into eblade after. Blink is also a really good item on lina, and your team may need a force as well, but my Lina build tends to lean selfish most of the time (sometimes mek/drums may be needed depending on the game).

Double damage? It takes it from 950 to 1250. That's not remotely worth 4200 gold, even when you factor in the hp/mana bonuses.

And by the time you get the scepter, being able to "solo" a hero is pretty worthless because the game becomes all about teamfights. With the gold you spent on a Scepter, you could have had an item (or items) that would actually make the difference in a teamfight, like an orchid, most of a sheepstick, or force AND mek.

Scepter is fine on Lina for range & damage. You gotta rush it fast though and hex is usually better yeah. There are situations where I would get it on Lina, though Iit's bad on Lion though.

The range upgrade is really nice. Can cast without having to be as out of position in a teamfight.

OFC if you're supporting there are better items (agh is purely a pub item), but well, pub.

(and stats on agh is always nice for a support, nothing like bat/invis heroes trying to initiate on you only to get counter-killed in return due to tankiness, esp as lina)

I disagree. Aghanims is clearly a situational item on Lina. I would only buy it if I was playing a two or maaaybe three position Lina. But it does have a place, Shamrock. A ~15-20 minute Aghs gives Lina ridiculous burst power and can just completely shut down the game. It's like buying a Dagon--you get it because you are ahead and these items help you stay ahead.

i'm generally in public, so if i start as a support, about half the time I have to shift to a carry build cause my teams hard carry sucks. But then other times, i'm in game, and someone re-picks, and we end up wit 4 hard carries. In which case. I play the beast freaking support PA ever! And playing lina as a 2 is kinda fun.

So i agree it depends on the situation. but I'm usually building out of a staff of wizardry anyway, so it's easy to switch builds even 20+ minutes in. IN which case, if I have to carry with lina the only real chance is to be able to pick off stragglers by myself.

I still love the games i've done with drow, where i hit my items and have enough level advantage to set up kills for my team, and then solo push a lane while we have a 4 person counter push mid. There's a lot to be said for having a lvl 20 kicking ass, while the everybody else on your team has managed 17, and are just bullying the other team. Cause once you hit that point there's nothing the other team can do, they can't ignore the solo cause they move forward so fast, and the mid can't either.

It's so hard learning to play Support with bots... Wards are pretty useless with the set patterns they usually follow and the bot iq can be so frustrating. I saved Luna's life as CM with a freeze so she could get away, and after I die in the process she turns around and starts harassing with no hp instead of going back to base. She then get's killed >.>

I was happy that I got my 2nd pub win with viper today though.

It's pretty impossible to learn support from playing with bots, unless youre practicing pulling.

I'd advise watching pro games. I'd suggest Alliance games, and just watch what the supports do. One game (or two) should be enough to teach you everything you need to know about rotating, warding, pulling, and general supporting.

(use in-game client, download a TI3 game or something)

edit: I'm linking this game since I remember it off the top of my head and was easy to find. You probably only need to watch the first 5-10mins of the game (pls don't watch the rest of game team failed epically after)

i generally find it impossible to learn anything from bots in any game. Which is why I never bothered to try it all that much.

I do kinda wonder why people call the 5 the most boring, i personally think all the positions are fun. 2,3 and 5 being my favorite.

This is something i've been wondering though. when you solo a broodmother, what position is that? she aint a carry, but still get's ridiculously fed.

Brood can be anything from a 1 to 3. In a solo, it's either a 2 or 3 though depending on the lane(easy, mid 2 hard 3).

I don't think I've ever seen Brood not solo though. Unless it's Low Queue, but at that point 1-5 doesn't mean anything.

It's rare but it happens. I remember old mouz(the SingSing-Bamboe one) ran Brood easy lane+Leshrac support occasionally.
