God, I liked it but I spaced out for like the first 3 minutes and almost fell asleep. Once I remembered to pay attention I really did like it though, would be hard to fall asleep to that end.

- So one time someone rec'd me a MCS album and I listened to it all the way through. Yeah, I'm proud of me too for sitting through that for 45-60 minutes straight.

- Was listenable until she opened her mouth.

- I feel like this is something I could really like if I acclimated to it. Right now I'm sitting in a "mildly like" space.

- I liked it, but the quality of this contest has been pretty high so far, so who knows if it's point-worthy. Really digging that ending riff/solo though.

- Was great at first, but a little too repetitive eventually. HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW? I almost don't want to knock the kickass instrumentation just for the shitty vocal line, but I can't help it.

- Tempted to say this is the best Djent I've heard, feels like less mindless wankery than say Animals as Leaders. That said, not sure if it can hold up in this contest.

- Did not like this at all. Had to stop halfway through (though mostly due to poor sound quality)

I've never heard of Heart. And I wasn't hating on your songs cause they're mainstream, I'm hating on them because they're mainstream *and* shit. The ones that I downvoted because they had 12 million views wasn't necessarily a reflection on the song but on the fact that people don't deserve to get points in this contest if they just link mainstream songs that people have already heard.

I do not dislike mainstream music at all, and it's just silly that you try to criticise me for, for example, "mixing up emo rock and indie rock", when both are entirely arbitrary genre categories (especially indie, anyone who thinks that is a valid or meaningful way of describing the sound a band generates has no idea). I do not want to listen to a band who tries to sound like "a band signed to an independent label", as though that's actually a "sound".

Maybe if I was aware of Heart beforehand I would have given them a bad score too, but as it is they sound like an extra awesome version of Motley Crue.

Ortolan is trolling, I believe. Allow me to recap:

1) Ortolan is very linear in thinking: If song has much view, is lame! If song has small view, is great!

2) Indie rock isn't "hey we signed to an independent record label, listen to us..", it actually turned into a genre itself. You could also call MCS punk-rock if you prefer, but it is indie-rock, which is a form of alternative rock.

Also, either the views of the song affected your opinion or it did not. If you criticize something for being i) mainstream ii) having many views, you automatically are, and you have contradicted yourself quite clearly in this thread. Ortolan is just trying to be independent is all, but he doesn't realize that being hipster is so 2009.

Ok, stop you there. "indie" and "punk", particularly in this day and age, are about image. They have nothing to do with music itself. They are not words which are useful in describing soundscapes.

However, as is reflected in my comments, most of the songs I downvoted not because of the number of views/popularity, or at least not solely because of the number of views/popularity; but because they are also shit. I know it is quite subtle, tell me when you get it.
