Welcome, one and all, to this, the fabulous forty-fourth MafiaScum Song Contest!

Deadline for entries is noon EDT on Monday, November 7th.

If we get more than 26 entries, the 26 participants in the competition will be decided based on the following criteria:

1. First-time entrants

2. "Big 5" consisting of the top 5 in the current rankings guaranteed entry (DemonHybrid, hitogoroshi, JDodge (+1), Seraphim (-1), Knight of Cydonia (+1))

3. Last winner (next spot down if the person in 1st is guaranteed. Same for 2nd, 3rd, etc...) (TheLonging)

4. Honorary and Current Song Contest Team (Porochaz)

5. Any entrant who was cut in the period of the last 3 contests (except those cut for not voting) and has not used their guaranteed bid. (N/A)

6. Everyone else (except non-voters)

7. Non-voters in most recent contest (Quilford, bv310)

Anyone who does not make the cut is guaranteed a spot in one of the next 3 contests (except those in Category 7).

There will be a new rule in place from this contest on.

Anyone who enters this and any future contests and does not vote will be banned from the following Song Contest. Their application will be disregarded completely, even if there are not 26+ entrants. They will be allowed to enter the Song Contest after the one they are banned from. They will also lose rights to their country and guaranteed status for that contest. They will not be able to use a guaranteed bid for that contest.

For the record, I'm not doing video game music this round. I changed my mind. You guys are free to enter it, but I'm entering it next round.

Pretty sure I want to re-enter a band I picked the wrong song for a while ago, but having trouble deciding which track to go with. Hmmm.

(And obviously I won't be entering anything from a video game. And am relatively unlikely to give video game music points [that's not me judging entries before I hear them, just a reflection of my own voting history in contests featuring video game music].)

Can someone please explain the concept of the Song Contest to me? My understanding is we enter some random song off the internet, and then people vote for the best entry?
