It really is a break for the game. I like the restrictions like this "you have to suck up to a player of your choosing the whole game or be modkilled" or something like that. That generates discussion, instead of stopping it.
Yeah. I had a role where I was the "town debator", and was required to agree with two people, and disagree with two other people. (It later turns out that I was forced to agree with two scum and disagree with two town). The frustrating part was that I wasn't really sure what I could say, because it was rather vauge, so I ended up lurking for much of the game. Finally, one of the scum I had to agree with tried to get me lynched...heh, I've got to say, it was rather amusing trying to defend myself while I could not directly contradict anything my accuser was saying. So late-game, it was rather fun, but for the middle of the game I felt like I was forced mostly lurk so as to avoid agreeing with anything I wasn't supposed to agree with or disagreeing with anything I wasn't supposed to disagree with.
So if you do make a role like that, try to be as specific as possible. Does the person have to agree with the letter of what the person says, or the spirit? Can they agree with the person one post, and then post the exact opposite later in the game, or can they never contradict anything the person says? Ect.
