I see your point Civil, I just don't think it'd be wise for the cop to eliminate himself right now. Giving a cop for a scum is good, but if the cop doesn't have any good leads, we wind up only losing a cop with no real leads for tomorrow. Plus, we give the scum a chance to kill him tonight. Now if the cop does have a scum read, I agree, he should out himself. But with how everything has gone lately, I highly doubt he does.

I was going to hammer Raz after he posted his case, it wouldn't have mad me change my mind it might just affect tomorrow's proceedings. I want all the information we can gather today which involves his case even if all it was was the flimsy nonsense he'd been peddling so far. That was what the objective was, Olinea was different as there was no more information forthcoming but I was being stupid and frustrated yesterday as there was nothing more coming.

At the time that you became set on Olinea there were others under far more scrutiny.

I thought your pushing Olinea so hard was townish because you were so certain that he was scum and then he wasn't. There were other people that could easily have been lynched day one yet you were

About the cop thing, I'm iffy about it.
I think the only way a cop claim would be beneficial today is if they investigated scum last night. Otherwise it will just loose us our cop without having gained anything. (Either they get night killed or lynched tomorrow)

Say the cop reveals himself now and points out which townie he scanned.

If we mislynch and the cop is killed tonight, we end up with 1 confirmed townie tomorrow. However:

If we mislynch and the confirmed townie dies, we end up with one suspicious cop, even if he is real. If he says he scanned a scum tonight, there is no way to know whether we should believe him. This does not seem to have any advantages over a cop claim on day 3.

There is also the high change Razgriz is scum, in which case you sacrifice a cop who could have scanned two more people (day 3 and 4)

Well, only in the event that Razgriz isn't scum. I might have been more clear about that. Bu, yes, assuming he is (which we are by voting), then the whole thing is irrelevant and would be a bad idea. That's true.

I thought about that, but a few positives remain, though maybe not enough. If they NK'd the townie, the scum take a big risk leaving a (not confirmed/not disproven) REAL cop in the game.

Secondly, the scum would have to expose themself now and claim now, so we'd eliminate the chance of having a claim to deal with tomorrow.

Although we still could end up choosing between either a true cop-claim and a fake-one.

The problem is that the scum know whether or not there is a cop. So, if they get put in a tough spot later, we can reasonably expect to have a cop claim (real or fake) at some point. Especially at LyLo.

But, you're right, it is needlessly exposing the cop if we're right about Razgriz. Nevermind about all of that.

Like I said Civil, you had a good idea. It just came with some bad consequences, should we follow that idea through. But it really was a good idea in the sense of being able to catch scum in a fake claim. However though, if we do have a cop, he/she may be intimidated to out themselves in later phases, due to the high risk of getting lynched because people think it's a fake claim. The only time the cop would out themselves though, is if they caught scum. Unless we have serious new kids as Mafia, which I don't think that's the case right now... then when the cop outs themselves, they can guarantee their death in the night. If not, they will indeed look super scummy and will probably be lynched the next day phase. Though I will admit, scum would be stupid not to kill off the cop if they find him/her.

I know, a lot of circular talking here but let's remember, this is all assuming we HAVE a cop? It could be two Mafia Goons, and our Doc was our only special power hope? I don't know how I feel though waiting another 2 and a half days before we can finally lynch scum. I didn't realize at the time how long the 13th was away. >_>

You can say it's role-fishing, but I made it pretty clear that it might be a bad idea. And in D-1, I tried to prevent a premature claim from VC's.
