Episode 2 - Scene 1

Kima hurried into the Office of the Medical Examiner. She saw a tall man with a large amount of hair coming out of his head. "Doctor? You called me?"

The man turned around. "Are you Detective Shakima Greggs?"

"Yes sir. Please call me Kima. What's this about?"

He pulled the latex glove off his hand and offered it to her. "Detective, I'm Doctor Randall Frazier. I'm sorry to bring you down here like this, but I'd like to ask if you can identify a body for me."

A flutter ran through Kima's stomach. "My family? Who is it?"

Doctor Frazier waved her into the next room. She saw a gurney with a sheet draped over it. "I don't believe so, Detective. However, we brought in a man beaten to death, no ID on him or anything." He took something off of the sheet. "Detective Greggs, besides a couple bucks and the vial in his shoe, the only useful thing this man had on him was your business card." He handed the ratty card over to her.

"Oh, shit." A tear formed in her eye. "Let's get this over with."

"Do you know who this is?"

"Not for certain, but I have an idea."

Doctor Frazier pulled the sheet back. The right side of his face was caved in and covered with blood, but she could tell it was him.

"Shit, Bubbs, what did you do?" she cried out. Doctor Frazier brought over a rolling stool, which Kima promptly collapsed on.

After a few moments, Doctor Frazier spoke up. "So, you knew this man?"

Kima collected herself. "He went by Bubbles, or Bubbs. He was one of my CIs. A scamming junkie, but he'd give up names, and you could trust him. He was helping us work on this new case we've got." She turned her head towards the body. "What scam did you try to pull this time, Bubbs?"

"Thanks, Detective. I'm sorry to make you do this, but do you know his real name?"

"I don't, Doctor, I'm sorry."

"That's okay, we can work on this more from our side. If you hear anything on the street that might point to his people, please do let me know."

"Thanks, Doc, I'll do what I can." Kima stood up and walked out of the Medical Examiner's office, more resolute than ever to put these Barksdales away.

Hmm. I am slightly uncomfortable with the presence of 'survivors'.
Do they change balance? Can we still think 3 scum? hmm.

That aside.. These are my gut reads as of now:

NON-scum on:
animorph
fate
sensfan
camn

I am wishy-washy/probtown on:
Deer
Jebus
Locke
Delibird

and scummy on:
jason
Sotty
raider.

Deers play was horrible, and his claim was horrible.
I can't get my head around it.

Sotty - I was thinking town overnight, but I could see VPB as a revenge kill of some sort.
Looking at the initial Sotty wagon.. it seems pretty town-driven.
If she were town, I think it would have picked up more steam.

@Jebus: is your restriction lifted? I hope so.

@Animorph: Did you get any results? I am unsure if you should tell us who you targeted.. thinking that would narrow the target-pool. But do you have any guilties?

Why would it have picked up more steam? And night kill WIFOM is WIFOM. What makes me scummy to you? It seems more like a process of elimination of "the wagon is town so you must be scum" Not buying it.

I'm still thinking Fate but I could be being stubborn. I will need to look back and see why VP was killed, because he wasn't exactly a protown driving force yesterday.

Let's figure things out right now.
Does anyone else want to claim Neutral roles like Survivor?

Do you understand how Ani's role works? The snitch, VP, is dead. narrowing the suspect pool isn't even a factor now. We can only hope that he targeted VP last night.

I am slightly against that at first blush.

If only snitches are survivors, and only snitches can empower our investigators.... then them claiming makes them targets.

On the other hand.. if there are more than one, than the scum can't kill them all.. and we get some info out of it.

I targetted you, and you are not a snitch.

Nothing against you, it's more of a methopd to semi-confirm town.

How about this:

VP knew who some of the scum were, right?
I believe that even as a 'survivor' he likes to taste the blood of scum.

Do we think that VP actually knew some of the scum players from the start of the game? That seems a little overpowered to me.

Of course he knew some of the Scum. But he was a Survivor; it's not in his interests to find too many Scum. Or he gets killed.

So if it's not in his interests, what do you think of camn's idea that he knew Sotty was scum and went after her right off the bat?

I'm highly dubious of VP's logic if his plan to avoid being killed was to set up a wagon pre-game on a player he knew was scum and declare he had evidence.

But if he had a pre-existing out-of-game grudge.. PLUS inside knowledge that it was a righteous wagon... I say he would go for it.

PLUS... VP >DIDN'T< avoid being killed. He WAS killed. Thus it makes even MORE sense that he actually attacked scum... be it in his interest or not.

Locke, what's the reason for your Jebus vote? My initial reaction on seeing it was that you were restricted today and couldn't post. Obviously that isn't true.
