Personally, it doesn't help us that much... it all depends on the position you are.

I'm also pretty sure in the sign up thread someone mentioned they hope someone picked doc this game, thereby stating that no bugger did in the previous game. (I can sorta see why, why be a role where you "might" die through use... you need some way of planning how you will run things).

Thus, it's not necessarily true that pro-town will definitely pick those roles.

In fact, to be honest, it all depends on how the scum team have decided to do things, to what they'll have picked. They know town will expect them to pick Janitor/Redirector/Role Cop... so why pick them? They could just go after decent (though perhaps not as strong) town roles instead. Stuff like Bomb, Backup, Weak Doc etc. will benefit scum still, purely by preventing town having those roles.

I think basing the game around what roles are more likely to be scum/town is a sure fire way of town losing badly.

For some reason, I don't think that's the route scum would take. I think taking roles that would benefit them while at the same time might look protown, might be more favorable then taking roles that are of little use to them, but put town at a disadvantage. Roles like Even/Odd Night Vig and janitor might be able to put a protown spin, therefore I think those would be likely roles for scum.

What have I "dubiously" done? I am just trying to establish content to judge claims for higher draft picks. I clearly don't see any town motive to take a role such as Role Cop, Even Day Vig, Odd Day Vig, or Redirector before a role like Cop, Doctor, Bomb, or Gunsmith.

Ok, this seems way too obvious not to have been thought of, but after the signup thread, I'm no longer convinced that everyone would be able to tie their own shoe-laces...

How on earth does claiming on D2 compared to D1 change things for vig? How are they less locked in after having had 1 night to kill?

Basically, a D1 massclaim doesn't really seem to gain us anything over a D2, and gives scum an extra night to plan and kill the PRs.

Actually, a vig could be directed still tonight whether we claim or not.

It's the other roles (cop, doc, watcher, tracker) that we don't want to out so early on, because scum just pick them off one at a time with ease.

Also, Socrates fails by classing me as being deserving of a lynch. Pay attention.

and CMAR, Cop/doc is very pro-town, however town didn't just have a choice of "cop/doc" or "vig" we had a choice of everything, and if lucky could land all of those roles... so why are you talking as though we had a choice of one or the other?

I'm just giving examples. Here, I will make a diagram:

If person A has the number 1 pick in the draft and they are town, they would likely select cop, tracker, or possibly even bomb or doctor.
If person B has the number 2 pick in the draft and they are scum, they would likely go for redirector, role cop, either vig, maybe even janitor.

This is the point that I am trying to prove. With a high draft pick, town would select cop/tracker/bomb/doctor before redirector, role cop, either vig, or janitor. Therefore, if a mass claim happens in the upcoming days, I do believe this would be a good guideline to follow.

@CMAR- what if the number one person in the draft picks a role they know the mafia will want just to make sure they don't get it? Point being, each role is basically equal for both sides (if that makes sense) in my eyes. Each side has a reason for picking each role.

In my opinion, as both scum or town, I would choose a role that would benefit my alignment, whether it was scum or town, before I chose a role that would hinder the other alignment any day. Especially as scum since they have a lot less people. Choosing a role to benefit them is a lot more important.

The picks were not completely random. The scum had more knowledge than the town or masons, so they could ensure (WIFOM aside) that they didn't pick the same numbers as each other.

Of course it isn't 100%, but they certainly had a better chance to pick better numbers.

Thus, a scum had a better chance to get the #1 draft pick than a non-scum individual.

Well, look at scum at the top of the tree here. We now know Pomegranate is highly likely to be town, unless this is some sort of ridiculous gambit (sorry Pom, btw). I'd also suggest Sando is quite likely to be town, especially if he can confirm he isn't a Universal Backup, Redirector or Janitor.

It's also quite likely that the Soras' wagon was very town driven

unless

scum has the Universal Backup, which makes a Day 1 bus of one of their best roles a feasible play, as it hides the vig again.

We know the Universal Backup is in play somewhere, and I think the town should decide who to kill with that shot. My opinion is that we should shoot from this chunk of the list;
